Honestly, Homestuck would probably fit better under Web Original than Webcomic: it started as a webcomic, but also consists of giant chat logs with no imagery (literature), 10+ minute long animations (web animation), and several browser-based video games.

These are all part of the main comic, not spin-off materials; they are all necessary viewing/reading/playing to understand the story.

If anything, Homestuck being in Webcomic/ is an argument for 17776 in Literature/.

It originally was in literature, and was moved to Web Original after discussion due to not really fitting there.

But if we're deprecating Web Original, back to Literature it goes.

Well, I disagree that it should be depreciated.

That's why we're crownering this thing.

Worst case scenario, the social media stuff ends up in Blog/.

[up][up] No. Since I have to do a case-by-case scenario for some of these, I have to read up more on them.

I'd like to apologize for all this.

Me: We can already do that. [Move Web Original/ pages to more specific namespaces like Web Video/, Literature/, etc.]

FernandoLemon: Actually, we can't. We can do that with a significant portion of them, but the scope of some other namespaces is still unclear. You mentioned Literature/, but there's currently no rule about what goes there and what goes on Web Original/. So, we need a crowner to decide this.

You're missing my point.

1) I was referring to pages that have namespaces to go to. Hence that part of my post being directly followed by "What about Web Original/ pages that don't have a more specific namespace to go to?"

2) Moving Web Original/ pages to more specific namespaces, figuring out appropriate namespaces for Web Original/ pages, and even creating new namespaces for Web Original works... none of these things require the Web Original/ namespace to first be retired. We can work on them right now.

Examples would aid your case. There's that page you made, yes. What else?

What Orbiting said, but also: even if said page was the only example, it still needs to be taken into account. If we can't retire Web Original/ without shoehorning any pages, then that means there's a need for the namespace.

This leaves 17776 as the only "weird" work left, and it can be put into Literature/ for lack of a better option.

Mentioned it in this post already, but there's also this online quiz.

If anything, Homestuck being in Webcomic/ is an argument for 17776 in Literature/.

Not gonna get into Homestuck's classification right now, but if you have to ignore large portions of a work (17776 as a whole has well over an hour's worth of video content) to put it in Literature/, I'd say there's some shoehorning going on.

By the way, more opinions on this? Currently four votes in favor of cutting a couple of them, and no discussion at all on the others.

I'd like to apologize for all this.

Usenet is in Website, even though it's a completely different technology that predates the web. Given that precedent, I think the dragon quiz can fit in Website/; that might also be the right place for Homestuck and 17776.

Website.Usenet looks like misuse of the Website/ namespace. I'd say it should either be in Main/ (like The Internet, Blog, Fora, Message Board, etc.) or Useful Notes/

Yeah, it reads more like a Useful Notes page than a work, complete with an 'appearances in fiction' section.

Useful Notes for that one. The idea of Usenet being classified as a website is hilarious to me, who practically grew up with it, but definitely wrong.

Jenny Everywhere was also discussed for either JFF or Useful Notes, since the page mostly concern's the character's appearances in other media.

I'd like to apologize for all this.

John Munch is JFF, which is the closest example we have.

Jenny Everywhere, unlike John Munch, is an "an open-source, freely licensed character". She looks to be close to a Public Domain Character, and in fact is indexed on that page. Public Domain Characters appear to go in Main/, a medium such as Myth/ or Literature/, or UsefulNotes/.

[up] I'd say UsefulNotes/. She definitely can't go on WebOriginal/ because, unlike the other characters on that list, she doesn't have a work attached.

I'd like to apologize for all this.

Jenny is kind of a special case. Maybe Characters/ for her? I could also see her fitting in Main/, since Jenny Everywhere isn't a work, she's a character who appears in various works. One could view her as a trope in that regard.

She definitely can't have a character page without an attached work page. Does she have enough appearances in media to justify moving her to main?

  • Surreal Memes also deals with user-generated memes, so it should be treated the same as those other meme pages we talked about.
  • Capes And Cowls and Upvengers Initiative are both stubs filled with ZCE, so I'd cut them based on that. The latter is also told mostly through Discord (so I'm not sure it's available to the public?), the Subreddit seems to just be to post memes.
  • Bad Two Sentence Horror consists of reposts of stories from the r/twosentencehorror Subreddit.

Hm, this is interesting. Twitter accounts such as Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter, dril and The Sun Vanished are all on the Blog/ namespace.

So if Thoughts Of Dog, Historical Heroine and Sanrio Boys are to be kept, they'll probably be moved there. The former two are a collection of "random thoughts and jokes" tweets. The latter is unviewable to the public, but the tropes can be merged with Anime.Sanrio Boys.

(Bad Two Sentence Horror is also a Twitter account, but I already commented on it in my previous post)

I'd like to apologize for all this.
