((RP Thread, please don't apply until you've read the original thread))

((Discussion and OOC Thread))

NOTE: Sign-ups are NEVER closed for Shadowmyst! The RP could be 50 pages down the line and you can still apply! Don't be shy!

Shadowmyst is a traditional RP that I have done on every RP forum I've migrated to (3, so far), it has grown from a simple Sure, Why Not? sort of RP I threw together into a deep, expansive, ever-changing, and fun to play in world. It takes place a good 1000 years after a meteor shower demolished the surface of the planet, said meteors actually being crystals which shattered into a fine dust on impact and spread into humans, allowing the use of magic. Which is available to characters in the RP (See rules and character creation). You play as a denizen of Shadowmyst, either a Rebel, Civilian, Associate, or Fiend, and take part in the quest to usurp (or prevent the usurpation of) Arcadias and end his reign, pure and simple. All good fun. Now, let's get to the rules.

RULES

1: No Godmodding, no Omniscience, etc. Yanno, typical bad RP behavior shit.

2: Literacy is a definite must. The occasional typo will be overlooked, but if it's obvious that you're not even trying with your text and punctuation, I will kick you out, pure and simple.

3: Action and Combat in this RP is, quite simply, DMC tier and beyond. Meaning I'm not allowing you to go over the top here. I'm expecting you to go over the top. This, of course, does not mean you're a one-man army. You are perfectly capable of and allowed to make a person capable of killing a good several dozen mooks. But, we aren't always gonna be fighting mooks. Bottom line is, this is an action heavy and story heavy RP. So don't be afraid to show some flair when fighting.

4: I work by a 3-strike you're out rule. Meaning you get 2 chances to screw up before I kill your character in a gruesome/humiliating way.

5: The world outside of Shadowmyst remains as of yet, undefined, in previous incarnations the world outside was made by the PC's, and this time, it's no different. I usually make a few small settings as the plot demands, but for the world at large, feel free to make it seem as you wish, as long as it pertains to your character and as long as you discuss it with me beforehand. You can't go about making the entire geography, after all, without limits.

6: For the love of god, ask questions. This is a deeeeeeep world and it will be easy to get lost. If you fall behind and need a refresher, or have a question about the technology and magic, go ahead and ask me through PM or the discussion thread, it's what it's there for. I will be patient to the best of my ability and recap for you/ explain to you.

7: This is NOT a Beginner's RP. Hell, Intermediate is stretching it. I'm expecting you to be able to read, understand, and potentially write a lot for this RP. Hell, if it goes far enough, it might even warrant it's own Trope Page. Basic line is, this is an RP for experienced folk, or at least, folk who think they can keep up. There's nothing stopping you from applying, but know that it could be easy to fall behind/get lost/etc. Also, don't be afraid to follow rule 6, above. I'm not trying to scare you off, but don't be afraid to bombard me with questions.

Character Creation

Name: (Derp, however, convention about naming. It's not uncommon to see a person with a name that references to an Old Earth Technology, Technology Part or object. Be prepared to see first names like Gear, Turbine, Lase(Laser), Cell, Holo, and so on.)

Gender: (Derp, however, Fiends are genderless.)

Age: (Again, Derp, preferably your character should be old enough to walk straight and talk cohesively and young enough to walk straight and talk cohesively.)

Faction: (Rebel, Civilian, Associate, Fiend. Explained in the RP Thread)

Appearance: (Physical appearance and clothing, Fiends generally don’t wear or require clothes.)

Personality: (Behavior, how you act around others, and so on.)

Background: (Information about your life in Shadowmyst only, if you originally lived outside of the city, say so, but PM me about it first, because I might have some useful info for you. This is, essentially, what I'll be looking for to decide whether or not you're good material for this RP. Again, I implore you, ask questions. I'm looking for info and backstory to use for each character in the RP to keep everyone involved.)

Equipment: (Your shit, list your weapons, possessions, and total PP. Don't make yourself too rich.)

Powers/Magic: (There are three basic areas to focus on here, Melee, Ranged, and Magic. The basic premises are, you can be an expert in one field, good in another, and only adequate and below in the last. Also, take into account your age and experience. I don't want a 16 year old to be a swordmaster and gunslinger, ain't gonna fly, as action heavy is I'm allowing you to be.

Aside from that list what else you can do in terms of skills, computer hacking, medicines, mechanics, what you generally focus on with your magic, etc.)

I have 4 characters in the RP that I shall post as examples.

Name: Ryan "Dead-eye" Ephraim

Gender: Male

Age: 34

Faction: Rebel Leader

Appearance: Ryan's shocking red hair, perfect complexion, and deep hazel eyes betray not only his age but personality as well. His hair is medium length, going to the end of his neck. And a layer of it always covers his left eye, he can see perfectly well through it though. He stands just less than six feet tall and has a relatively light build, weighing in at around 160 LBS. He is always seen wearing The Rebel Standard, which is kept clean constantly and has a Spiral symbol on the upper right sleeve, to show his authority. He wears black, loose pants and similarly black combat boots. A white undershirt is underneath his jacket.

'Personality: Ryan is cold, calculating, and tactical. Always, always, ALWAYS planning out a mission beforehand and watching over each and every rebel member as if they were his son or daughter. He rarely ever smiles or laughs and seems to have no sense of humor. He's constantly all business, and probably will never be happy until Arcadias lies dead at his feet. That is to say, he certainly isn't heartless, he believes in fair game and deep down has a heart of gold. Ryan makes very passionate speeches to his soldiers, but always keeps an air of business and authority around him. He's not afraid to criticize his fellow rebels in terms of their skill or how they did last mission, and pays his troops particularly well for most missions.

Although he does consider the Rebellion to be an army, he doesn't really much care for being treated like a General, he doesn't require you to salute him, or call him "Captain Ephraim", but he will respond to the title and he will salute you back. Overall though, Ryan has garnered respect among his troops. He knows how they feel and his soldiers appreciate him for it, if they seek action, they usually get it.

Background': Ryan was among the first citizens ever to be forced into Shadowmyst's walls. At the tender age of 8 his family was brought there by Fiends and forced to live a hollowed life. They originally lived in the bazaar without much fuss for a while. But when Ryan was 16, his parents were taken and forced to fight in the arena underneath Arcadias' tower.

They didn't survive.

Orphaned, Ryan managed to stay in his parent's house until he was forced to sell it for the money he desperately needed. He found his house worth more than originally intended, and suddenly found himself carting around fifty grand in PP. However, he still needed more money and, seeing as it was one of the better paying parts of living in the city, he became a Guard for a several years. While he was a Guard, he learned to shoot and fight, and also took up an interest in engineering and mechanics. Ryan was one of the better guards of the city, tentatively ignoring anyone who spoke against Arcadias and actually trying to keep the peace a fair bit, while at the same time avoiding the scrutinizing eyes of the more evil Associates and Fiends. He saved every piece of platinum he made for 11 long hard years. Then he heard of Oswald's attempt to kill the Overlord and was inspired. Still infuriated at Arcadias over his parent's death, he used his extra money to hire mechanics and begin work on what would flower into the Rebellion's underground base. Where it has grown since to it's current status.

Equipment: Requiem: Ryan's very own custom-made pistol. Requiem is a long-barreled, eight round, and high caliber magnum with silver and gold engravings. Requiem is perfectly capable of blowing your head clean off of your shoulders. In addition, a light bayonet hangs off of the barrel, allowing Ryan to effectively melee anyone who get's too close during a scrap. Requiem is Ryan's only weapon, and the only one he needs.

Vitae: Ryan's hover-bike. Vitae is a relatively bulky hover-bike that Ryan modified himself and outfitted with hidden turrets and machine guns that can reveal themselves and fire at any nearby enemies whenever necessary, taking it a step above other Hover-bikes. Vitae is also, despite its bulkiness, just as fast as any other hover-bike, due to extra boosters Ryan outfitted to the vehicle. Aside from its combat capabilities, Ryan mainly uses Vitae to run errands and pick up supplies using spare storage compartments

Along with these, Ryan also runs and owns the elaborate underground base that is the Rebellion. With ties to those willing to support the Rebels, he earns an income of around 100 grand in PP a year. It’s just enough to support the Rebellion in terms of food, dorm, and ammo. Alongside with paying his troops for deadly missions

Powers/Magic: Ryan's best ability is most definitely his Marksmanship. There is not a single Rebel member who can shoot nearly as well as he can. From a football field away, with Requiem, he can nail a headshot. It's how he got the nickname "Dead-eye". No one exactly knows why or how he's this good. Some say he uses magic to aid his aiming skill, others say he's just lucky, other's say his eye's are actually eagle eyes.

Ryan says he's just good.

His middle skill is melee. He's a decent brawler and is capable of holding his own for a little while in close combat, especially since Requiem has a bayonet attached to it. Without Requiem, he can pick up a sword or club or whatever and use it effectively, but prefers fighting with Requiem using a combination of thrusting its bayonet into your chest, and firing a round right above the wound.

Ryan has never practiced magic in his life, considering it froofy-finger-wiggling and not worth the time and effort. He appreciates using it to fuel his body for Le Parkour, extra strength, and battling and only uses it for that purpose only.

In addition to his combat skills, Ryan is an excellent mechanic and programmer; most of his free time is spent tinkering with his gun, bike, or the Base's security and radio system. Ryan's also an excellent tactician. Planning out everything before it happens. Even if he's winging a mission and hasn't written it down yet or had the time to think it over, you can bet your ass he's coming up with a plan. Perhaps his only smiling moments are spent when a plan goes by perfectly.

----------

Name: Oswald "Ozzy/Oz" Nicholas Escobar

Gender: Male.

Age: 23

Faction: Soon-to-be-Rebel

Appearance: The 6-7 years he has spent imprisoned underneath Arcadias' tower has left Oswald severely weakened and famished. At the moment he only weighs 140 pounds for his even 6 feet of height. He is thin and pale, and malnourished, but still alive. Otherwise, Oswald has brown, spiky, long hair and blue deep eyes. He is still wearing his father's travelling jacket, a dark brown/ almost black, jacket that goes to his knees and has several utility zippers that can be used to take off sleeves and hoods to suit the current weather circumstances. He also wears black hiking boots and beige, baggy jeans that still somehow fit his waistline. A black undershirt can be seen under the jacket. He also dons brown fignerless gloves and a long, flowing black scarf. All of his clothes are dirty and torn, and he has not bathed since he was imprisoned.

A decent reference picture of him (and Eclipse), made and drawn by yours truly, can be seen here.

Personality: Oswald used to be a bright and cheery kid who smiled often and always looked to the bright side. He was a natural leader and born to be great.
Not anymore.
The old Ozzy is still in there, but one would have to dig past the feeling of hopelessness and the constant daze he seems to be in. As though he cannot believe everything went wrong. However, Oswald is still the leading type, if a little more bitter about it, and he still somewhat handles well around people. He's a bit distant seeing as he's been through a hellish nightmare in Acadias' dungeon and has absolutely no wish to go back down there, resulting in him being quiet most of the time and focused.

Background: Oswald was brought up in a small farming and fishing village located far from Shadowmyst. You already know a lot about him through the Timeline presented in the RP thread. He was trained in the use of a blade from his father ever since he could hold one, his father was a practiced explorer who charted the location of the Idols and was kidnapped by Arcadias as a result, thus spurring Oswald to race and collect the Idols before Arcadias could, with Faith's help and both of them using Eclipse to safely collect them and rescue his father. But there is more to the man who once conquered Arcadias. Half of the Eclipse Idol is still embedded in his hand; a half spiral symbol that Arcadias was unable to remove through any means without the other half. Killing Oswald for it would just make things worse. The weapon that spawned from it; Eclipse, is in Arcadias' possession and the overlord uses it to show his ultimate power, he has it on him at all times.

Equipment: As of now Oswald has no possessions to his name aside from the clothes on his back. Eclipse, is in Arcadias' possession and Oswald will get it back from him.

Eclipse: At first glance, Eclipse simply looks like an oddly shaped broadsword. But upon closer inspection, one will find that it is most definitely more than it appears. Eclipse is actually comprised of six smaller swords that all slide and magically lock into place against one another to comprise of one giant broadsword. The six parts of the blade vary in length from about a short-sword to a hand-and-a half blade. The sword was created from The Eclipse Stone, as Oswald coined it since he and Faith found it on the day of the Solar Eclipse, and the sword has a very powerful and important function. Eclipse seems to have a mind of its own, only working for those it chooses, it can be held by anybody, but only functions as a big sword with some magical properties in the wrong hands. Fundamentaly and at it's most basic, Eclipse can simply be described as Utility Sword. Use a short-sword for quick, light attacks, or a hand-and-a-half blade for heavy hitting, or the whole thing for powerful, wide strokes. With a bit of magic, one can use all six parts of the blade separately to create a whirling circle of deadly destruction.

However, Eclipse has a purpose, and Oswald and Faith were quick to find out what it is. Eclipse is a receptable for the other Idols, a tool that can be used to safely carry and use their power. It holds 5 of the 6 other Idols, the 5th Idol being either the one for Light, or Darkness, as both cannot co-exist so close together. Each Idol is represented by a blade attached to the sword, and the 6th blade being the original base. Each time Oswald and Faith collected an Idol, a new sword was formed to hold it, and the duo gained another part of the weapon to use. Thanks to the 2's previous endeavors, It currently holds all 5 it can hold, with the fifth Idol being the Light Idol. The Dark Idol still in Arcadias' possession.

When used in combat, Eclipse can utilize the elements of the Idols within it to deal damage of the appropiate type. With a bit of concentration and if Eclipse is currently a single blade, it can use all five elements within it at once, the end result being a blade able to shatter diamonds and slice apart entire buildings and armies. One can only thank the Heavens that Arcadias is unable to use it.

Powers/Magic: Oswald's best ability, thanks to training from his dad at a younger age and experience from previous adventures, is his Swordplay. Especially since he and Faith were the original owners of Eclipse, he has had plenty of time to figure out it's nuances. He may be rusty after years imprisoned and a laser sword may be awkward in his hands, but swordplay is as natural as bike-riding to him. He will at the least be a tough opponent in battle. With Eclipse at hand, Ozzy's time spent incarcerated will mean absolutely nothing concerning that the blade will gladly do most of the work for him.

His middle ability is Magic, even though he's never formally studied it, he uses magic to power and control Eclipse. He also knows a few offensive elemental spells such as fireballs, ice spears, and so on, but uses them sparingly. Oswald would rather fight you personally than resort to magic. That and he likes to preserve energy.

Oswald has never used a gun in his life, but, given practice, he could find himself to be pretty decent with a bullet.

----------

Name: Faith Alexandra Reynolds.

Gender: Female

Age: 22

Faction: Rebel

Appearance: Faith is a short, slender, woman standing in at about 5'5 in height and weighing in at about 140 pounds. She's an Aryan dream, meaning she has golden blond hair and bright blue eyes. Her skin is a healthy kind of pale color, and she has a slender, athletic and fit body. She is often seen in the Rebel Standard, with a white shawl with blue highlights covering her upper body over the jacket. A gray tank top is under the jacket. She wears comfortable leather gloves at all times. Her legs are covered by a matching white and blue half-skirt to go with the shawl, and under this skirt is a pair of black, tight, leather pants which are tucked into shin-high black combat boots.

Personality: Faith is upbeat, spunky, cheerful, and an all around nice girl. She's also smart and strong-willed, refusing to succumb to any sort of temptation or brainwashing. Countering this, she's also stubborn, overconfident, and somewhat spoiled, always trying to get her way somehow, this usually causes some heated arguments with Ryan. Regardless, she’s one of the Rebel Elite, and it shows in her skill and attitude during missions. Rumors abound that Faith has "feelings" for Oswald, and they are not misplaced. She does like the man a fair bit. But still isn't happy with him for leaving her an his other friends alone just to settle the score with Arcadias. They did it together the first time and they can do it again, together.

Background: Faith was born in a small village located not far from where Oswald lived and she frequently visited to see him and train with his father. Faith, however, opted to refrain from the sword and instead wanted to fight using her body. Regardless, they both discovered the Eclipse stone together, and claimed its power, together, meaning she bears the crucial other half of the Idol that Arcadias desperately needs. When Arcadias came to the village and kidnapped Oswald's father, Faith was, if anything, stubborn and decided to travel with Oswald to try and rescue him. She's been at his side since, well, except for when he rushed off alone to try and kill Arcadias for the second time. Idiot. Faith duly followed the man, arriving at the city about a year or so after he did and desperately began her searching. She was shocked and torn to find that he had been imprisoned, but was happy he was at least alive. Soon after, Faith found the Rebellion and promptly joined, training and working hard to become even stronger and free Oswald.

Equipment: Faith, well, has almost no equipment, she doesn't really need it. She'll borrow a rifle or bazooka from the armory if she needs to, and a pistol whenever she goes into the city alone. But aside from that has a small sum of PP, a basic Hoverbike, and her fists.

Powers/Magic: Faith was never one for technology, and barely knows how to fly a Hoverbike. She specializes in Le Parkour, being incredibly agile and aloof. She's good at getting from point A to B and back quickly. Her best skill is her Melee, while being the co-owner of Eclipse means she knows how to handle the blade, Faith prefers to fight using an acrobatic style of her own mixing of martial arts, dodging and countering even harder. Against armed opponents, she usually goes for a disarm attempt, and a follow up with killing her enemy with their own weapon, Ala Assassins Creed 2. What's that? You have a sword? Okay, that's nice. A gun, you say? Okay, that's nice.

-ONE ASS-KICKING LATER-

Speaking of guns, that's her middle skill, Faith disdains from the use of them, but found that they come in handy if she very quickly needs to end a fight or the mission calls for it. She learned how to handle one from Ryan, and became a relatively good shot with all things firearm. Be it a pistol, rifle, bazooka, or sub-machine gun, she can use it all.

Her worst skill is magic, she really only knows quick, first-aid, healing spells that'll keep you in a fight, but will still need to be looked at later. Even then, her first-aid healing wears her out quickly, as it's called naturally and she doesn't practice.

----------

Name: Arcadias (Menya Muramos)

Gender: Male

Age: 47

Faction: Overlord of Shadowmyst. So, technically, Associate.

Appearance: Arcadias is an intimidating man.

This is an Understatement.

Arcadias stands at a towering 6 foot, 6 inches tall, and weighs the better part of 200 pounds. His skin is a ghostly pale color and his eyes, typically in a scowl or a glare, glow red with power and madness. His hair is medium length, going down to just above his neck and is cut jagged, yet symmetrically. Black spirals and lines cover most of his entire body, arcing to and fro to make what could be mistaken for an intricate full body tattoo. The lines seem to emanate from a large black crystal embedded in his chest, the Dark Idol. Aside from these markings, is body is unnaturally fit and healthy, almost the pinnacle of bodily human perfection. His muscles are not unnaturally huge and no part of him seems uneven or mismatched. Oddly, this perfectly human appearance makes him seem even all the more inhuman. Arcadias usually wears a heavy set of armor with long, royal, flowing garments. Typically, he wears a dark purple breastplate with matching greaves, pauldrons, fauld, and gauntlets. Under all this armor is a black, frilled loose, long sleeve shirt, black breeches tucked neatly into his greaves, and a long, flowing purple cape emblazoned with the Arcadian Standard. The most conspicuous piece of clothing on him, however, is his helmet.

Arcadias' helm covers his entire face, leaving only his eyes glaring out from under its surface. It is large, black and blocky, and has several reliefs that run up and along every corner and the sides, these reliefs extend about half a foot above the helm, and all end in a wicked spike. A shorter, thicker spike is seen right in the center of the top of the helm.

Personality: Arcadias is the Overlord of Shadowmyst city. He is the reason why the city is a wretched hive of scum and villainy twisted lair of sin and vice pretty bad place to live. As a person, Arcadias is just a bit somewhat unhealthily completely insane, clouded, deranged and delusional, and certainly in no mental condition to run a city, yet he does anyway. He makes the laws, and his Fiends and Associates enforce them. He despises it when things do not go according to plan, and his utter delusional belief that he is invincible has cost him on several occasions. Oh, yes, and he's evil, in case you didn't notice yet.

Background: Menya Muramos was a headstrong man, he wanted to find the secrets hidden in the world and what the Crystals that inhabited the meteors that ravaged the earth had inside of them that made them so powerful.

He found exactly what he was looking for.

Menya's first discovery lay inside of a vast crevice where one of the largest meteors supposedly landed, the crevice was distinguished in that the world's (new) largest waterfall, Salacia Falls, poured into it. He descended into this canyon, and found the remains of the meteor, and, even better, a way inside of it. At its heart laid an obsidian crystal that seemed to radiate dark energy all over, crackling against the walls and ceiling. Any normal man would have turned back by now, but Menya pressed on forward and touched the crystal, immediately, it fused itself directly into his chest, mutating and changing his body, mentally assailing him with images of raw, nightmarish power. It drove him mad, and from that madness, he learned.

Soon after, he changed his name to Arcadias, based off of the image of the new, peaceful and hyper-advanced Earth he wished to bring (Arcadia is a peaceful, serene, mountainous region in Greece), and he believes Shadowmyst is one of the first few steps in achieving this perfection. Shadowmyst, while yes, is not exactly what one would coin a paradise, he believes that people are weak and imperfect, and that his sons and daughters, what people call Fiends, are truly perfect and humans would be better off as them, hence the creation of his Dark Former.

However, apparently not everyone believes his views, and sees Arcadias as a tyrant and a monster, there is no utopia in Shadowmyst. The world was peaceful enough before he came along. We don't need or want to be... those monsters.

Ignorant fools. Only once they witness firsthand the glory of being my child will they appreciate my kindness.

Equipment: Aside from his armor. Arcadias carries with him Eclipse, Oswald's ultra-powerful sword, and another sword of his own, coined Solace. Solace is what is known as a Zweihander. It is almost as tall as Arcadias, and it's blade is pure black, crackling with dark energy and electricity, anyone unfortunate enough to be cut be it with feel a nasty, cold shock wash over them.

Also, Arcadias pretty much owns Shadowmyst city, having access to pretty much whatever he wants. Only by his good graces will you be allowed a residence in his tower district. And if he sees something he wants that you happen to "own" he will take it from you.

Powers/Magic: Arcadias is a force to be reckoned with. Ownership of 6-and-a-half/7 Crystals of power, an army of dark, vicious servants, and access to a plethora of different ways to kill you with a healthy spoonful of pure insanity tends to make people into those.

Of his combat prowess, Arcadias' best area is in his magic. His preferred way of combat is zapping you with dark energy, taking the form of what appears to be purple lighting. However, he's not limited to simply this. He can magically destroy you in a vast amount of ways; dark fire, waves of pure energy, beams, blasts, mental assaults, whatever pleases him. Also, if a fight goes sour, he will use the Dark Idol and cover his body with inky black energy, outwardly assuming the appearance of a humanoid, well armored Fiend. In this form, he grows large, batlike wings, a long, spiked tail, claws, and all the abilities a Fiend has and more. Notably, whenever he assumes this form, a dark fog falls across the entire area obscuring all vision and causing all outside noise to be blocked out., Arcadias can see perfectly well in this darkness. Giving him an absolute advantage over those who rely on their vision.

His middle ability, if you want to call it that, is his swordplay. While he can't get Eclipse to exactly work for him, it's still a really big sword, and even then he has Solace to back him up. Regardless, if you get into a sword-fight with Arcadias expect a challenge.

Arcadias dislikes guns, seeing them as worthless considering that he can zap you with lightning anyway.

Aside from all this, Arcadias is also unsettlingly intimidating (seriously, if one were a Dungeons And Dragons player, his intimidate bonus would be represented by scientific notation). If he seems to have even an iota of anger or impatience, people panic and try to immediately either A: calm him down, or B: Get the fuck away as fast as possible, or C: just kill themselves, as ultimately it would be a nicer fate. There are very few people in the world at present who can irritate Arcadias and get away with it.

Sign-ups are GOOOOO! But I remind you, please make sure you have also read the First post of the RP thread, which is linked above.

Name: Cartarus

Gender: none

Age: 30, he has spent 2 years as a Fiend.

Faction: Fiend

Appearance: A tall and intimidating demonic monster, Cartarus is one of the highest order fiends. He has a mostly masculine form, including a Sculpted Build that shows even through his black and purple armor. He has three long silver horns coming from his head, red eyes, and a somewhat saurian mouth. He has large silver wings, but they are actually blades, earning him the nickname The Angel of Blades. Cartarus is heavily armored, and has a number of spikes of villainy over his armor, which look like drills. These can spin and create "eviscerating wind tunnels."

Personality: Cartarus is one of few individual humans who have become fiends, in specific the highest order, and this affects his personality deeply. He was inducted with the blessing of the Enigmatic Minion to Arcadias, Ein Woe. Cartarus is a very Well-Intentioned Extremist, deciding to try to change things with Arcadias from within. An idealist, but he is also known as the embodiment of nihilism, since he insists trying to naively fight the system makes you "trash" who refuse to see the truth of the matter. Character Development will change this, and he might have a Heel–Face Turn.

Background: Cartarus was originally a villager whose family and whole village died inexplicably, though it was eventually blamed by Ein Woe on the people of Shadowmyst, and their defenders. But, well, because Ein Woe is Ein Woe, he was responsible himself. Cartarus is now known as the most loyal of the "Archfiends". Cartarus was changed to a Fiend by Arcadias personally

Equipment: Lance Del Rai Azul, a blue lance actually made of energy he can summon at any time. Made of "cold fire", it could just as easily freeze you as it could burn you.

Powers/Magic:

He is very good at magic, having his Fiend Gun, a Cero like blast and the Fiend Quick Gun. These attacks are very powerful, the Fiend Gun, while not as quick as its Quick Gun version, covers an incredibly broad range. The Fiend Quick Gun can knock most opponents off their balance and disrupt attacks. He does have a special Fiend Gun titled Lightning Fiend Gun, which is blue and green, rather than red.

In addition to this magic, he also has his Serrated Wind Tunnels, which are created by using the drills on his body as spikes of villainy. This attack can leave an unprepared foe ripped to pieces, and it takes a lot of work to completely dodge.

His special attack is Lance Del Raiden Azul, a strong blue lance actually made of energy that Cartarus can summon at any time. This lance has a strong force behind it, and it seems to wait in the air if it misses, and then will, at a gesture from Cartarus, fly again at the foe.

He also has a special attack that can come from two curved drills on his shoulders. These shoot out Razor Wind that can combine and fly at enemies.

He is good/above average at melee, given that his lance can also be used as a close range weapon, and his personal sword, The Languishing Disaster is extremely long and capable of slashing through surroundings. Cartarus can summon his sword on demand, and it usually shows up as a red flash before appearing.

He is not good at Ranged Combat, having never used a gun and he "never intends to."

A Note on his spells:

Fiend Gun: condenses his dark magical energy into a powerful blast that has a lot of range and power. Is an attack able to be used by any Fiend, although as they become more powerful, the Gun becomes stronger, and some of them even have different colored blasts.

Cartarus' blast is the normal red, but he is also capable of the Lightning Fiend Gun, which is a blue version that is very powerful and capable of utterly destroying most enemies, literally taking their molecules apart.

Fiend Quick Gun: a quicker variant of the above, used by Cartarus, Garuma, and Ein Woe. This attack is not quite as powerful as the Fiend Gun, but is twenty times faster. Its very hard to dodge effectively. If the user is strong enough, the Quick Gun can become strong as the normal Fiend Gun and retain the speedy nature.

Cool character Nick, a few things that need tweaking though.

1: Blade Winged Angel? That sounds way to close to a certain White-Haired Pretty Boy to me to let that fly. How about Bladed Angel instead? Shorter, less obvious, and easier to get out of the mouth.

2: Thing about Fiends. Conventional Fiends are made via the Dark Plant, which Arcadias has to personally use to operate and uses dark energy to create the monsters from scratch, instead of from Humans. Humans are made into Fiends with the Dark Former, which is a new invention and is only just being activated by the time the RP starts, in fact, Oswald is the first subject. So there's technically no way Cartarus could have been a Human-turned-Fiend yet in the story through the Former.

However what I may suggest is that instead of Carturus being turned by the Former, he could be Turned by Arcadias himself. PM me and we'll discuss this.

3: Your Powers/Magic aren't formatted correctly, and frankly, a bit confusing. You're supposed to List it off in terms of Melee, Ranged, and Magical skill in-so-much as that you can be excellent in one field, somewhat good in another, and adequate-poor in the last. While listing off named abilities is fine. You're also supposed to tell us how you fare in these areas. Look at my characters as a reference. Ryan is Excellent at ranged combat, good at melee, and doesn't use magic at all. Arcadias is Excellent with Magic, good at melee, and doesn't even use guns. From the looks of your character, It seems like he's good at melee, average with magic, and bad with ranged weapons, but I'm not certain.

Fix those three and you're good to go.

Also, are you going to be making a bio for Ein Woe?

Phew... long post is long. Very well here's my character, I hope everything is alright, though if anything needs changing please point it out.

Name: Elice Katherine Ward

Gender: Female

Age: 25

Faction: Civilian

Appearance: Dirty blond hair reaching halfway down her back, red eyes and a fair complexion. 5,5 feet tall, with a thin but athletic frame. She has a small scar on her left cheek. She typically dresses in comfortable, light brown pants, leather boots, a light shirt, two belts around her waist filled with pouches, another one slung over her chest and a jacket or hooded cape depending on the day. You can count on all those pouches, jacket, boot and everything else to hold something capable of inflicting harm on an enemy. She also wears brown leather half-gloves on both hands.

Personality: A Suave and confident young woman who has been fighting most of her life to survive. She tends to be friendly to friendly people and to taunt and mock her enemies. She enjoys witty banter with her most direct oponents. Because of her tough life she has learned to take care of herself while still appretiating the help of those with a kind heart that helped her survive on such a grim city.

Background: Elice was born the daughter of a wealthy merchant and his loving wife in the very same year that Menya's mind was tainted by the Idol of Darkness. Her father became interested in the newly rising Shadowmyst city and sought to invest and move there. The honest merchant and her wife whoever did not fare well in such a corrupt and disruptive city and by the time Elice turned 5 she was an orphan.

The young girl lived a hard life on the streets of the dark city, surviving from scraps and the mercy of many temporary caretakers. She learned to brawl and fight out of necessity, commiting her first murder, in self defense, at the tender age of 12 when she broke into an apparently deserted home to spend the night, only to wake up to the sight of the drunken owner wielding a dagger on her. That same dagger she managed to wrestle out of his hand and it ended up as the one that ended the man's life.

From that day onwards she trained, only the strong survived and a combination of determination, dedication and sheer luck gave her the oportunities to stay alive. At 16 years of age she started living with an aged spell caster, watching his back, cooking and cleaning for him in exchange for tuition in the art.

By the time she turned 22 she started her carreer as a mercenary fighter of sorts doing all kind of odd-jobs. For the right price and the right cause she would do almost every kind of work, mostly bodyguard duty, though she tried her hand at almost anything.

Her last and most notorious work was a rescue operation. The a certain wealthy individual was found having an affair with a lowly woman from the slums. The wife moved influences to make certain that this girl was taken to the arena to face a certain death. The husband, desperate to save his darling looked for somebody to rescue her. Elice was crazy enough to take his offer in exchange for a good price and a special dagger. Leaving all her equipment behind save for this dagger, which would hide as a little black spot on her right palm and a magic cristal similarly disguised on her left hand.

The husband then made the same kind of arrangement as his wife and manage to get Elice in the arena, whom everybody thought was just an especially incompetent housemaid. That is until the Fiends where released and all hell broke loose. The mercenary woman took advantage of the element of surprise to quickly eliminate her inmediate threats, take the young lover and then run the hell away from there using her agility and magic powered athletics to get herself to the spectator seats. From there it was a mad rush and fight to protect the lover, break down barriers with her shadow magic and more importantly, staying alive.

One way or another she made it to the parking lot where she hijaked a hover bike to make her escape. She flew around the city in hot pursuit, barely dodging laser fire and potent spells the whole way to finally crash on the slums of the city for another mad dash.

By midnight a heavily bruised and unconcious, but very much alive young lover was delivered to the men of husband, by a bleeding, grinning and slightly less alive mercenary called Elice.

The mercenary has been laying extremely low since then, though currently her wounds have healed enough for her to risk going out hidden through the streets.

Equipment: A simple dagger she keeps from her first murder, a saber, several throwing knives, an enchanted dagger that can be hidden on the palm of her hand as black spot, a round magic cristal she wears on the back of one of her gloves, two revolvers, lockpicks, some first aid equipment. And 67 PP, she never has a lot of money since she spends most of it very quickly. She has stashed weapons and her other stuff all around the city in little hiding holes.

Powers/Magic: Where Elice really shines is on her melee skills. She is incredibly athletic and far stronger than she looks like. She learned to fight with almost anything at hand, though her ideal weapon of choice is to double wield a dagger and a saber. Opponents will find a quick and nimble fighter that moves constantly in a flurry of strikes, who uses her enviroment to her advantage and who packs a stronger punch than expected.

Her somewhat good skill is the magic she learned in her teenage years. She uses the energy she channels through her cristal mostly to enhance her physical abilities, better her reflexes and hasten her healing. Though when she finds a particulary tough enemy she is capable of summoning dark waves of magic to assist in her attacks, summon patches of darkness to block the view of her enemies and such. She also know a few small magic tricks like how to completely hide in a shadow and such.

Finally her adecuate skill lies in the ranged. She carries her two pistols mostly to threaten people since she has seen better reactions at the sight of one instead of a dagger. Still in a battle she often uses both pistols as a distraction to make her enemies take cover as she fires randomly in their direction to give her time to approach.

She has a somewhat better aim throwing knives but they often lack enough punch to be truly effective.

Reassessing the previous three points above Nick.

1: Angel of Blades. That. Is. Awesome.

2: Alright, just one more minor tweak here. I'm assuming 30 is how old he was in terms of his life as a human. As a Fiend, I can't imagine he's been serving Arcadias for that long. You should add an additional age in terms of how old he is as a Fiend. Aside from that you're good in that department.

3: Your format's correct. While I'm not going to enforce it on you, you could stand to go a bit more into detail about the Quick/Fiend Gun and Lightning version. Hell just a definition of what the Fiend Gun is in general, is it a spell or…?

Also I was thinking of introducing my two characters, Thompson and Stella during an arena break (which Thompson caused by taking advantage of his soon to be revoked, membership of the Associate). If that is not possible I'll put it as something in their backstories.

EDIT: I was supposed to post this in discussion...oh well I'll get back to character development

Yeah, this would be better off in discussion, but since it concerns your characters, I'll let it sliiiiide. I would really rather prefer it if you'd be actively R Ping when the RP, you know, starts. If that's irrelevant, then cool, but the more people on board when we get going, instead of In Medias Res, the better.

Name: Doctor Maxwell Waldstein

Gender: Male

Age: 64

Faction: Associate

Appearance: An elderly, average-heighted caucasian man that still moves with some grace despite the ravages of time over his body. His once black hair has bleached fully into white, wrinkles appearing all over his once round and affable face. He is usually seen with stubble. He dresses slightly old fashioned, wearing dull coloured trousers , shirt, a bowtie , leather shoes and suspenders, which he usually covers with a long dust cloak or lab coat with lots of pockets. He also wears a pince-nez.

Personality: Maxwell is a... quirky man. He is often found absorbed in his neverending thirst for knowledge, neglecting most humane interactions. He is however a fairly decent person... which happens to be working for the wrong side out of a debt of gratitude. Maxwell shares Arcadias' views, albeit he is growing bitter at how his utopia is implemented. Unlike most associates, he does not dwell in misery nor sycophant antics, and will speak up when others cower, seemingly unfazed by Arcadias' intimidating presence. For all of it, he's often taken for a fool, but foes who have earned his emmity (and you have to try hard to do so), will often find themselves outwitted and begging for a swift death that may or may not come.

Background: Once an exiled magic user from the Council due his interest for the old Earth's Science and taboos, Max was saved from a sure death in the wasteland by Menya Muramos, himself on a similar taboo quest. Out of gratitude, Maxwell swore to accompany Muramos to world's end if need be. Maxwell would regret his oath soon enough, as Muramos was turned into the Arcadias madman. Still indebted to the now Overlord in the rise, Waldstein found a niche in a profession that the rise of Shadowmyst brought back in the world from the mists of time: that of Scientist.

He has since then studied the wonders of the old world and mixed them with his own new world magical lore, becoming one of the city's most notorious researchers. Recent events, however, such as the Eclipse incident and the creation of ... the Dark Former have begun to distance Maxwell from his once benefactor, and now is beginning to think that Arcadias' blood might be spilt for the sake of advancement and repair.

Equipment: Being an associate, Maxwell owns a penthouse, which he has transformed in his own private lab and storage place save a few humble rooms which he uses to live. He has a rather large allowance in PP for his toys and research, but only carries a few (20) in person.

Being an inventor he's got a plethora of high tech weaponry, mostly in the ways of guns and energy weapons. He seldom carries them away from the lab, save a laser gun he carries in his self for protection. Being a magic user, he also has a slew of crystals and magical trinkets. Like with guns, he only carries a modest ring with a crystal on it.

He also owns a well maintaned yet unassuming hover car, which he uses to move from place to place.

Powers/Magic: Maxwell is not a very good choice for melee combat. He's an old man from a rather sedentary lifestyle. Even if he augments himselfs and heals with magic, he won't stand too long against someone greater than a street thug in a battle of fists.

Maxwell's a good shot with ranged weapons, able to reasonable fire them . It stems from the fact he also makes them and restores them from the old Earth scientific recordings.

His best ability is magic. Having been a magic user since a young age, Maxwell's thaumaturgical lore can wreak havoc on opponents who push him far enough to earn his wrath. Healing. Elemental barrages. Levitation. Teleport.Mind control. And that's just a small fraction of his bag of tricks. There are few people, barring Idol users, who can match his magic.

In addition to his magic, Maxwell is a man of Science, having learnt about a variety of subjects that the pre-magic world had plenty. He can fix, improve, and make anew the majority of Shadowmyst tech, aswell as having good tactical and programming skills.

Name: Ein Woe

Gender: Male

Age: 26, he has been with Arcadias since he was 23

Faction: Associate

Appearance: A youthful looking man, with a look like a Bishonen...on the right side of his face. The left side of his face, though, is a skeletal nightmare. His left eye is a red slit, both his arms are covered in bony armor, his hands are now claws, and end in dangerous nails. It seems he has two large protrusions coming from his shoulders. They are covered by his black "robe of evil". This robe seems to resemble the cloak and outfit preferred by typical Evil Sorcerers.

These protrusions are, in fact, two large tubes that contain odd red fluid and two disembodied fetal heads that he can absorb to gain access to a true form.

Ein Woe appears to be a Monster Clown, having his human side of his face wearing make up that looks like a red tear, and making his right side of his face ashen white. There is a red upcurving bit of make up, like what John Wayne Gacy wore, though its a tad faded.

Personality: He is, first and foremost, a Card-Carrying Villain. He prefers outlandish motions, odd, stereotypical and trite villainous tropes, and seems Genre Savvy to what people think of him. However, as the story progresses [[spoiler: Sanity Slippage happens and he starts to kick more dogs, seemingly for the hell of it, rather than any discernible purpose. He starts to hand out increasing numbers of

Background: Ein Woe has made sure that every living thing that knows about his life prior to his service to Arcadias has been sent to death camps, interred, or even buried alive. Ein seems to resemble a Fiend, but the more elite of Arcadias' men can detect that this is not the case, even though his power is quite formidable.

Ein is nothing like what he appears to be: while he is Obviously Evil, he uses this to make sure nobody takes him seriously. He is, in fact, a very manipulative, psychotic, monstrous organizer of events who it seems has orchestrated and organized a great deal of behind the scenes events, including feigning his own demise at one point to make sure nobody knows who he once was. When he heard, though, that some mercenary girl who used knives and two guns, though, might be able to piece together who he was, he had a very unsettling, yet also quite serene Villainous Breakdown.

Ein Woe now madly fluctuates between screaming that he "loves her enough to throw her to the pits of hell and make a fiend out of her" to wanting to flay her alive.

Equipment: Ein Woe seems to have a large number of backpacks, and he carries a different one with him everyday, depending on the "assignment." He prefers long, bladed staves, despite not needing them due to his claws, and powerful magic. His favorite one is called Ripper Tearer.

Powers/Magic:

Melee: Using the Resurrectus Rosary, his melee is simply average. He is skilled at using his stave, and yet, will probably prefer fighting at a distance.

Without the Rosary, though, he becomes very powerful, using teleporting attacks, and imbuing energies and magic into claw swipes and strikes with the stave.

Magic: He is simply average with the Rosary, preferring black energy blasts he conjures by firing off blasts from his claws. He can amplify a fiend's power by stabbing it in the back and sending in black energy.

Without the Rosary, he loses the amplification power, but gains a multitude of powerful darkness spells and some spells derived from a particular power within him that is specifically Power Born of Madness. He can, in this form, create energy strings which can either slice and dice his enemies, or control them. Ein also seems to have a number of fire based attacks he refers to as "the fires of hell."

Ranged: He is poor at this, and that is at best. He cannot handle a gun with the Rosary on, period.

Without the Rosary, he is simply average, but has a special attack Limit Break where he makes a magical gun on his left arm and fires Beam Spam at you.

Ein Woe will do evil things that will make you laugh, and evil things that will make you scream in horror at him.

Mostly, he masters the Mood Whiplash, like, smiling and saying excitedly, "Don't worry, I will spare your fiance!" Then ripping the guy's guts out and handing them to said guy's girlfriend, "Okay, I spared him from torture by ripping his guts out! Here, have em as a bit of memorabilia of me. Pure evil, baby!"

Here's my second entry.

Name: Clarice Lucia Syrian

Gender: Female

Age: 32

Faction: Rebel

Appearance: A short and slender woman with straight black hair and striking blue eyes. Her heigh and features make her look a lot younger than she really is. She wears a light blue shirt under a white researcher coat with pants or a black skirt depending on the occassion. She also always carries with herself a big old leather bound book with a strap for her to be able to carry it as somebody would carry a bag. She also wears glasses on occassion even though she doesn't really need them.

Personality: Proud, slightly arrogant with a short temper and to top it all she's quite stubborn at times. She's a genious with an insatiable thirst for knowledge. Still she ain't all that bad, her heart is in the right place and though she might grumble when asked about it she wants the city to become a better and just place. Also while she can survive in bad conditions she has quite a taste for luxury.

Background: Born as the daughter of one of the members of the old council and into a family of magic, from an early age Clarice was clearly a gifted girl. She learned things at a great pace, looking at the world with a highly analitical mind. She studied magic as it was expected of her and she found a passion in it, working hard to unveil and explain it's secrets. The girl though caused a lot of problems for her parents due to her highly difficult attitude and blunt tongue.

Still her life progressed as always, easily and slightly unsatisfactory to her sensibilities. While magic always held a great interest to her she wished to expand her horizons and shake free of the tedium of the routine that was her existence.

And then when she was 22 years old her chance came the Year of Blood started and her whole world was shaken to it's core. She voluntered on the war, adapting her magic expertise for the battlefield and in it she found that while it was an incredibly dangerous and bloody afair it quelled the tedium of her life. Still on this war she realized quite a few things. First, she can be hurt and she can die. Second, on the battlefield it doesn't matter if you're highclass or how much you know. Needless to say it was quite a humbling experience.

In the end the war ended and she managed to stay alive through it.

A couple of years later though she finds herself being drawn to the rumors of Shadowmyst city, the lair of the enemy she fought on the war. What drew her was the promises of the old technology that was being revived on the wretched city.

Clarice despised the crazy maniac, but deep in her heart she was a researcher to the core of her being just as much as she was an impetous woman. One night she simply took off for the fabled city. Once there howhever she found the condition of the place to be far worse than she ever expected. Though temped by her greed for knowledge to become an associate in order to learn about technology her morals and pride wouldn't let her. She then set up shop, becoming an independent researcher, taking private jobs to craft magic devices, solve problems and equations and just about anything you might need a smart know-it-all wizard for.

She started working almost exclusively for the rebels from her lab/workshop/fancy apartment in the Blackrain Market. They were mostly perfect for her, they needed a lot of things done, paid well and most improtantly had a good cause that involved having Arcadias smashed to a pulp. Good times.

Equipment: Clarice's most important possession in the whole world is her enchanted tome. It has been the effort of her life since she started the thing when she was ten years old. On it she has put more magic and time than most people would know. It is enchanted to have a nearly unlimited number of pages and made in such a way that Clarice can always find the one she's looking for in a second. On it there are written the formulas for different spells and potions, personal notes, doodles, ready to cast spells that would activate by ripping a page, notes on technology, ect. On end of the book, at the inside of the back cover there is sewn an interdimentional 3-meters by 3 storage space on which she keeps, from her clothes, to wine, pens, cristals, ink, magical devices and just about anything she must carry at the moment.

Aside from that there's her before mentioned residence in Blackrain Market. It is mostly a well furnished apartment that gets a little messy every three days that Clarice spends without having somebody clean it for her. Right now she only has 257 PP on her person, since even though she makes good money she wastes it on really superfluous things like ultra soft sheets for her bed, the best wine money can offer and luxurious meals.

Powers/Magic: Clarice's shinning point is her magic. She's an great wizard with plenty of experience in battle. She mostly focuses herself in light magic, and as such almost all of her spells have a signature yellow glow and light to them. In battle she mostly uses light explosions, shields to defend herself, magical missiles and the such. She works best as heavy artillery, though she deal with most threats as long as she can keep her distance. To counter her weakness at close range she summons a golden lion familiar called Leorium to guard her while she casts.

Her average skill is Ranged. Due to their ease of use she has taken to carrying a gun with her. Also since she mostly uses very long range magic she has developted a spell to reinforce her eyes, enabling her to see very far away and in that way aim better, be it light missiles or bullets.

Her worst skill is at melee. That is to say she has none, zero, nada, arimasen. If it came to physical skills the average teenager will best her in just about everything.

Besides these skills she has a wide range of knowledge and the uncanny ability to figure otu how things work. As such she is good with machines even though she wants to grow more familiar with them. She also knows more than a few things about the crafting of magical artifacts.

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.
