Outdated Administrivia Pages

Yeah. They get a proper discard button instead of needing to launch the page with the title "Discarded YKTTW" and watching as the website gets rid of it for them, as was the standard procedure at one time. That's what I'm saying needs to be fixed.

I don't know if "outdated" is the right term, but How to Do a Wick Check only really covers how to check for misuse and complaining, and not how to do wick checks for threads made for reasons other than misuse or complaining (such as whether a trope is a duplicate).

Though I've been wondering lately if this is the proper place to really discuss creating new Administrivia pages, I've been thinking an Administrivia on posting videos is really needed. Unfortunately I've only just started adding videos a few days ago (late to the party, heh?) so I wouldn't know where to begin.

And if this isn't the best place, should there be a separate thread for pitching/drafting new Administrivia pages?

Well, I've got a page on the TLP that works as an administrivia page, explaining the Bibble Bobble bug with crowners. However, I also want it to have a redirect in the main namespace in order to blueshift it in the error message itself so it directs more people to the problem. That's okay?

I think this thread is mostly fine as a place to propose new Administrivia/ pages, or at least uncontroversial ones like the potential page for how to add videos. I will make the draft slightly later, since I have uploaded vids in the past (mostly stopped because of losing interest and not being sure if I have the best hardware+software for it, but still).

As for Bibble Bobble, I'd say it absolutely should have a redirect in Main/ if it's in Administrivia/ to make it appear blue. It would notify more people about the info might motivate the administration to finally fix the script (emphasis on might).

The page should also talk about things like common video uploading glitches (there's a few, like the 10% one), the restrictions and what pages cannot have video examples, and more.

I thought it would have been a straight forward Uploading New Videos, but I agree those would fall under that. I'll see what I can do later.

Alright, Sandbox.Uploading New Videos is up (almost 3KB of text). I've tried to get the crucial info about the process and what you suggested.

We should add something about the Quality Control thread and how if you spot bad videos you need to request they get re-reviewed.

So I noticed that Zero-Context Example doesn't mention the practice of commenting out ZCE's or the notice you should add on top of the screen before you clean page of it's ZCE issues. Should that be on there somewhere?

Seems like Zero-Context Example might be overly long if people aren't seeing the note.

People aren't seeing the note because it's not on the page itself and it should be added. As for it being overly long, I definitely disagree as it isn't and most info is in bullet points and people should generally have a good enough attention span to read the page.

An anybody who doesn't have the patience to read a few bullet-points is the sort of person who'd get context wrong anyway and wouldn't care about what the note is or how to use it.

I think we're in agreement that the note should be added. I think it'd be put under the paragraph that says how to fix this.

Looks good, we should just also mention that variations on the tag is also accepted if it needs to be modified in some way.

When Walkthrough Mode was moved to Administrivia, the Main.Strategy Guide Mode and Main.We Are Not Game FA Qs redirects were not changed before the Main/ redirect was cut, so they ended up redirecting to a nonexistent page. I fixed that for now, but I also moved the redirects to Administrivia/ (Administrivia.Strategy Guide Mode and Administrivia.We Are Not Game FA Qs) and cutlisted the Main/ redirects (since inbounds and search results will be caught by the auto-disambig).

I just discovered Redirects Are Free and it needs an update.

I think Trope Example Laws should be moved to Just for Fun. Any other opinions?

e: New thing: What Goes Where on the Wiki doesn't seem to have anything to say on whether Flame Bait can be wicked on Just for Fun pages. It says they can't be listed as examples anywhere but Darth Wiki, but that's not the same thing...
