So, it's been a trend for soft-split tropes to be split into multiple sections even when it's not needed and makes the page a hassle to navigate. In some cases, the trope in question is so large that hard-splitting some (or all) of the internal subtropes into their pages is more beneficial than letting them take over the page.
EDIT: Here’s the sandbox for this effort—Sandbox.Soft Split Cleanup

Working up from the bottom of Sandbox.Cat Girl. Found an example where the Work Title is an off-site link, with no TVT work page. Do we leave these, or redlink it, with a "Get it Here" offsite link after the title?
I usually format those as a redlink followed by the external link, like "Work Name [1]"

Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.I want to TLP Fake Faint but I am not sure how to write the description (beyond the blurb thats on Fainting. I guess it will come to me somehow.
Do we need to split any more tropes out of Fainting?
Macron's notesPulled from the Faint In Shock TLP, some reasons that someone might fake a faint:
The Guile Heroine may fake this to create a distraction, or to appear weak and helpless. The Drama Queen might fake this to get attention; if she decides there is nothing left that will surprise her she may opt for a more permanent option with Seen-It-All Suicide.
I'm still seeing Fake Faint as a method that a character uses to invoke one or more other fainting-related tropes.
I'm not seeing a Pregnancy Signs trope for Pregnancy Faints to be listed under, but there are only 17 examples. Some of them might fit under a specific other trope...
Stock "Yuck!" is not only split between types of food, but appears to list a general example for virtually every foodstuff on the planet
Absolute destiny... apeachalypse?Plus, it has overlaps between categories, (Prunes vs. prune juice) odd little asides, (use of prune as an epithet for a wrinkled old lady) and thread natter on how to properly cook brussels sprouts... Not to mention the entire sub-page for anchovies. Might have to stew on whether there is a more palatable way to present the information...
The Faint In Shock TLP is launching tomorrow evening, unless I hear concerns that need to be addressed. Last call for reviewing the description, etc. (I think the name is fairly set, but if you've got concerns, better to air them before the launch than after...)
I think you forgot to switch threads, there.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing. No, that TLP grew out of discussions on this thread regarding cleaning up Fainting. Posting here in case those interested in the greater cleanup miss the TLP notifier. If you think there are other, more effective places to leave a notice, let me know.
Created the TLP for Fake Faint. I guess the next step will be to do a whick on {{Fainting}] and then take it to the TRS?
Macron's notesProbably. I'd rather get through crosswicking all of the OP Es that Faint in Shock already has first, just so I don't get lost. (edging in on 250 examples, between what was mined from Fainting and what some very generous tropers contributed.)
Sandbox.Cat Girl (Working from the bottom) is done up through Toys/.
Faint in Shock is live. If anyone wants to help crosswick, we can coordinate in the TLP thread. I want to get the OP Es crosswicked before running through Fainting wicks.
Nearly Normal Animal is softsplit into "Largely", "Mostly", and "Almost" Normal. Not sure this is a real distinction, personally.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.Yeah, those are basically "trope X" vs. "trope Xtreme" kind of distinction, which isn't a really meaningful difference. I'm good with merging those.
The Glasses Gotta Go is split into "Played Straight" and "Played With" examples, which doesn't seem at all necessary.

Do note, the Sliding Scale of Anthropomorphism page also lists out those distinctions, so its more deep rooted than a soft-split on page. Reading through that page, I think that the problem is intrinsic to the approach: Trying to fit everything on a one-dimensional scale, when there are two different types of anthropomorphism to consider: physical and mental. I'm not sure what, if anything, can be done about that, but I suspect its beyond the reach of this thread...
Agreed on The Glasses Gotta Go
I think I am going to make a sandbox for this project soon as there are a lot of tropes to work on.
Macron's notesSandbox sounds good. If you're busy with other projects, I can put the sandbox together, and then you can add it into the first post/get a mod to pin the post.
Sandbox.Cat Girl is now de-split and alphabetized. It includes all changes to the main page as of today. I did end up adjusting phrasing here and there, as well as some context. I've also commented out most ZCE.
The biggest issue was in Comic Books/ — some of the superheros have had multiple incarnations, each with a different way of qualifying as a Cat Girl. I had to do a good deal of trolling through various other pages, as well as off-site resources. Can someone who knows their DC and Marvel long-runners double-check to make sure it all makes sense?
All of the OPEs for Faint in Shock have been crosswicked. Anything else I need to do before I pull them from Fainting?
I created Sandbox.Soft Split Cleanup but thanks for the offer!
I will look over the Cat Girl sandbox and I think you are good to remove the leftover examples from Fainting
Macron's notesSo what does the "Problem" and "On-Going" projects mean?
Well, it hasn't been populated yet, but the idea would be that "Problem" tropes are ones that the thread has agreed are not being well served by their current soft-split.
"Ongoing" would be tropes that we have an idea of what we'd like to fix, but have not fully implemented. Fainting, for instance, looks to be a multi-stage project that may end in TRS - we'll have to see.
Yeah exactly.
I usually format my sandboxes that way but if there’s a better way, feel free to give suggestions.
I will flesh out the sandbox when I wake up.

Macron's notesHeader post pinned per request.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanFound an old ATT query of mine reminding me that No Biochemical Barriers is an issue; due to length it's basically already hard-split, the subgroups just need to be upgraded to distinct tropes.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.I launched Fake Faint. I'll crosswick it more tomorrow.
Macron's notes
Did some sorting on Sandbox.Nerd Glasses and Sandbox.Cat Girl.
