This thread's purpose is to discuss issues within the TLP community and site culture as well as propose solutions to said issues.
Please do not use this thread to report or call out specific users or TLP drafts on this thread. You can make a Ask The Tropers query on the issue, holler, or PM a mod (the first of the three being preferable).
. Based on the earlier Mario Pissing and Gay incidents, as well as observing the behavior of regulars in general, here are some issues I need to address.
- The community is too bomb-happy. By that, I mean, when a stub draft is proposed, users are way to quick to drop the bombs the moment it's available, and this creates a feedback loop where other users are encouraged to drop bombs as well. It gets to the point where the purpose of dropping bombs to offset hats is lost, and people care more about raising the bomb count than anything else.
- The community is unwilling to teach inexperienced sponsors. All too often, I've seen regulars not even trying to teach sponsors the steps needed to improve, and instead, will just give blunt statements that do nothing to help at all. (Ex: "No description! No examples! Bombing for lack of effort!")
- The overall rudeness of regulars. From my observations, most of the regulars are very prone to delving into snarky and sarcastic comments that condemn sponsors, and this is only creating an unwelcoming, toxic environment.
This needs to be fixed because, from the looks of it, those who were not banned from the 5T incident or didn't participate at all didn't get the memo that this type of mentality is very toxic and is what leads to incidents like that in the first place.

Okay, I'm a little concerned about Traveler 123 again. They've become much better at actually offering criticism and not joining in on dogpiling, but they seem a little on edge. As in, they get mad about people not following the TLP rules (and I do get it, but getting angry doesn't help people learn anything) and continually jump to just instantly assuming people are ban evaders (instead of just new tropers making a stub by mistake).
See this recent comment for an example of both unnecessary rudeness and jumping to conclusions.

Sorry if it's not worth bringing up, but they also created this draft that makes fun of tropers who fail to grasp the TLP guidelines, even going so far as to call out specific tropers/drafts. The fact that they used April Fool's Day as an excuse doesn't make it any better.

That draft was discarded, a mod warned them about it, and that troper was already suspended so it doesn't need to be brought up again as things have already been handled. We don't need to discuss this further.

Tech upadates:
- Non-mods can no longer launch drafts that don't have 5 net hats/ 5 more hats than bombs.
- The "prevent edit banned users from launching TLP drafts" was pushed live but it only moved the big launch button for new TLP creation. The individual launch buttons on each draft for edit banned users should be disabled shortly though.

Not really, any random person can still launch someone else's draft without permission, but at least the hats and bombs mean something... And I'm very glad for it.

Wow, that's a pretty big update! And it'll make the process much easier for new tropers to understand even before they read the rules thoroughly.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.

Well, I certaily welcome this new development.
And yeah, this doesn't fix rogue launching, this is for stealth launching. So sponsors can no longer launch drafts that managed to get five hats, despite the number of bombs. Which is indeed a really nice thing to have.

with zero effort. I don't buy VintageEmma's theory that it's a prank and it's very likely the sponsor either doesn't know how TLP works or has mistaken it for Trope Finder. Either way, they are catching bombs and I think it's best to discard both.
