Character-Specific Pages (CSPs) are created when individual characters have so many trope examples that they can't reasonably be included on a shared page.
The Administrivia Character-Specific Pages policy details the rules that apply to these pages. All Character-Specific Pages must also follow the basic How to Create a Character Page policy, as well as the wiki's more general policies about spoilers and examples.
This cleanup thread handles the following tasks:
- Reviewing and approving new CSP proposals. All new potential CSPs must be reviewed and, if necessary, cleaned up before they're created.
- Agreeing on page names for new CSPs.
- Ensuring that wicks are updated when a new CSP is created.
- Reviewing existing CSPs if there's a concern that they need cleanup, or if it's believed that the character may no longer qualify for a page.
- Merging existing CSPs into other character pages when necessary.
- Ensuring that wicks are updated when a CSP is removed/merged.
- Creating, updating and cutting redirects, as necessary, to reflect these splits and merges.
Crowners are not normally required but, where appropriate, can be used to formalise decisions on any of these points.
If a character no longer qualifies for a CSP, it's often more practical to turn the CSP into a redirect than to cut the page entirely. This keeps the page history visible to users, and also helps to steer offsite 'inbound' traffic (search engine results) to the right place. With that in mind, cut requests for CSPs may be declined and referred to this thread if they don't have a clear consensus.
Comments linking back to this thread can be added to CSPs when needed - e.g. to confirm their creation was approved, to warn tropers that a cleanup is in progress, or to note the date and outcome of a more recent review.
We also have some more general threads for character page help -
- Character Page Cleanup: for trope misuse, zero-context examples, spoiler tagging issues etc.
- Are these character tropes?: for queries about whether particular tropes belong on a character page or on the work's page.
This is not a policy discussion thread, it's a cleanup thread — any requests for policy changes need to be raised in Wiki Talk.
Mod update 07 Mar 2024, reflecting new CSP policy, updated again 22 Mar 2024 to mention redirects for removed CSPs
- Other options must have been tried first, like splitting pages into further groups.
- The character's folder is cleaned up beforehand, fixing any Zero-Context Examples and Wall of Text entries and removing any outdated, misused, or non-character tropes.
- A character's folder is at least 6,000 words/40,000 characters (with spaces). Here is a byte counter.note
- The current character page bypasses technical limitations and requires a split up.
- A single character takes up the majority of a page or is disproportionately bigger than other folders.
Splitting a character into their own page is a major change and needs to be run by the community before it is enacted. Even if you believe a character meets these requirements, they should be run through this thread first. Having other tropers take a look can help spot issues you may not notice or believe to be issues.
Per How to Create a Character Page, character-specific pages should only include tropes that describe the character. These tropes should fall under Characterization Tropes or one of its related indexes, unless they're recurring character traits (distinctive things that the character does repeatedly). If you're unsure what counts as a character trope, you can ask the Are these Character Tropes? thread.
If you have concerns with a general character page, they have their own separate cleanup thread, as do the self-demonstrating character pages.

I was thinking along the lines of like Pyra and Mythra who occupy the same body/temporal space/etc.
Character Specific Page cleanupYeah and I think there is a difference. Like this one has a relatively easy fix while Pyra and Mythra doesn't because if they did I would suggest it. We need to be more careful with these titles because it is stuff like that leads to confusion in my experience. Honestly it's part of the reason I think Darth Vader's page needs to be renamed and stuff like Eddie and Venom from the films should be removed.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadCan someone assist with replacing all the namespace wicks then?
Character Specific Page cleanup~The10th Geek I think it looks fine.
Thank you!! I may not be on here today as it’s my Birthday and tomorrow I have other plans, so Wednesday is when I’ll split the page off.
Why is Alex Murphy at Characters.Robo Cop The Character as opposed to Characters.Robo Cop Alex Murphy? Is Alex is the only robocop? If not, the page should be moved.
Fair enough.

Pretty sure there's only ever been the one. He's not like Captain America or something.
Character Specific Page cleanupWould it be worthwhile to have Characters.Robo Cop Alex Murphy as a redirect?

Currently, CharacterSpecificPages.Literature is not marked as an index. Is there any specific reason for that?
Also, CharacterSpecificPages.Comic Books and CharacterSpecificPages.Video Games have [index] markup in the body of the list, even though, I believe, it's not necceccary to write it if the page does indexing by itself. Is it okay to delete it?

Those pages aren't supposed to work as indexes via mod fiat a couple of months ago (can't find the link right now). They were deemed to be unnecessary and the character specific pages is more of a clean up project. I'll remove the indexing tags from those pages.
Macron's notesIn continuing with the Resident Evil character cleanups, I have tackled the Nemesis subpage here. I don't yet have a sandbox with changes implemented for that character as the changes would reduce byte count to 33K, so it would be merged back into Characters.Resident Evil Monsters Mainstays (which I also cleaned up, but still waiting for feedback in the character page cleanup thread.) but I could add the changes into that sheet's sandbox page.
E: Added archive link to preserve cleanup history.

CSP Cleanup Thread | All that I ask for ... is diamonds and dance floorsLooks like Nemesis was really inflated
Character Specific Page cleanupSomeone created CSP for a bunch of Eden Zero characters as seen below:
- Shiki Granbell (~44k)
- Rebecca Bluegarden (~35k)
- Ziggy (~43k)
- Drakken Joe (34k)
Though looking at the byte counts for each page and the pages they're split from, I get the feeling these were made without prior review or cleanup, at least not with the specs for these pages in mind.
Character Specific Page cleanupShould we merge them back or summon the person who split them here?

Character Specific Page cleanupIma wait a few more days but also posting to note that I added an edited version of Nemesis to the Resident Evil Monsters Mainstays sandbox. Also, had to remove a few more tropes that were either not character tropes or were misuse so the folder is down to 30K.
CSP Cleanup Thread | All that I ask for ... is diamonds and dance floorsCould we get someone to go over The Owl House - Emperor Belos as holy shit Wall of Text.
Like here's one example. I don't want to go through it myself as I was planning to you know watch the show
- The Sociopath: He ticks off a lot of signs for antisocial personality disorder.
- Lack of Empathy and Devoid of Conscience? He has committed more than a few out of some of the most horrific acts ever put to a family-friendly animated series against the denizens of the Boiling Isles, and his expressions when doing so vary from cold indifference to sadistic glee, to a point which goes beyond Deliberate Values Dissonance. Belos also, for a devoted puritan, has absolutely no qualms against using deceit, the very magic he seeks to wipe out, and almost any dirty trick under the sun in order to get his own way. It's implied he may feel some measure of guilt for killing his brother, but never to a degree that ever affects him, as Philip is so lost in his own delusions that he'll perpetually rationalize his brother's death as Caleb's own fault.
- Consummate Liar and Manipulator? As Philip before he changed his identity, this guy's ability to charm others as a manipulation tactic while hiding his malicious true colors was on par with Tom Riddle, never mind how his entire plan to wipe out all witches and sapient demons involved creating an elaborate masquerade for centuries; as Luz, Lilith as many, many others have learned the hard way.
- Pathological Need for Stimulation? Belos' sheer commitment to his plans and to the witch hunter ideology he grew up in, over the course of many times a man's natural lifespan, is as admirable in and of itself as it is disturbing. Furthermore, the lengths Belos goes to in his desire to create a "better" Caleb are implied to actually be a mere pet project compared to his plans with the Day of Unity, further showing how obsessively and singularly Belos pours out his energies into select pursuits.
- Shallow Affect? Belos views the witches and demons he's lived among for centuries as nothing more than tools to be used and as a Boss Battle to be annihilated in his witch hunter fantasies, but more than that, the way he treats his "fellow humans" isn't much better. Whilst Belos apparently has some genuine, suppressed anguish over his ideologically-motivated Sibling Murder of Caleb, what genuine love he may have once held for his brother and guardian is undercut by the extremely-profuse Loving a Shadow nature of his feelings about his late brother and by the gruesome fates of the Grimwalkers. Belos also doesn't hesitate to try and kill Luz via petrification the moment she rejects his outdated philosophy, concluding that she's been "led astray" by the Boiling Isles and that killing her is mercy. All this goes to show that the man Belos grew into doesn't love anyone human, witch or demon as people, he only loves the concepts and ideas that he thinks his fellow humans embody in his warped view, and his disappointment quickly turns murderous when it becomes clear that said humans are in reality a far cry from what Belos perceives.
- Grandiose Sense of Self-Importance? Belos is pathologically incapable of seriously comprehending any worldview other than his own nor contemplating the possibility that his worldview and his actions might actually be wrong. When someone such as Luz calls him out on his heinousness and hypocrisy, Belos always immediately assumes that it's the second party whose perception and assessment are flawed instead of the other way around — the only criticisms from others that he ever seems to see any truth in are ones that are related to his plan's logistics rather than morality.
I'm no The Owl House expert, but glossing through Belos's page as well as the example you gave regarding The Sociopath, yeah, it's stacked with trope descriptions that don't really need to be long and packed (not all of them, but certainly the majority). There are two issues I tend to find with these bulky paragraphs; they tend to go all over the place so there's a lack of being straight to the point and concise, and (maybe it's just me) there's probably some degree of shilling going on with them.
It's basically the same situation as All For One. At this rate, it seems Big Bads who are likely to be labeled as Complete Monstersnote once their work is done really like to hog up attention at a rapid rate.
Just throwing this out, but I think it's funny I'm even commenting on this matter as I myself have been expanding on the character pages of Darkseid and Lex Luthor. As of writing this, they are at around 133,302 bytes and 122,620 bytes respectively, though my main reason for this is that I believe as characters that have had storylines spanning several decades, there's a lot to go through with them + I am doing my best to keep newly written paragraphs as concise, informative, and direct as possible.

"Money is the goddamn plan! Have some faith, y'all!"~Hello83433 : Sorry for the delay, but things have been crazy recently. In any case, I've looked over all your work and I personally think you've done a damn fine job checking everything over. It all looks good to me, so frankly, I think you're good to merge Nemesis to the main page and Cut List the old one. All of your suggestions on your Sandbox look good to me. Anything I could help with at this point?
I know its a mess like the entries are enormous. Is their anyone who knows how to trimm them.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."~Ikea Han: So looks like they didn't respond. Can we merge back Edens Zero Rebecca Bluegarden and Edens Zero Drakken Joe since they don't meet the byte mark anyway?
Over 900 years, he shall recover his heartbeat. Over 90 years, he shall recover his intellect. Over 9 years, he shall recover his power.Hey STAR, no worries, thank you for continuing to look at these . I've seen you keeping the navboxes up to date so, if you don't mind, could you go around removing Nemesis from the navboxes on the character pages? No worries if you don't have the time for that.
I'm going to send him to the cutlist and put in the updated Mainstays page and then I'll start moving the non-char tropes to their respective game pages.

CSP Cleanup Thread | All that I ask for ... is diamonds and dance floorsyeah, I guess so
Character Specific Page cleanupHello, I'm the one who did the Edens Zero splits. Forgive me for acting without reviewing the guidelines.
I will say, I made revisions and additions to the Shiki Granbell and Ziggy pages in sandboxes before creating them, Ziggy's page especially because it was cut up between two separate pages for covering a Walking Spoiler. However, the Rebecca Bluegarden and Drakken Joe pages were more of a last-second choice; since those two don't meet the requirements, I've merged them back myself and have put them on the cut list now, related links removed.
Since Shiki and Ziggy are characters with substantial focus on alternate versions and different personalities, I'd argue to keep them in their own pages. I'll also run it by others in the appropriate place for any similar splits.

IkeaHan: Could we rename that) Because until I clicked on it I thought it was about two different characters. Maybe call it The Played Character.
