If Oscar Wilde had lived in our time, he would be a /b/tard.

Actually, scratch that. He does, and goes by Jethro Q Walrustitty.

What they say: "Stop blaming white people for all your problems."

What they mean: "Stop talking about institutional racism."

It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.

I wonder, if I went back in time to like around Shakespeare times and talked to someone, what would they think of the way I spoke?

Everybody's all "Jerry's old and feeble" till they see him run down a skyscraper and hijack a helicopter mid-flight.

I really hate how small these avatars are. I got this all commissioned and yet it looks all muddled this small.

I'm giving up anime. I find that common tropes have become too repetitive and the community has become too toxic. This medium has caused me to feel either frustrated or guilty and I believe I'm better off without it. That said, I'll still enjoy the series that I own and will continue to enjoy those.

Then I find out Attack on Titan and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure have new seasons being released.

How to enjoy anime:

  1. Engage with the community as little as possible
  2. Watch shows on your own terms

It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.

I like to enjoy older anime in those times. The fandom for those have died or became smaller and more dormant, and they've become separated from anything related to what's going on today.

No joke, I actually stayed away from Darling in the FranXX for a while because of the massive backlash against one of the characters.

It feels like it's been taking AGES for it to be dark enough for us to start messing with the fireworks... just a few more minutes left!

There's this undeveloped bit of hill near me that's a good vantage point for the Boston fireworks - it's technically on someone's property and kind of a scary hike in the dark, but when I have nothing else going on the 4th I still climb up there, as I did tonight.

[up] I am now, thanks. Lucky it's all sand there. My right side hurt like hell and I was pretty badly winded when I first hit the ground, not to mention wet and sandy so my instructor had to get me a change of clothes because we didn't bring one (I even got sand in my mouth and nose). But I recovered and got back on the horse and finished the lesson, and I showered as soon as I got home so yeah.

This random thought occurred to me today.

A lot of people say Monty Python and the Holy Grail gets quoted too often, to the point that they also say that doing so makes it lose its funniness. At the same time, though, you can say quotations from The Wizard of Oz as frequently as you want and nobody so much as raises an eyebrow. Why is that? :S

The only quotes I hear from Wizard are

"Ding Dong the witch is dead"

"Follow the yellow brick road"

"Lions and tigers and bears oh my!"

Contrasting that with Mony python they quote entire skits over and over

I think it's because Monty Python was huge with the tabletop gaming crowd, whereas Oz is more for the general public. And the gaming crowd got to the internet first.
