ATT discussion prior to thread creation: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/query.php?parent_id=80565&type=att

The trope definition is literally just "A female police officer who is a homosexual." That's it. There's absolutely no mention of what the character's role in the story might be, and the examples are predictably meaningless as well.

I was told in ATT prior to making this thread that this page has been in the Trope Repair Shop before. At the time, several people called for a cut, but discussion then turned toward carving out more meaningful tropes from the page. Unfortunately, those efforts don't seem to have panned out. But regardless, it doesn't look to me like there's anything in the current example list that we really need to save. I suggest that we finalize the cut and let any potential tropes along the lines of "Tomboy Cop" get off to a fresh start.

Oh hey, this is open now.

So... Are we in agreement about the cut?

Cut. As I said in the ATT query, a character being both a lesbian and a police officer sounds purely incidental, rather than being a naturally occurring trope.

Hey look, it's a Trope in Aggregate, so technically it's a trope after all!

Yeah, no. With a barebones description like that, it seems like a textbook example of a coincidental pattern; apophenia, if you must. While sexual orientation and profession are both things we should list, combining unrelated traits and calling it a trope is still a case of chairs.

Cut.

I do think Tomboy Cop is maybe tropeworthy, being the default assumption for police officers that the Fair Cop subverts. Fair Cop also needs work, but that's a problem for another time.

[up] That was one of the ideas that ran out of steam and died in the original TRS thread. The current page's examples aren't really geared toward that anyway, though, so I don't think we need to keep it around just for that.

[up][up]Even if we get to creating that trope, it's probably better to cut this page and start over in TLP.

The usual term for this a ‘butch cop’ where I am and it is a trope I see a lot in media, not a good thing though but the Stereotype is there.

Sandbox.Sawkman listed it for potential Pantheon stuff, so I could easily cut it... not so sure about Sandbox.Lakingsif.

looks like that's the description from Badass Gay. i cut it from there, so no reason for it to stay in the sandbox, right?
