To-do list:
- Disambiguate the page and move or remove examples on non-Archive pages other than Ambiguity Index.
Last year I ran a wick check that brought to a TRS thread that ultimately... brought to nothing. The discussion still went on with both a dedicated cleanup thread and a discussion in Trope Talk, and in the latter thread we finally found some options:
- Cut the trope altogether.
- Move it to Darth Wiki.
- Turn it into a disambiguation between Animation Lead Time, Comic-Book Time, Technology Marches On, Totally Radical and Unintentional Period Piece.
And we decided it's better to give it another TRS run to decide on its final fate.

Opened.
Asterlix made a "Trendy Pop-Culture Reference" trope suggestion as discussion on that thread concluded. Since it's objective and not too similar to what Were Still Relevant Dammit aims/once aimed to be, I think it can be TLPed independently of this thread.
I'm in favour of making it a disambiguation. I vaguely remember that the TLP drafts Nebulous Now and Instantly Dated were made in response to the original TRS thread — did they ever go anywhere?
I'm favor of a disambig. Very few examples are worthy of keeping for discussion, not to mention all of the misuse. If that TLP draft is something that'll exist, I see no reason to keep this item.
I would also say that Audience-Alienating Era would be good on the disambig list as well, considering sometimes this perceived shift happens because it is actually this era.
I thought it was less "dares to acknowledge the current society instead of pretending we're still in the year the franchise first premiered because smartphones are so cringe, eww" and more "waits five years after smartphones become mainstream to even acknowledge them, and then does so in a way that makes it clear they how no idea what they are."
I mean, maybe misuse has destroyed it, but I think that's very much a thing. It's the "parent who tries to relate to their kids without knowing anything about their interests" but in media.
The name could be less negative though, definitely.
Two Decades Behind kinda covers the idea that this settles, but maybe a more Audience Reaction-Based Five Years Behind equivalent would be a good item to launch as well.
I suspect that no matter how we name it, the trope would attract complaining.
@NitroIndigo Actually Nebulous Now was for the Unintentional Period Piece thread; don't know about Instantly Dated.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallAh, yeah, I guess it's somewhere between Two Decades Behind and Totally Radical. So this is sort of redundant anyway, so I'm in favor of disambiguating.
I'm putting my vote for Disambig.
