So, it's been a trend for soft-split tropes to be split into multiple sections even when it's not needed and makes the page a hassle to navigate. In some cases, the trope in question is so large that hard-splitting some (or all) of the internal subtropes into their pages is more beneficial than letting them take over the page.
EDIT: Here’s the sandbox for this effort—Sandbox.Soft Split Cleanup

There are a number of game show pages split that way, though there's no evidence we're aware of that there was any actual consensus behind doing it like that.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing. We have permission to unsplit them.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. That was before Tabs was a mod though. I do agree that they should be un-split however.
Macron's notesThe Misophonic is split between "Neurological sensitivity", "Generic" and "Ambiguous". I don't think these distinctions are noteworthy, and there aren't enough examples in each section anyway. Merge?
I've added Gasp! to the sandbox, as it's soft-split between straight and "played with" examples. There are too few examples on the page to justify the split.
Is that okay?

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. No, that's bad. Headers should be removed and examples mixed together.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupOkay, I've reorganised the Gasp! page to remove the soft split. The page has a lot of ZCE entries, so I've addd it to the Administrivia.Pages Needing Example Context page.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.Miss Conception is soft-split into "Type I" and "Type II"...
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing. And they don't seem that distinct anyway, they both boil down to not understanding how puberty and reproduction works.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Yeah, I think we can safely merge the two.
Macron's notesFanfic. One Punch Gamer is... kind of a mess. it's serving as a work page for three different fanfics and is soft-split between them, and the names of the other fanfics are redirects to this page (and it potholes them in the description, so it's linking to itself multiple times over).
Not Brainwashed has two separate sections: "Examples" and "Comedy examples". I don't see any reason to separate them like this, and there are only 6 "Comedy examples" in total, so they will be easy to move
^ "X" and "X, Played for Laughs" is not a really meaningful distinction, IMO. Just remove them
Also, do Sympathetic Adulterer really need to be split into 10 or so different justifications?
Not Brainwashed was already consolidated.
^ No, we don't need all of those subsections. I'd merge them all.
Macron's notesMaybe it used to be three fanfiction pages that somebody consolidated into one page for not individually having enough examples.
I don't think there's a need to split them like that. And I'm not sure if anybody reading would only be interested in opening specific folders while browsing the trope page.
each section now has enough tropes to stand on its own, if that is the case. can i split them up?
Hearing Voices is soft-split into "Insane", "Evil", "Good", and "???" (or "Chaotic Neutral" in the description, which seems like a violation of the character alignment policy in addition to being confusingly inconsistent)
Do we need this split? We're somewhat vexed by it since some works have examples of multiple types.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.9 out of 10 soft-splits go against Type Labels Are Not Examples. Hearing Voices should be resorted as morality shouldn't be relevant, and its description contributes to the problem.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupThis Is the Worst Idea You've Ever Had! is soft-split between the titular work and its sequel, which has a description and trope list tucked in at the bottom of the page.
(also bumping this post since i never got a response)

So, some work pages are soft-split between tropes found in an adaptation, the original version, and tropes that appear in both. This seems counterproductive. Unless the editor is familiar with both versions, how are people supposed to know whether a particular trope they want to add appear in both (original + adaptation) or is exclusive to whichever version they're consuming?
For ages, Token Non-Human has had a separate section for anthropomorphic animals that's so small, it doesn't even have folders. Merging it would be easy, but I don't think I should do it unilaterally.
Well you get my approval at least.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupCreator.Rie Kugimiya's tropes are soft split between her tsundere roles and her non-tsundere roles. Most of the tropes in the former are ZCE and can be removed anyway, but permission to undo the softsplit as a whole?
VideoGame. You Dont Know Jack is softsplit into Game Show tropes and all other tropes. While it does indeed have the format of a game show, I can't think of any other works that need this kind of split?
