Nuke the Rule 34 thread. Merely having it is an invitation to problems with advertisers.

If not nuked, it could at least stand to be locked. A lot of this is either complaining about Rule 34 or talking about the kind of creepy Rule 34 that almost killed the site (namely, art of young children). There's no links or anything but still feels off-mission.

I agree, feel free to nuke it. It's just one thread that doesn't even have that many posts, no real losses to account for here.

That thread was from 2012, and the Second Google Incident was ongoing. I'm surprised no one has nuked that thread.

I've asked about this project in the moderator forum and got no comments.

My take is that the closure of the most problematic threads back in January has solved most of the problems. And that the only thing left is to deal with new problematic threads as they come up.

Regarding that Rule 34 thread, I've skimmed it and it's mainly talking about stuff elsewhere rather than posting problematic material here. The moral panic-like reaction here notwithstanding, I am not persuaded it needs any action.

Not so much moral panic as consistency. We all agreed Tv Tropes should be porn and smut free, and thus that thread no longer passes muster.

But there’s a difference between porn per se and discussion about porn.

Well, do we want discussions about porn? Do we want people discussing their fetishes? We already closed Troper Tales a long time ago for very similar reasons.

Yeah, I agree, it feels a bit iffy. I guess we should keep an eye on it and holler if things get too NSFW?

This is more complaining about fetishes than anything. I thought that was another reason it might be controversial.

I'm casting resurrection on this topic to discuss something that we seem to have missed last time: the "Guess the above troper's fetish" thread over in Forum Games.

In light of our recent reemphasis on tropers and lewdness, should we keep it? I've temp-locked it and directed the conversation here.

In my opinion, no. Particularly now that our new rule is in place, though I question if it would have been allowed to begin with.
