I don't really see a connection... Maybe the girl in the avatar is in the Pantheon? There's a chance of it, at least.
You're actually right on the money, depending on what you mean! He doesn't have full retrograde amnesia, but Vanguard is forgotten.
This state only lasted for a minute or so in canon, but I can't resist the idea of toying around with him being like this for longer. :P
His bond with Vanguard is gone, and he doesn't remember it. All he really seemed to remember are the name of the game, and he could apparently tell the cards he was holding were from said game.
Other than that... he knows nothing about Vanguard while like this. Every memory involving Vanguard is gone, although he still recognizes people and such.
He knows who he is... or well, mostly. Considering the fact that Vanguard was so important and integral in his life, he doesn't really have much left to him at all.
He's basically an Empty Shell with no dreams or ambitions because of the blow removing Vanguard from him does.
