What's everyone's favourite boss counter sequence? Mine's a tie between Z-57 and Raven Beak.

Hey presumably Kraid is maybe a looker among his species possibly
Forever liveblogging the AvengersInflamed belly buttons make all the space dinos swoon.
Inflammation is big in baboon dating circles
Forever liveblogging the AvengersKraid's a neckbeard.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order. So I've been trying to decode what themes do the areas represent in Dread.
So far, I know I can denote a few:
Burenia: Down the Drain
Cataris: Lethal Lava Land is the most obvious, as this is just another norfair (only with a Kraid battle instead of a Ridley one)
Dairon: I'd guess Blackout Basement. I'd add Eternal Engine, but a lot of the areas on ZDR incorporate that, for obvious reasons (this one I'd say leans a bit harder, given that it's like a lab)
Ghavoran: Jungle Japes, correct?
Itorash: The Very Definetely Final Dungeon
I'm a bit stumped on Cataris. I think I saw someone say it was a bit of Palmtree Panic, but I don't see it.
The same stump goes for Ferenia and Elun. I think I'm also missing one area (the H one)
Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off the goal.Yeah, I agree with your choices:
- Artaria - Underground Level (Okay, that's pretty much every level outside Hanubia and Itorash, but it leans so much into the underground caves vibe that the others mostly avoid It's either that or Noob Cave.)
- Cataris - Lethal Lava Land
- Dairon - Abandoned Laboratory
- Burenia - Down the Drain or Underwater Base
- Ghavoran - Jungle Japes
- Ferenia - Big Fancy Castle is probably the closest.
- Elun - Temple of Doom (Maybe? The X certainly fit the "doom" part of things.)
- Hanubia - ...I've got nothing.
- Itorash - Ominous Floating Castle

I totally forgot that Templeof Doom was a thing. Agreed. I'll say that at least Dread seems to be less overt with its level themes - and I say that as a good thing. It makes them more complex.
Also, I find it amusing that somehow Metroid managed to get away with a flying fortress (with a throne room and everything) as a final dungeon. I certainly didn't expect that in this series.
Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off the goal.Metroid Prime 2 sorta had one with the Sky Temple, sans the throne.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.Hanubia is essentially Kamino, with a Perpetual Storm.
The metroid wiki says that Hanubia are military facilities
Forever liveblogging the AvengersYeah, I got the same vibe.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. So I heard that Raven Beak can do Shinespark without having the need to charge it by running. I need to see that in a video because if it's true, then it should be added in Raven Beak's Memetic Badass entry.
That is indeed one of his attacks in the final phase of his fight.

Trans rights are human rights.I can't believe Samus got the budget Speed Booster model
Forever liveblogging the AvengersNah, Raven Beak just has more mass and wins the Shinespark joust :V
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls! That would make it a Remilitarized Zone, though not obviously so since it’s Chozo instead of human military. Sort of “Hanubia is to Remilitarized Zone as Standard Alien Spaceship is to Standard Human Spaceship.”
Well, from a non-trope perspective, Hanubia serves as the main military base for Raven Beak's army. It's like the pirate bases Samus raids at the end of each game. It's even got a lab (just not a metroid one, for obvious reasons).
So, in a way, Hanubia IS the final dungeon.
All in all, Dread's levels are hard to differentiate thematically, and yet they still stick out to me. Except Elun, which is more of a small area designed for story purposes.
Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off the goal.I could probably put this on the main thread, but I'll go here to be safe.
Anyway, Raven Beak is much worse at hiding himself than we realized:
Huh. I wonder if there even are Female Chozo?
One Strip! One Strip!I doubt the Chozo were a One-Gender Race given that if they could simply reproduce asexually on their own they wouldn't have forgotten to propagate their own species.
I think it's safe to assume that they did reproduce in a manner similar to real life birds — they mate and lay eggs to produce more little Chozo.

Disgusted, but not surprisedI don’t think they forgot to propagate. I think they chose NOT to reproduce.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. No, they forgot. It's noted in their backstory that by the time they realized their longevity had wrecked havoc on their ability to reproduce, it was too late.
