Cleanup for Pages Needing Wiki Magic

I was planning on just monitoring the wick to check on new pages that used it, which generally indicates a substandard page.

NWML got a too long warning. I'll look through it tonight to see what needs to move to other subpages.

One thing that I've had a hard time with (I did spend a bit of time on the wicks a little while back) was determining when a listing is no longer appropriate/needed. Do all of the listed pages still Need attention?

There are also listings that don't indicate what the pages need.

I did remove a couple entries, at least.

Just did another cleanup of the wicks. Strangely, most of the pages actually meet wiki standards (despite the wick being added sometime this year).

That's what my impressions were of some that a checked a while back. Is it possible that (Maybe based on the title?) people are trying to use this more as "Look at this cool page! It deserves more views/attention"?

Went down to Comic Book/ on the general NWML. Removing the one-issue items there removed the warning.

We still have quite a ways.

Edit: Toggled a subjective banner on the page as another stray wick countermeasure.

Had to cull plenty of entries in the Video Games folder alone. Plenty of DOS/Amiga-era titles created from years back that only had a few tropes (a lot of the time a good deal of those tropes aren't elaborated on very well or can't be in cases of No Plot? No Problem!) with minor/cosmetic changes at best in the years since, and I'm not even done combing the folder.

I thought I brought it up before, but I'm feeling too sick to hunt the previous pages. Now that the main page is sorted by category, I think the request "Please italicize the names of works in order to separate them from the trope names." isn't needed and we should remove it. Tropes are in the trope folder, not scattered into the various alphabetical folders.

There is a page called Meta, and I am not sure what it is supposed to be. I reckon it should be cut.

Guess who had to remove some NWML wicks, again. Looks like moving the page to Administrivia isn't enough.

How are we going to tell new tropers "Hey, please do not add this link to a page" without having to do it after the fact?

Numerous notifiers as a preventative measure with individual tropers?

We added a line to the page clarifying it, but uhhhh

that relies on people reading the page instead of just using it like a predefined message so we expect it will see limited results

Caravanner is listed on the page, though it was recently cutlisted for being a duplicate of Caravaneer. I think the remaining page is long enough and has enough tropes to be taken out of the Needs Wiki Magic Love page.

In response to Berrenta's question, I'm not sure it's even worth having Wiki Magic Love at all. I understand that it was meant to help pages with no attention get more attention, but to me it just sounds like what I've heard happened with Please Elaborate except with works instead of trope examples. I wonder if it needs a wholesale cut.

NWML isn't constructed the same way Please Elaborate was (it's an index, it's about entire pages not just individual examples) so in principle it shouldn't have the same problems

it's just the whole "oh I don't want to finish this page I will slap this predefined message down as a cry for help" thing

e: Maybe recut Main.Needs Wiki Magic Love with a reason more like "Misused as predefined message"? Just "Main redirect" by itself doesn't give any impression of "please don't wick this on works pages", and they don't have to read the page to find the namespace from the auto-disambig.

How about renaming to something like "Pages Needing Wiki Magic Love", or even "List of Pages Needing Wiki Magic Love"? I see it already has a redirect at Pages Needing Wiki Magic
