Character Page Cleanup

Given that Characters.Who Framed Roger Rabbit Judge Doom has Baron von Rotten listed under a separate folder since March of last year (history is here), do you think we should keep the folder or re-merge Baron's entries back into Judge Doom's section?

I think it would be best to give Tohka and Origami back their own pages, as they have multiple consciousnesses who are technically different characters under the same name.

Then maybe move Phantom and Mio to the Spirits page, and create an Itsuka Siblings page for Shido and Kotori. I also don't think Kotori and Origami need separate sections for their Spirit forms, as their characters haven't changed.

Well Tohka's folder is only 28K bytes and Origami is 35K, so both fall too short of the minimum required for an individual page (40K).

The whole page is over 200K bytes so I do think it needs a split or two; however, I'm completely unfamiliar with this work, so I don't know how the page should be split.

I'd like to check and see if anyone is a fan of, or at least familiar with Date a Live as they could do something about helping out in this sort of situation.

A bit of an optimist, but I do think Tohka and Origami can have their own pages. Of course, that depends on whether if someone is willing to work on their pages and bump their byte size up to 40k. That, and maybe there are other ways to consider a split.

Posting a link to the previous page regarding my thoughts on what to do in these pages regarding Superman. I got ignored and would kindly like to at least receive a response about what to do in this matter.

Characters.Castlevania is a mess. It contains the characters in the whole series (over 40 games) and split them again into the categories like "The Belmont Clan" and "Antagonists", creating a overcomplicated index that is hard to navigate. A few Belmonts might be justified, but antagonists that aren't named Dracula or Death usually appear in a single game. The general character index below is also not in chronological release order, but in in-universe timeline order.

Mind if they're split into the respective games again?

It might make sense to split the relevant media type into its own subpages, and having more subpages (or putting each relevant media entry into its own subpage, but that might get cluttered).

As it is, it seems a bit confusing to have the different types of media on the top, then other different entries/media types down the bottom.

The most important part is that it's consistent, and the page doesn't seem to be that in its current state.

Got it. I'll put the characters back to their games and arrange them by media type. Non-video game entries are very short, so I think a reasonable cleanup is to create pages only for video games and put the other medias at the bottom of the main page as Miscellaneous.

Regarding Characters.Date A Live, since the novels order the Spirits by introduction, it could be arranged like this:

The character page for Warrior Cats has the problem that, since the series has a mentorship system that nearly every character participates in, every character who has ever been a mentor to an apprentice, even background characters mentoring apprentices in the background, are listed as The Mentor. I feel like this should be restricted to characters who are mentors of major characters and play an important role in that character's story.

It might lead to The Mentor getting decayed to the TRS treatment, like Badass Grandpa.

Characters.Freedom City Play By Post - ALL the folders on the character sub-page (except ABC and XYZ) somehow contains a link... to an off-site forum. For some reason.

Which leads to the problem that you'll probably accidentally click a link and be directed out of TvTropes, when you only want to open a folder.

Just stumbled across Characters.Emma Frost White Queen (while trying to tidy up new page Characters.Sins Of Sinister, which is for a particular Bad Future arc in Marvel's comics).

In line with the discussion back here, I guess she should really be Characters.Marvel Comics Emma Frost, which is currently set up as a redirect?

Looks like the current arrangement's been there since GeneralGigan moved/split the page a couple of years ago.

Yeah, I noticed that in the past and it struck me as misuse or at least incredibly pointless.

The Mentor is also a redirect to Mentor Archetype, so even the ones that are examples should be getting listed under that name. (At least realphabetization will be trivial )

Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.

Yeah, I don't know if any of them really count as a Mentor Archetype since the mentorship thing is a literal assigned job and all apprentices get an assigned mentor. Maybe some of the early mentors count, but as the books progress the mentors stop being presented as particularly wise and reliable — they're just normal warriors with their own flaws who often aren't even that experienced or talented.

The books have an insane amount of characters and arcs to go through though, so I think a cleanup thread for the series might be good. I'm sure there's more issues than just this.

I just discovered that Characters.The Age Of Gargoyles and Characters.The Age Of Gargoyles The Manhattan Clan both exist and, in their current form, redundant to one another, listing characters from the same fanfic.

Prompted by the Characters page spoiler discussion on another thread -

We have a number of Characters pages for shared universes and works with many instalments or sequels (e.g. for Marvel Comics) that say things like "there are unmarked spoilers on these sheets for all but the most recent comics" (or episodes/chapters/whatever)

Personally, I think that's a little too vague to be helpful, and also gives me a mild Examples Are Not Recent headache.

I'd really like to steer tropers towards using more specific cut-offs, e.g. either "everything before [date]" or "everything before [work]" is unmarked.

Before I sink too much time into this, any objections if I start some discussions to that effect on the relevant pages and cleanup threads? Is there a better alternative - or do people prefer the current version?

Would this be the place to discuss and deal with tropes that end up on a lot of character pages despite not being character tropes?

Under the Star Wars characters pages, should Grogu be moved from Star Wars – Other Force-Users and Beings to Star Wars – Mandalorians?

Characters.Midnight Sons has some intro and tropes for the team as a whole, but every single character folder is empty - no tropes, no text, no images.

Does that make it a stub and cutlist candidate?

There's a specific Character pronoun thread, but if the work used it, it shouldn't be an issue. As mentioned on that thread, where there are grey areas or contradictions, they/them is preferred anyway.

I vote to drop the page. Most of the examples, with zero and partial context examples removed, would be largely empty, or barely have enough entries to justify its existence in the first place.
