This is a thread for checking up on pages for works that have not been released yet, to make sure that they are not straying into rampant speculation or posting crazy behind the scenes spoilers. You can bring both individual examples or entire pages to attention here.
In extreme cases, any page can be locked, but hopefully that won't be necessary.
(As these pages often are hit with zero-context examples and shoehorning as well, all four - speculation, spoilers, ZCEs, and shoehorning may get addressed simultaneously.)
The policy governing this effort is Creating A Work Page For An Unreleased Work. Cleanup is being tracked using the Unreleased Works sandbox.
All pages for unreleased works should include a %% comment at the top of the page, confirming the policy and linking to this thread and the Administrivia page. It doesn't have to be exactly the same as the example provided here, but this provides a template to work with.
%% Speculative troping is not allowed on TV Tropes.
%%
%% We trope what DOES happen in works, not what MIGHT happen or is LIKELY to happen.
%%
%% For unreleased works where all we have to go on is advertising and other supplemental materials, we have some detailed guidelines, which can be found at Administrivia/CreatingAWorkPageForAnUnreleasedWork.
%%
%% NOTE - these rules also mean that unreleased works should only have one page image, and that image should NOT be changed again until the work is released.

Oh hey look, High Crate already cutlisted the Pokemon Character page we were talking about.
What would happen if one of those characters appeared in the anime as an Early-Bird Cameo?
Edited by PDL on Mar 1st 2019 at 1:31:35 PM
They'd be added to the anime page until their proper game appearance?
As I said on the other thread, I'm not particularly fond of the Pokemon character pages in general, so I'm not going to lose any sleep over the page being cut. But the page has been cut without any discussion, and there were a number of examples that could have been shifted back over to the main page. I can't be more specific because the page was redirected, so all I have to go on is the history, which is disjointed and hard to use to construct a page.
The cut request for Characters.Pokemon Generation VIII Families was declined, unless we are referring to something else.
No, that's what I meant. Someone had redirected it to Characters.Pokemon. It's back now, and there's nothing obvious in the history. Or maybe I was just on the wrong page? The Pokemon pages are very confusing.
Anyway, a quick look over the page does show a few tropes that are being unnecessarily speculative.
- Breaking Old Trends: Sobble is based primarily on a chameleon, and is therefore the first water starter that's not based on an aquatic animal or animal normally associated with water.
People have been arguing over what exactly Sobble is. Chameleon is my guess too, but it's still just a guess.
- Seldom-Seen Species: Grookey bears resemblance to a squirrel monkey.
Same.
- Musical Theme Naming: It's name in English and other languages have a partial basis on musical terms, such as "groove" in English and "nori (rhythm)" in Japanese, and it was shown drumming with a stick in its debut. What these associations mean is still unknown.
The fact that it's stated outright that the associations are unknown is a red flag.
Yeah, those are all questionable.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI removed those examples and pruned away some speculation (like the mythology gag regarding Sobble and Vaporeon and the Football theme regarding Scorbunny).
So here's another query.
Animal Crossing is going to have a new game that's yet to be released. However all the tropes for all the games are listed on the one page. Presumably this would mean that people will probably put tropes regarding the newest game when more information about it is revealed.
Is there anything bad on Mortal Kombat 11? I've been keeping an eye on the page since it was first made, and made sure to get rid of speculative examples whenever I saw them, but I wonder if I've missed anything.
I've been meaning to trim down this example for a while now, but I kept forgetting until now:
- Xtreme Kool Letterz: As per usual, the fight pit stage is called "Black Dragon Fight Klub" and one of the new mechanics is called the "Krushing Blow". However, currently averted with the "Special Forces Desert Command" stage. Seeing as The Kove had a similar "misspelling" in the prerelease footage of X (complete with a later apology by Ed Boon), this might be changed in the final game.
That last sentence is pure speculation, so I got rid of it. The rest looks OK.
The Memetic Mutation examples on YMMV.Pokemon Sword And Shield seem like they'll only be relevant for a week or two and then be forgotten.
Most Memetic Mutation pages are like that, honestly.
Why is there even a YMMV page for this Pokemon Game?
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessBecause someone created the page. Don't overthink it.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.Umm...Obviously? I'm asking why it hasn't been cut or locked.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI imagine it's the usual reason the wiki has for that question: nobody's gotten around to it yet.
Regarding the Gen 8 character page...Yeah, it needs work.
Here's the Punny Name entry for Sobble because I'm not sure about the Japanese name bit (Which is Messon, by the way):
- Its English name is a portmanteau of "sob" and "bubble", while its Japanese name is a portmanteau of "chameleon" and "mesomeso", the Japanese onomatopoeia for crying.
A lot of pages being discussed here and the Pre-release thread were submitted to the cut list yesterday. Even if we move forward with locking/deleting as a matter of policy, that policy has not yet been settled in this thread or via the internal mod discussion we are currently undertaking. Please do not resubmit until we have this matter concluded.
@Zuxtron: I looked over Mortal Kombat 11, and I didn't see anything obviously bad. For the Xtreme Kool Letterz example, though, you should probably remove the "currently" due to Examples Are Not Recent.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses is a fairly lengthy page for a game that isn't going to come out until July 2019. Unfortuantely I know very little about the series apart from Pop Culture Osmosis.
Breaking the Fellowship needs to go.
Zapped. Also got the second line of But Now I Must Go, which was also talking about implications and the way something "seems."
Yeah, cut that. Cut Award-Bait Song too.
Here's the trailer and Nintendo Direct segment focused on the game. Everything in those is all we know about the game at this point in time, I believe.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢Got Award-Bait Song. I thought someone else was getting it.
I think that the But Now I Must Go entry on that page is misuse since that trope's definition says that the character must leave "forever", which contradicts how the example says that Edelgard will return (there's even I Shall Return listed as a trope on the page).
