Suggestion: Anime

So I noticed main image has been like this for a very long time now and it feels outdated as it only consists of anime characters from the early 2000s and before that (and that most people nowadays would not remember most of the anime characters in the current collage). I was thinking of replacing it with a collage or a montage that also features more recent anime. I was thinking of having something like this as the new image:

Yeah, the old one is small and outdated, though the suggestion is just as narrow.

If the image posted by the OP was created by them, then I feel like maybe moving up the Pokemon at the bottom of the image into the crowd would be a good idea, since asides from them it's just the lower bodies of the characters above them.

I'm also slightly bothered by how the pokemon use the Sugimori art and not, ya know... anime art.

I have two problems here:

• Just as Examples Are Not Recent, it would be better to pick something to not have this conversation again in 10 years, preferably something that illustrates the medium conceptually instead of collage. We've pulled a few genre images because they were just selective lists of works and not describing the genre.
• Both the current and the suggestion are just cherry-picking. Because There Is No Such Thing as Notability, we can't have some characters stand out more than the others. The characters may be from best-selling works, but the characters aren't going to be recognizable to someone who haven't seen them. And as someone who knows them, I find quite a bias to Shonen Jump works in the suggestion. And tbh, almost none of these characters are Anime characters, they came from adaptations of Manga.
• I'd rather not have an fanmade wallpaper we wouldn't be able to properly credit, and I've found its DA page.

Yeah, I'd prefer to not have a collage for the above reasons. I think a single image that illustrates the medium would work better.

Making a mental note to re-review Shirobako and Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! in case someone else also wants to check them before I get to, as they literally have anime production as premise, so there may be some good conceptual shots.

That seems not only impossible to prevent, but also silly to try. Discussing whether to change a page image once a decade is not exactly an onerous task. And I'd be astonished and concerned if neither TV Tropes nor anime continued to evolve over the next decade as much as they have since 2012.

Now that I've had a chance to look at the page, I vote to pull the current simply for being overly crowded, and also to the OP for the same reason.

Okay, I can definitely see as to why my suggestion isn't as good as it seems but I'm glad that most are agreeing to update the picture. I also think Amonimus' suggestion looks interesting, but I still think it's not enough to fully define the trope.

I vote to keep current image bc even if it's outdated it still illustrates anime regardless and we've permission to use it, unlike a random wallpaper. I don't think it being outdated is that of a problem.

I think this should demonstrate something that's specifically tied to Anime and not just a bunch of random characters to distinguish this from Manga.

The Shirobako idea works, but maybe use something where the work is already being translated on screen (maybe something like [1]), because right now it's just like people drawing manga storyboards.

I would vote to keep it on the condition that, if it's a quote from someone that has their own page on the wiki, it be potholed to them.
