This thread is for tropers who have trouble with English and would like some help with the crazy grammar of this crazy language.

Write down what you wish to edit on the wiki. If you have been suspended from editing, another troper might be kind enough to edit for you after your suggestions have been corrected.

The thread is for help and feedback on your own suggested edits.

If you want help correcting other people's edits (e.g., if you find a page which seems to have grammar problems but want a second opinion, or you don't feel able to fix it by yourself) then that's off-topic here, but we have a separate Grammar Police cleanup thread that can provide assistance.

Ok thank you and I mean the bottom of the hovercraft shreds While Tiger's clothes. Also I put Played for Laughs in the beginning. Does it count?

Oh, it's White Tiger whose clothes get shredded. Let me rewrite it. (You can probably re-add spoiler tags too, I'm just making it clear for now.) Clothing Damage can be Played for Laughs so I think it counts?

Clothing Damage: In the last scene, Keung, Nancy, and Elaine run over White Tiger with a hovercraft in the golf course, shredding the back of White Tiger's clothes and leaving him butt-naked.

Sorry if I was absent for a bit, I was trying to be more careful on adding or editing TV Tropes. So for now, I might test some grammar first here before I add things.

Sock Series

  • Acid Attack: Ceriazibus uses a rather gruesome variant. When their guts are flailling around out of their body, they spew gastric acid everywhere.
  • Body Horror: The series as a whole is ripe with this
    • After Ceriazibus slices a giant plant that crushed them, they have a big hole in their belly and their organs are flailling around. Their big wound also appears to have teeths.
    • People affected by Sock's radiation powers become horrific masses of flesh.
    • When Sock's owner find the receipt for his evil hamster, he suddenly starts to cry lava, then when Sock is turned into a cross by his cultists and seemingly brings the apocalypse to Earth, the owner's head turns into stone with a big hole spewing lava. It's like a became a fusion between a stick figure and a volcano.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: All humans look like actual humans in a stylized artstyle like you would expect to see in a children book (even if this series is ''anything'' but that). Sock's owner however, looks like a stick figure with thick arms and legs.
  • Skewed Priorities: At the end of Empire, Sock's owner is looking in his house's wreckages for Sock's receipt, all while sporting a mildly annoyed expression, despite the fact that the city he lives him just got completely destroyed by a demonic hamster, an army of monsters from hell and three gods. He's even happy to find the receipt as if bringing back his evil hamster to the pet shop would change anything.

(Note: Yes Ceriazibus is a creature whose gender is unknown, hence the "they" pronoun)

The Legend Of Zelda CD-i games - YMMV

  • Memetic Personality Change: Memes tend to portray Lord Kiro as some kind of embodiment of Undying Loyalty since all the cutscenes he appears in either have him calling the Duke Onkled a traitor or saying he'll keep an eye on him.

Madness Combat - Character (Deimos)

  • Faster Than They Look: In DedmosRebuilt, he gains a new form where his jaw, chest and hands are covered in rocks, while one may expect him to be a literal Stone Wall, he quickly prove that he have even more agility than before, can do fast and strong punches, and even jump and dash in a direction while in the air. And being half-rock does not hinder his ability to avoid bullets at all.

Animator VS Animation - Hidden message I'd like to put on the top of the page:

[up] For the hidden message, remember that you will have to put two % signs right before the text you want to put, so it won't show up on the page.

("canon at all" would work, but I personally think "considered canon" conveys a more professional tone that fits better for this message.)

Tried to launch a trope called "Shallow Deconstruction" but I was told I didn't do good job of describing it so it bombed. I was wondering if anyone here could have worded it better?

It's similar to Shallow Parody in that the person behind it either doesn't know enough about what there talking about or are simply too preoccupied with taking down a genre, they don't give it nuance. They make a strawmen world to deconstruct is what I mean.

Some said it was a "Complainer Trope" and I want to avoid that.

Forgive me if this get's long.

The main example of Shallow Deconstruction I used was the The Boys.

It's called a Deconstruction but I believe it didn't meet the perimeters of one since it wasn't a fair analysis of the implications of Superheroes on the real world, but a story about frauds who dress up and have powers, but don't have any positive characteristics at all and, In fact, had a excess of negative ones.

The narrative was focused on using to criticize corporations and such, with the supers standing in as celebrity's that they sponsored.

It wasn't really deconstructing "what if superheroes existed" more like "what if assholes had powers and all where created by the same company?"

Which is another example of what I mean. In the real world superheroes where made by multiple companies with different backgrounds that eventually merged together.

(there's a well written Shallow Parody entry on it's YMMV that inspired the idea behind the Trope) https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/YMMV/TheBoys

Bear in mind, I'm not even confidant I've explained, my explanation, correctly. I'm just trying to improve my writing.

I think the issues with that draft go beyond the scope of this thread. The word choice wasn't so much the problem as much as the way it was defined.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.

Right, the major problem I had was that I didn't understand how you were defining a deconstruction. I asked multiple times on the draft, but got no explanation.

The Trope Idea Sounding Board might be a better fit.

Defining seems to be the problem. I don't know how to define things for other people, since they could have a different concept of what I'm talking about, and my brain has always been "this is that" when it comes to certain things.

I know that's not good enough for people, they want details, I don't know if I can provide.

I understand and sympathize, but it's kind of a problem where TLP is concerned, since the entire point is to define patterns. If you can't define deconstruction, and thus can't properly define Shallow Deconstruction, there's no chance you'll get the trope launched.

Anyway, this is off-topic for this area. Again I suggest the Sounding Board.

Implied Rape is when the words rape, sexual assault or molestation are never uttered but they are implied to have happened.

This is mostly done with the use of certain words and phrases or the behavior and actions of a person.

The most likely reason this happens is because it is in a work in which they can't say the word, like a kid's show.

Compare Never Say "Die" and The Body Parts That Must Not Be Named.
