- We recently discovered that a non-US IP address was hitting us with thousands of SQL injection attempts, none of which succeeded. They did, however, put additional load on the database. This wasn't intended as a DDoS attack per se but rather an attempt to take control of the site.
- The administrators activated additional security measures on our Cloudflare firewall that have had the unintended side-effect of causing frequent ReCAPTCHA prompts for users. We are aware of this problem and working on a resolution.
- Improvements to new user registrations and the user experience when suspended or banned. See this post for details.
Mar 21th:
- The adblocker bug (popup message) will now appear for logged-in users after a certain threshold of page views has occurred while blocking ads.
- You may snooze the bug for up to 7 days at a time if you have contributed to the wiki (by editing articles) recently.
- There is now a subscription option to use TV Tropes ad-free for certain periods (monthly, yearly).
- You can use this link to access the subscription system.
- Subscriptions use a third-party payment facilitator called Stripe. TV Tropes does not collect or store any of your payment information. You will be rebilled at the indicated interval unless you cancel.
- Subscriptions are linked to your account. If you change accounts, or are banned, you will lose your subscription.
- Additional subscription options are being considered or are in development.
- The badge advertised as a reward for subscribing appears not to be working currently.

- Forum crowner styles and layouts should be back to normal, mostly.

That function's also been back for some time. It seems like largely a cosmetic change.

That was requested to make it easier to track TLP abuses, so the admins prioritized it. I think there were some comments recently to the effect that it was hard to search/report editors without already knowing what threads they caused trouble in. This is part of reaching that objective.

Today I learned that the TLP history allows you to send notifiers like the normal history does, unfortunately because of the TLP coding, the link it comes with is just a string of nonsense. I used it today to notify someone who edited my draft without telling me, and had to send another just to explain why the message title was so bizarre.

Lost in Space
Several previously unpaginated lists have now gained pagination. These include:
- The forum new posts list
- The forum post list by user
- The wiki edit list by user
- The discussion post list by user
These are primarily optimizations for Google, but we can now finally go all the way back in any user's history! Well, back as far as the last purge, anyway, which happened September 15, 2011. I figured this out because one of my first posts after the purge was in the thread where people discussed it.
But yeah. Enjoy a nostalgic trip back to your past... and the ability to check problematic tropers' history far more efficiently.

Found a glitch on the pagination. I had twelve pages of unread posts on "Latest Posts in Media," and I cleared out the last couple pages (mostly to see what would happen). The pages are still there, but they're empty. It's hardly a huge problem, but I have a feeling it might be a symptom of more backend problems.

I just tried the edit list, and apparently the history of some pages don't go back that far. According to the list, I had an edit of The Password Is Always "Swordfish" in 2011, but the page's edit history only goes back to 2013.
The universe is under no obligation to make sense to us.

Incidentally, note that the forum post & edit histories linked here are not stored in the same database as the page histories and threads. In particular, the forum post & edit histories go back only to September 2011 while forum posts can go back farther and page histories sometimes cut off in 2013. This is all because of database purges.
