I know.

Luffy did end up liking him because of the length he'd go to protect his crew a family.
Probably why he's willing to team up with Kid now, he's seen how much Kid cares about Killer and his crew. Luffy has an interesting moral code, he can be swayed by Even Evil Has Loved Ones.
You are cool man. Sorry if I was rude myself.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.I was one of those who'd have wanted Monet, mostly because of her design. A female, logia, animal hybrid, capable of flight, who doesn't upset the power balance, filled a lot of things that were missing from the crew. But I recognize she was a long shot.
With Carrot, not only does she cover a lot of that same stuff, she also has warm relationships with the crew, represents another race, has a dream, fills a role on a crew, etc.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyWhat role does Carrot fulfill? Yamato at least can be a record keeper similar to how Oden kept records of his adventures. Carrot would just be another fighter when every other crew member (Aside from Zoro) has a role beyond fighting.

Isn't Carrot the lookout or something? I remember her being on the crow's nest a lot.
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.Carrot could be something like a scout for the crew, the one who checks for any danger when they dock somewhere new. Fits with her being a bunny Mink and her speed and all
she/herScout and apprentice.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyLookout makes sense as an official role for Carrot, since the crew doesn't have an official person for that role and Carrot did that a ton in Whole Cake Island. Honestly, that's one of the stronger arguments I've seen for her joining the crew.
I think the fandom is a weeee bit obsessed with potential new crewmates.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. It's always been a thing. Sometimes justified, such as wondering which Water Seven shipwright would join, with Paulie being the front runner iirc, to less so [insert name here] for nakama.
I'd love Carrot as strawhat, but I genuinely don't think it'll happen anymore given how de-emphasized she's been during Wano.
The pool I'm in is still Tama as Cabin Girl and monster-tamer. The Straw Hats getting a cabin kid would be a nice Bookend with Shanks, and her dumplings have serious potential.
So I've been reading One Piece for a few months now, I'm up to the Zou arc currently (I started by watching the anime up to the end of the East Blue saga, but that was taking forever). A bunch of my friends were caught up and recommended it heavily and man, it didn't disappoint. Probably one of my favorite manga currently. Possibly recency bias, but right now my favorite arc/saga is neck and neck between Water 7/Enies Lobby and Dressrossa, with Alabasta a close third.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.I still have a soft spot for Marineford. It was probably the biggest Wham Episode arc that signaled a major shift in the series. It also gave us a taste of what battles between One Piece's heavy-hitters are like and highlighted how much further Luffy still had to grow before he could call himself Pirate King.
Disgusted, but not surprisedHow mad would you be if:
- A major Western animated film studio (like Dreamworks, Illumination or Sony Pictures Animation) got their hands on the One Piece license and made a movie based on OP with:
- An obviously shoehorned All-Star Cast (e.g. Tom Holland as Luffy, Chris Pratt as Zoro, Scarlett Johansson as Nami, etc.)
- Major plot deviations to the point where it could be mistaken for a Dolled-Up Installment
- The classic humor pitfalls of "modern" adaptations of IPs (Toilet Humor, shoehorned Shout Outs and Were Still Relevant Dammit)
- A song written for it that does not have any relevance to One Piece at all and is just there for something to put on the OST besides all the licensed music. Bonus points if it's recorded by some popular artist.
- Some sort of Spotlight-Stealing Squad that ends up becoming The Scrappy to us fans of the original.
- And last but not least, Product Placement.
Honestly, One Piece is pretty flexible, it's covered a wide range of genres and aesthetics in the manga (islands in the sky/native American culture with Skypiea, political thriller in Venice with Water Seven, Wacky Races with Foxy, zombies and Scooby-Doo on Thriller Bark, Mermaid land with Fishman Island, gladiators and tournament with Dressrosa, red wedding Disney mafia with Whole Cake Island), so it could have all of that and still turn out good if the execution was good.
Just going down the list:
- Wouldn't be that bad.
- They'd have to do an original plot anyway, unless they were just straight adapting an arc.
- Oda's no strange to Toilet Humor, and fans would embrace the Shout Outs as Deep Lore, though Were Still Relevant Dammit would suck pretty hard.
- That could also work fine. Again, One Piece's story is flexible, if you matched the story to the song, it could work.
- Every One Piece arc introduces like 20 new characters who are super important to the story of the arc, this wouldn't feel any different.
- This would be annoying.

What I was implying there was an adaptation of One Piece that would fall into the exact same pitfalls as most "modern" animated or live-action hybrid films that use intellectual properties, like SCOOB!, The Smurfs, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and the "Doogal" version of the 2005 The Magic Roundabout movie.
Thousand Dreamers, Watashi wa Saikyo, and Believe slap so hard.I don't understand where you're coming from with this hypothetical.
If you just want to talk smack about those studios, there must a better thread for that.
It's better if we stick to talking about One Piece here.

I don't think it's recency bias. Water 7/Enies Lobby is consistently considered one of One pieces best arcs. It's one of my favorite paradise arcs as well. (My favorite is Thriller Bark, not because I think it's better, but because I'm a sucker for the whole horror theme.)
You lost!It was cool how the whole arc felt like a Halloween episode.
Plus, it's got Usopp vs Perona and introduces Brook, my favortite sh.
You lost!
Jimbei strongarmed him into considering an alliance with Bege, the final decision was still on Luffy's shoulders.
