I thought I had a chance to be the hero.

Maybe I still do. After all, everything I've done up to this point...I know everyone I helped appreciated what I did for them. Yet, even though I gave them hope, it seems I may have none myself. What I thought was a chance to do great things turned out to be the chance to just be some cosmic plaything. If everything I do is just going to be reset...then what's the point in trying? Maybe I should just be the villain instead of the hero. After all, my actions no longer have consequences.

...No. Standing here and moping is not going to help me with anything. I know I still have a chance, even if it's a slim one. If I keep pushing myself, I'll be able to break free of this cycle and free everyone in it. If somehow I can't? Then doing what I always do will keep me from sliding over the edge.

I may be trapped...but I will not be defeated.


Welcome to Hope, Determination, and Friendship!

Or rather, the second attempt at Hope, Determination, and Friendship. My first attempt ended unceremoniously when my motivation took a hit. For those of you who were part of the first attempt, I apologize for ending it so abruptly. That being said, I promised I wouldn't abandon it, and as it turns out I'm still able and this time a little more determined to make good on that promise.

I also apologize to anyone who read the title and expected an Undertale RP, but that's besides the point.

For those of you who don't know what this is, here's the blurb from the original iteration:

This is a Magical Girl RP, based around the concept of the player characters being trapped in an endless loop of time. However, it's not just living the same period of time over and over again without any changes. When the loop restarts, the world around them changes. Some things remain fairly consistent, but other things are wildly different. In particular, they'll have new enemies that threaten the world, and it may not be worth ignoring them even if everything's going to reset itself eventually.

Will the girls triumph over these constant challenges and escape from the recursion of time? Or will they sink into despair and give up trying, staying trapped in the loop forevermore? Or will something else entirely happen?

As you might guess from the premise, this is going to be on the darker end of magical girl stories. However, that isn't to say it's completely hopeless ("Hope" is in the title of the RP, after all). Some loops may not end the best, and some challenges will seem impossible at first, but ultimately there will always be a happy ending available. You'll just have to work for it.

I'm planning to have this RP be a good mix of action and character interaction, though one or the other might take prominence depending on the theme of the loop and/or my writing ability.

While I'm changing around some plot details from the first attempt, the base concept remains the same. This new signup thread (and corresponding RP thread) is mostly to keep the first and second attempts separate.


Basic Setting Details

For the purposes of making your character. For more details, see the Discussion thread.

  • The base setting is Earth, Like Reality, Unless Noted. To be more specific, the general area is somewhere in the American Northeast. Naturally, just how "realistic" it all is depends on the nature of the loop.
  • The central hub of the RP is Newbury, a mid-sized city with a population of about half million. The characters will always start in this city at the beginning of a loop, and are living there at the start of the RP (although whether or not they're native to it is up to the individual player). It can be assumed to have a fair number of residential districts, school districts, and so on, though more specific locations will be crafted as needed as the RP goes on.
  • Speaking of school: The story starts at the beginning of summer, so school can be assumed to be out and thus a non-issue. The characters are generally around middle/high school in terms of age.
  • For the first loop, the world is reasonably mundane beyond the player characters' powers and the enemies they're up against.


     Rules and Guidelines 
  • This should go without saying, but only join the RP if you are actually interested in what the RP has to offer. If you're not, then why sign up?
  • All general forum rules and general roleplaying rules apply. This should also go without saying.
  • The definition of "Magical Girl" I'm using is simply "girl with magical powers."
    • All the character's powers are granted by the same source, which will happen at the start of the RP (or whenever your character joins if you're reading this after the start date). Beyond that, how your character's powers manifest is up to you. If you want a transforming heroine typical of most Magical Girl Warrior series, that's fine. If you'd rather have a Cute Witch, that's fine too. Or you could come up with something completely different. There's no unified "theme" here.
    • I do expect everyone to be on the same general level of power, however. Anything over Super Weight 3 is a complete no-go, as is anything that would give your character an unfair advantage (unavoidable attacks, invincibility, etc.). Having your character's powers develop and become stronger over the course of the RP is fine, so long as it's not forced just for the sake of making your character stronger.
    • Also, I expect your characters to be Magical Girls. As in, "young female." The general age range as far as this RP is concerned is middle/high school age (that is, anywhere from 12 to 17), though I'm willing to accept characters slightly older or younger than this. "Female" is defined as "character identifies as female."
    • All characters are human; this isn't a Fantasy Kitchen Sink (or at least, won't be for most loops).
    • This is NOT a crossover. Or at least, not a straight crossover. You're welcome to base your character on a previously existing one, but their details will have to be altered to fit the setting (e.g. an alternate version of a Pretty Cure probably won't call herself "Cure Whatever").
  • The character limit is one character per player, with two exceptions.
    • The first exception I'm allowing is if you'd rather write an inseparable duo of characters (e.g. a pair of twin sisters). However, I do expect you to write your characters as inseparable, not as a loophole to get around the character limit. This doesn't mean that they can't split up, but that they shouldn't whenever possible. Trios and higher are out of the question completely.
    • The second exception is familiars, if you want to have your character gain one as part of her powers. However, these characters are not allowed to know anything your character doesn't (except how to use their abilities), and should be limited in how far they can stray from their master without needing to be re-summoned.
    • If you get tired of your current character for whatever reason, you're welcome to make a new one. However, you can only change once per loop.
  • If your character's currently involved in a conversation or some other form of interaction with other characters, please give the other players involved some time before posting. No one wants to get left behind because two particularly active players kept posting rapid-fire.
    • If your character's involved in combat, you MUST wait for everyone else involved to post before posting again. If a player drops out while their character's involved in a fight or otherwise particularly involved, a Hand Wave will be devised that may or may not involve the GM taking control of the character in question.
  • Please use location headers in your posts. This will make it easier to tell where everyone is at any given time, as well as making reading the RP in hindsight a little easier to understand (good for anyone who wants to join after the start date).
  • Regarding NPCs: Creating major NPCs is the GM's domain alone, and unless otherwise stated controlling, autohitting, etc. them is not allowed. However, creating minor NPCs for quick story purposes (e.g. a random passerby for your character to ask a question to) is okay within reason.
    • You are allowed to define your PCs' parents and other relatives, but they aren't to be used as a way to play as other characters apart from your main character. If your PC isn't currently interacting with them, don't try to write for them.


Sign-Up Sheet

If you have a character from the first attempt, you're welcome to re-use her if you wish. If you'd rather make a new character for the second attempt, then that's fine as well. Do note that the first attempt is not canon to this one; your character shouldn't remember anything that happened back then (not that much happened).

  • Name: What does your character call herself?
  • Age: How old is she?
  • Appearance: What does your character look like? Pictures are allowed, provided you can find a suitable one.
  • Personality: How can your character be expected to behave?
  • Powers: What can your character do?
  • Backstory: What was your character's life like up until this point?
    • This should NOT include your character gaining their powers. As mentioned under the rules, all the characters' powers come from one source, and that one source will grant your character her powers once she's part of the RP.
  • Other: Anything else the GM should know?

I will assume you've dropped out if you do not post for roughly two weeks or so without an explanation. This does not mean you've been kicked out of the RP; you're welcome to return with either your original character or a new one. However, if you keep dropping out and wanting to return repeatedly, I'll consider your activity too inconsistent and actually kick you out.

I'm going to drop this here and edit it a bit later. Just as a baseline~

  • Name: Caitlyn Suzuki
  • Age: 15
  • Appearance: heyo
  • Personality: Seems pretty laid back when you first meet her. While she is still laid back when you get to know her better, it becomes clear that she forms deep attachments to those she considers friends. She's not very good at getting sleep. Even despite this, she makes an effort to be nice to those she meets. It's very hard to get on her bad side, and even when you do it'll seem more like she's disappointed with you.. Tends to worry about other people more than herself. Is the mom friend. When she's transformed she becomes much more awake and alert, but also more easily distracted.
  • Powers:
    • Beckon: She can draw the attention of anyone within 5 yards (about 4.5 meters). It's not infallible though, and doesn't work well on those actively trying to avoid her gaze or those with poor eyesight.
    • Physical Boost: She's overall stronger and faster when transformed. She also has better senses of smell, hearing, and better night vision. (Max lifting weight is approx. 300 lbs., max speed is about 30 m/h.) She also gains cat-like claws, which are her main weapon.
    • Koban Summon: Can summon a giant koban for use as a shield, somewhat ineffective thrown object, or general heavy thing. (It's about 4 1/2 feet tall and three inches thick.) Considering Caitlyn has trouble lifting it, even when transformed, it must be pretty heavy. Despite appearing to be made of gold, it's not. It's very durable and can withstand many types of physical and magical attacks, but still conducts heat and electricity like most metals. It seems to automatically repair itself when de-summoned. If it's broken it'll automatically disappear to whatever realm Caitlyn summoned it from.
    • Regeneration: She can heal faster than the average human, though it's not instant. Most wounds will heal within a few days, though larger wounds like broken bones take up to a week or longer. (Also, in the case of a broken bone she still needs to wear a cast to make sure the bone heals properly, lest she need to rebreak the bone and have it heal again the right way.)
    • Tail: Caitlyn can transform her tail into a nodachi almost as long as she is tall. Unfortunately though, at the beginning of the rp she would have no idea she can do this, nor would she have the skill to use it properly. The blade won't chip like a normal one would, though it can be broken with sufficient force. Like with the coin, it'll repair itself when desummoned.
  • Backstory:
    • Born to Ken and Jennifer Suzuki, Caitlyn lived a pretty average life. She went to school, got average grades. She got picked on a little for falling asleep in class, but that's probably the most of it. When she was ten, her parents divorced. Despite it being amicable, Caitlyn still feels guilty about her parents' split. She currently lives with her father, and spends weekends with her mother.
  • Other: Even before getting powers, she was good with cats. Stray cats tended to flock to her house.

  • Name: Maike von Steiner (or Aurora)
  • Age: 12
  • Appearance:
    • Normally: Like that
    • Transformed: She wears a cape covering her back and the right part of her front along with her arm, underneath there she wears a bandeau, also she wears a skirt (along with Modesty Shorts) and tighhighs.
  • Personality: Generally calm and collected... a bit shy, though loyal to those she deems friends.
  • Powers:
    • Plant command: She can create thorny plants and use them as a whip. She can also bind enemies in them (although for their sake those are mostly non-thorned... mostly). Additionally she can bring withered plants to grow again or cut plants (for example from a bouquet to take roots again. And generally can make flowers and such bloom.
  • Backstory: Maike lived the normal life you would expect. Her family was once from the nobility (hence the 'von') though that is long since gone and apart from the name nothing of that is left. She now lives with her parents and a pet Fennec (named Erwin) in a small house in the outskirts of Cologne. Her father is a programmer in a Game-Company and her mother owns a small corner store. The most notable thing in her life up until now was being ranked 3rd in a Jugend Forscht competition. Currently she is in America because her parents promised her to go on vacation there some day (mostly to see things like the Space Center and stuff).
  • Other:
    • Familiar: Erwin was in the vicinity as Maike got her powers and thus also was affected, in his case he gained the ability to speak when in the near vicinity of Maike, other than that he still is a normal Fennec.

  • Name: Adrianna Meyer
  • Age: 14
  • Appearance:
    • Normal: Adrianna has slightly tanned skin, ebony colored hair tied in a ponytail and her eyes are of a light hazel coloration. She's usually wearing a white polo neck and a black skirt with white frills and is typically wearing a pair of brown boots. She has a pair of star earrings hanging from her ears that she likes to fiddle with from time to time, as well a golden star shaped brooch on her chest and is usually carrying a pocket mirror with her.
    • Transformed: Adrianna lets her hair loose and gains a black top hat with a white strip at the bottom. She gets a flowing black cape with a white interior, long white gloves, black stockings that reach up to the knee and her boots become black and heeled. Her shirt changes to a black t-shirt. She also gets a black cane with a white top
  • Personality: Normally, Adri is gentle, somewhat soft-spoken and a bit of an airhead, being slow to catch on to things and just generally being easily distracted. She is very understanding of people and is not one to give up easily, always finding a reason to keep going no matter what happens and trying to motivate people to do the same. Once things start going wrong, even though she seems fine in the outside, in the inside she very quickly starts to start doubting herself and starts getting nervous. However, once she starts fighting or performing, her personality changes a lot, she becomes boisterous, confident, focused and generally very flashy, often not looking like she's taking the situation very seriously even though she is in fact very serious while doing her act.
  • Powers:
    • Floating: She's capable of floating while transformed
    • Increased physical abilities: While she's transformed she gets a boost to her strength and agility, though not enough of a boost to let her do things like pick up a car by herself and not too much of a speed boost to the point of super speed, as it's more like enhanced reflexes.
    • Mirror Self: Adrianna's pocket mirror changes form and becomes a copy of herself, however her transformed outfit has reversed colors and her hair is white. The pocket mirror itself also becomes some sort of small brooch on her chest. The copy is frail and can be shattered in a single hit, at which point it reverses back into a pocket mirror and teleports back to Adrianna's hand. The glass will be cracked and Adri won't be able to form another copy until it fixes itself, how long it takes depending on how strong the blow that destroyed the copy was.
    • Yin-Yang Magic: Adri can use dark magic, while her mirror self uses light magic. These manifest as energy balls, small barriers they can make by spinning their canes and energy beams of their respective element. They can also either darken or lighten up their surroundings by channeling their element on their canes.
    • Trick Escape: Exclusive to Adri, she can envelop herself in her cape just before being struck by an attack. Once the attack impacts the cape, a puff of smoke goes out and Adri vanishes, reappearing somewhere nearby and where her body once was comes out a flurry of razor sharp playing cards that rush at her attacker. The cape, however gets lost in he process and only returns the next time she transforms.
    • Mirror Swap: Adri and her copy swap their unique attributes with each other switching up their appearances and type of magic used. However Trick Escape is still only usable by Adrianna and the copy keeps her mirror brooch on her chest, however he glass change colors to look more like Adri's normal brooch.
    • Mirror Illusion: Adri and her copy group and create a puff of smoke than once it clears up reveals two more Adriannas, one mimicking her appearance while the other mimicking the copy. The extra ones are illusions that are harmless by themselves and their attacks can't hurt anyone. Mirror Swap can be used with this to further confuse the opponent.
    • Hat of Holding: Adrianna can store objects in her hat, even things that wouldn't logically fit inside it. If there are things still in her hat when she transforms back they will show up where the hat last was, likely her head
    • Perspective Change: Adrianna can transfer her consciousness to her copy for a period of time, allowing her to control it from afar while still being able to see what's happening. Her body, meanwhile becomes inactive and vulnerable. If the copy gets destroyed while Adri is in full control of it, she'll snap back to her body and gets a nasty headache for a while.
    • Complete Being: Adrianna and her copy merge into one, forming a being whose color pattern is a mix of the two and Adrianna's skin gets a more glassy look to it, she also gets two canes. In this form Adrianna can use both types of magic at the same time and they're also stronger to boot. However, the mirror brooch becomes a weak point that will instantly cancel the fusion if struck. This forms also strains her body, leaving her very tired once she returns to normal after prolonged use of it. There's also a risk of her losing control and becoming stuck in this form.
  • Backstory: Adrianna is a simple student who has a passion for theatre and magic, however that didn't give her much support from her parents who would rather have her pick a more "stable" career like her sibling. This caused her a lot of grief, but she kept following her dreams and practiced her acting and magic tricks as much as she could, even starting making little shows of her own and becoming somewhat well known in her school as a magician. Even still, her small success still didn't change her parents' opinion and so she still struggles to make them see that the path she chose is going to be a succesful one.
  • Other: Thanks to her career choice, Adrianna is a pretty good actor and she knows a good variety of magic tricks that she can pull off fairly easily provided she's given the necessary equipment for them.

  • Name: Heather Summers
  • Age: 15
  • Appearance: Not terribly gothic or anything.
  • Personality: Heather is cheerful, the kind of person who probably has a motivational catch phrase like "Never give up, 'cause there's always tomorrow" or something along those lines. Even if her life hasn't exactly been hard or particularly melancholic, she manages to keep her chin up through the worst of it. Though she's got a pleasant personality, she acts odd sometimes and has some odd interests, which keep her out of the top of the social strata. Also, she's afraid of the dark.
  • Powerz:
    • Completely Normal Girl: Heather herself is very close to normal. The only power she has is that she's intrinsically linked to an entity that refers to itself as...
    •    THE DARKMASTER   :    THE DARKMASTER    is some kind of entity spawned from the inkiest blackness of the gaps between realms, and so on, and so forth. It is her familiar that she can call and dismiss at any time, though    THE DARKMASTER    has the ability to appear and leave on its own will. It takes the form of a tall thing clad in black robes and wearing a thick set of odd armor and in general looking relatively threatening. It's the backbone of her abilities because it has its own set of skills!
      • Shado Powah: This thing is very strong, and very tough to boot. Able to punch concrete so hard it cracks, along with essentially being an animate suit of armor filled with nothing meaning it doesn't rely much on a corporeal form, it's staggeringly powerful.
      • Shadow Manipulation:    THE DARKMASTER   , or as Heather has taken to calling it "Mister", can change the shape and number of its own shadows and act out his will through them. They act as extendable arms, meaning it generally can pick up stuff at range and punch more than twice. Mister can also hide inside of Heather's own shadow for incognito action, though since it changes the shape into that of a close to seven foot tall nega-being it often isn't the stealthiest.
      • Shadow Shouting: Making it even less stealthy, Mister is physically incapable of speaking in anything than a dark tone of voice that sounds very fitting when things like    FOOLISH MORTAL    are said, so don't count on any quiet pep talks.
      • Shadow Weaknesses: In the off chance that there's lighting that makes it so Heather doesn't have a shadow, she can't call it out, and it's severely weakened if it is already out. Mister can only go about 20 feet away from Heather at most, and it requires some kind of darkness in between itself and Heather in order to stay in this world. If Mister completely extinguished somehow, which with enough firepower or proper magic is possible (and considerably easier if it's brighter), it will simply not return for another 24 hours or the next loop, whichever comes first.
  • Backstory: Heather has the usual story of managing to have a normal life, doing well in school and having a tight-knit circle of friends...in CANADA! While she has a bountiful wealth of history, absolutely none of that matters in Newbury because she moved here a whole week and a half ago. Now in a strange new country completely unlike the frozen wastes of the north (or, more accurately, Victoria), she has to find some kind of way to belong over the summer because absolutely nobody knows she exists, let alone cares about her.

As returning characters from the first attempt, Maike and Caitlyn are both accepted barring any major changes to their sheet (in which case I'll have to take a second look).

@Adriannna: I know you're still debating changes, but as she is now I'm not seeing anything objectionable in her sheet. Barring any major future changes, she's accepted.

@Heather: I'm a little iffy on Heather having a Familiar that's basically a mini-Eldritch Abomination. As stated the characters' powers all come from the same source, and for the most part said source would probably just create Familiars out of whole cloth rather than draw in beings from across time and space.

She's pretty acceptable otherwise. RIP Exploding Hellsheep; you will be missed.

Basically, I had thought of that hurdle, which is pretty easily explained: it's not actually any kind of evil monster dude, THE DARKLORD (all caps required) is just very convinced that it is some kind of ghastly darklord.

It doesn't actually have a past history, it just comes up with stories on the fly...because, for being the all-powerful being that it is, being created just to serve some little girl is embarrassing, isn't it? Therefore, it must have some kind of cool past, even if it can't remember it.

Anyway, I'm gonna doublepost while I consider whether to play Sanford and Son or Carol The Sheepmage.

  • Name: Carol Lambert
  • Age: 15
  • Appearance: As seen wearing the traditional garb of the Herder, which is whatever she could find at a thrift store. Yes, even the gauntlets. It's very eclectic thrift store. When not decked to the nines in protective sheep herding clothing, she tends to wear subdued colors and warm clothing, especially her collection of not-terribly-fashionable-but-comfortable-nonetheless hoodies. Her face is very obviously the one of someone who doesn't get enough sleep.
  • Personality: Very weary, both in a physical and worldly sense. She is a textbook sufferer of insomnia, and has had trouble going to sleep for as long as she can remember. Since she ends up staying awake all night, she's often both exhausted and irritated and has a tendency to lash out at people that try to disturb her sleep. Not helping this is that she's a caffeine addict, which while it does keep her up when she needs to stay awake, it doesn't help when she actually needs to go to sleep. Her anti-social tendencies, both due to being grouchy from lack of sleep and just in general not wanting to hang out, has led to her falling to the wayside of the social strata of the school, not being particularly involved with any group of friends. In a good mood she isn't outright hostile towards anyone, she just doesn't feel the need to get out and talk to others.
  • Powerz:
    • The Sheep Stick: If it has a more dignified name, she doesn't know it. For anything within the subfamily Caprinae (markhors, ibexes, muskoxen, assorted other species, but most importantly goats and sheep), no matter living or dead, are irresistibly compelled to follow the directions that the holder tells them to follow. Commands can be as simple as "go here" or as complex as "every ten steps make a 133 degree rotation, travel exactly 200 feet ahead and try to pull off a backflip", but most of the time it's "ram that guy". It's also eternally on fire. Has a tendency to show up near her without explanation if Carol doesn't touch every once in a while.
    • Sheep of The Netherworld: All sheep go to heaven, it turns out, and heaven in this instance is wherever Carol happens to be at this time. The majority eventually pass on into nothingness after a few weeks, but that still means that in her hometown there are millions of sheep spirits mucking around in their own odd demiplane of the afterlife, grazing on air and not being a bother to anyone except Carol herself. They manifest as ghostly balls of wool-shaped hellfire, and aside from being dead and passing through walls are the exact same as they were in real life. If she isn't near a flock there's usually at least two or so within reach at all times, and Carol can make them visible to others temporarily and physical for an even shorter period, only up to 5 seconds at a time. While technically all species within Caprinae pass through her flock, the vast majority of them are sheep and goats. Though, the rare instances when she does have a ghostly muskox pass through are usually quite memorable.
    • Exploding Sheep of The Netherworld: She can will sheep to explode in a burst of hellfire, which is like fire but blue. It is extinguishable like normal fire is, but it certainly looks spookier. The souls of the incendiary sheep disperse and eventually return in one piece, but it's a pain in the ass to deal with because they often end up separated from the rest of the flock.
  • Baaaaa-ckstory: Born to Sophia and Walter Lambert, a nurse and a garbage truck driver, respectively. Dad smells better than you'd think he would. She's lived a generally normal life so far, one of being awake for most nights. Her family has lived in this town since the 17th century, and they've got a number of relations that live within 30 miles of their house. She herself isn't keen on spending time with the many family get-togethers she attends, but it's free food, at least. Her school life has been badly impacted by her insomnia; her teachers are lenient, because even with medication she suffers, but her GPA hasn't ever done much more than count as barely passing. She's worried as school gets harder that she may slip and not graduate on time, or that even further in the future she won't be able to function in a normal job. It's been smooth enough sailing so far, but she's convinced it won't be easy going ahead.

Changed a few things here and there.

  • Name: Allison "Al" Fletcher
  • Age: 15
  • Appearance: She's a 1.70 m / 5'7'' lanky girl with auburn hair. She usually wears normal street clothes, caring more about function over form. She stands at 2 m / 6'7'' with her bark armor on (Think this but with this helmet and made of reddish armor).
  • Personality: Al is a very excitable kid that can't seem to focus on one thing at a time. She's a pretty sociable person and still keeps in touch with the many friends she has made during her life despite constantly moving. An idealist at heart, she always likes to help the people she cares about or at least try to cheer them up. Al doesn't care much about school but she manages to not have bad grades by paying enough attention to barely pass her tests. She also loves old sci-fi movies; for her the cheesier, the better.
  • Powers:
    • Plant Affinity: Al has an acute sixth sense that lets her know what the plants on her vicinity are feeling and it physically affects her (e.i. She would feel full of energy in Spring, and sick in Autumn). Unfortunately, she can't turn it off so she constantly receives useless information about every single vegetable near her.
    • Walking Garden: Al can grow plants all over her body, ranging from leaves and small flowers to things like vines and branches. This plants are part of her body and will die if taken off of her.
    • Bark Armor: An extension of her powers, Al can grow an armor made of unnaturally tough (some would even say magical) reddish wood, that protects her from most physical attacks. The armor itself can regenerate but it takes a while for it to repair anything over a superficial cut. It also makes her strong enough to rip apart a car's door and jump several meters in the air.
    • Wooden Bolts: She can summon a crossbow-like construct on her right hand that's made of the same wood as her armor. Although her ability to create bolts depends on her emotional and physical state, for all intents and purposes, Al can infinitely refill her crossbow. Mind you, she is not a great shooter.
  • Backstory: Al's parents had to move several times due to her dad's job so she grew up all over the country, and she has picked up the accent from everywhere she lived but it mostly sounds like a southern accent since she lived in Dallas the longest (Staying six years in one city is her personal record!). Newbury is the last city her family has moved to and it will hopefully be the last. Apart from that, Allison has lived what could be considered a pretty average life.
  • Other: She is a bit of a potty mouth.

  • Name: Leah Drake / Masked Galangelo
  • Age: 15
  • Appearance: Really intense-looking. Leah comes in at 5 foot nothing and dresses in a lot of extremely light layered clothes, always putting a lot of effort into her appearance. As Masked Galangelo, Leah is covered in a dark red bodysuit with a chestpiece, gauntlets, shoulder pads, and boots of chiseled white marble. A pair of oversized chisels, each about a meter long, protrude out of her shoulders with the heads sunken into the stone. She wears a helmet over the top half of her face, also of marble, with eyes carved into the facade but with her mouth left exposed.
  • Personality: Leah really likes to talk things out. If not to anyone around her, then to herself. She says she's got a head made of brick, and that there's no room in there for any thoughts. Which is also reflective of a knack for metaphor and aphorism and an inability to be particularly clear on anything without a comparison like that. She's really, really into transparency at all times and wants everyone to always have their facts straight. Conversely, liars, cheats, and tricksters are actual garbage; at least a bully or a ruffian will have the decency to be upfront about their evil.
  • Powers:
    • Leah can transform into MASKED GALANGELO by combining her two-part transformation artifact together—a shoulder sash with what appears to be a small cube of marble on it and a chisel with a white handle and black blade. Her armor makes her weigh about 300 pounds but enhances her strength along with it, allowing her to leap about ten feet in the air, run just as fast as she normally could, and flip cars with one hand.
    • CHI-CHI-CHI-CHISEL! Leah can take the chisels off her shoulders and wield them as bladed weapons. If she strikes dirt or stone with the heads, she can magically grasp and shape it.
    • CARVING DRIVER! Leah can conjure a bicycle out of thin air to ride. It is black, with very chunky, flat surfaces.
  • Backstory: Leah's parents are both architects, and she's pretty well-off for it. She learned all about function and form from them, how sometimes form has a function. They supported her own personal sense of design while still pushing her to make things even better, to get the stuff in her head out there into the world. She was never very good, but instead she just decided to do things her own way, with really really heavy questioning and conversation. When she went into school she developed a solid aptitude for the language arts; her parents are still sorta trying to pivot from their own expertise at architecture to try to help her out.

Here we go.

  • Name: Charlotte "The Beast" Rain
  • Age: 16
  • Appearance:
    • Normal: With her 5'8" frame, chest-length blonde hair, piercing jade eyes, and ripped build, Charlotte cuts an imposing figure in any room, and she knows it. Her clothing as of the start of the game consists of a leather Carolina Panthers jacket over a white T-shirt, exposing her stomach, tight black jeans with holes at the knees, and white hi-top Chuck Taylors. Upon gaining her powers, a panther tattoo appears on her mid-back.
    • Transformed: Charlotte's entire body from the neck down is protected with a medieval suit of knight's armor made of steel and black ice. Instead of a helmet, Charlotte wears a black mask with silver jewels and light blue scratch marks, akin to that of a panther's, on the left side. Her eyes turn an icy shade of blue (think Cloud from Final Fantasy VII).
  • Personality: Charlotte isn't a millionaire athlete, but from the way she carries herself, you'd think she was. She's brash and confident, if not outright cocky, and she lives for the thrill of competition, whether she's fighting someone hand-to-hand or playing as Superman in Injustice. Though she might seem intimidating at first, those who get to know her find a loyal friend who doesn't let anyone push around the people she cares about.
  • Powers:
    • Combat Prowess: Even without the aid of her magical girl form, Charlotte is skilled in the arts of swordplay, taekwondo, and judo.
    • Iced Up Mode: By shouting the words "Ice up!", Charlotte transforms into her empowered state. In this form, Charlotte has access to the following:
      • Ice Armor: Charlotte's mask and suit of armor elevate her toughness to the point where she can take hits that would break most people's bones or give them a concussion and be fine. However, she's by no means invincible, and a strong enough hit (such as a bullet) will send chunks of armor flying in every direction. Once damaged, the armor can't be repaired unless Charlotte de-powers and waits five minutes.
      • Apex Predator: A massive broadsword with a black blade that serves as Charlotte's primary weapon, named for the words etched in light blue into its blade. The Apex Predator is capable of cutting through steel and is backed by ice magic, making it an effective counter to reptilian and fire-using foes. Wielded with two hands, leaving Charlotte without a shield. Should someone else attempt to wield it against her, the sword melts and will only come back together under the same conditions that allow Charlotte to repair her armor.
      • Enhanced Strength: Charlotte's strength levels are boosted in this form, more as a necessity of her heavy armor and weapon than anything else. Should she lose everything else, this strength gives her one last edge, giving her the ability to punch people across the room, run as fast as a cheetah, and jump up to five stories high.
  • Backstory: Charlotte Rain comes from a family of combat athletes, and she's been more than happy to follow in their footsteps. She's trained in mutliple forms of martial arts, both armed and unarmed, since age 6, and by the start of sophomore year, she was the most dominant force on her school's fencing team—hence her nickname, "The Beast." Originally from Asheville, North Carolina, she came to Newbury to take part in an amateur judo competition and—thanks to that beat-up '95 Camaro she just bought—live it up a little without any adult supervision. Little does she know she's in for something a little more intense...

I think it's been long enough, and so the Roleplay thread is now up. Signups are still open, though, and they'll remain open until the end of the first loop. The plan is, like the first attempt, to close signups after the end of the first loop but have the occasional loop that's almost the same as the first to allow newcomers into the RP.

Also like last time, I have a character of my own. I've made a few changes to her since then, but for the most part she's also a returning character.

  • Name: Rosalie Chevalier
  • Age: 13
  • Appearance:
    • Civilian: Rosalie is a little short, but otherwise of average height and build of someone her age. She mostly appears to be of French descent. She has brown eyes and straight, auburn hair that's usually tied into twin ponytails. She's usually wearing some combination of t-shirts, jeans, and tennis shoes, and usually at least some of her clothing will be pink. She also wears a pair of black-rimmed glasses.
    • Transformed: Rosalie's eyes and hair both turn bright pink. She loses her glasses and becomes clothed in a pink-and-white short dress highly reminiscent of a princess's, as well as white long gloves, white thigh-high stockings, and pink, high-heeled sandals. She also gains a white tiara, as well as pink ribbons tied into bows around her waist and ankles.
  • Personality: Rosalie is a rather shy girl. Around people she doesn't know well, she doesn't tend to talk much, and when she does she's soft-spoken and tends to trail off a lot. While it's not for lack of trying, she has difficulty actually initiating conversation. She's also rather afraid of fully opening up to other people.
    Once she's out of her shell, however, she's actually quite the tomboy. While not quite as rough-and-tumble as some and possessing some normally feminine interests (which she'll get defensive about if questioned), she's certainly not afraid to get herself dirty. She's fiercely loyal towards whatever friends she happens to make and will never abandon them unless they abandon her first.
    Generally speaking, she's mostly agreeable and won't charge into things blindly unless someone she cares about is in danger. However, there is one way to get on her bad side extremely quickly: imply that she is or outright call her a "little girl," and/or treat her like one.
  • Powers:
    • Rosalie needs to say a special incantation in order to transform voluntarily, although she'll automatically transform should she be in immediate danger. Changing back and forth takes a couple seconds and covers her in bright pink light that can blind the unprepared.
    • She's somewhat tougher and stronger than normal, although not abnormally so.
    • Psychic Powers: Rosalie possesses a number of psychic abilities, which manifests as pink, sparkly energy when used. If she puts too much effort into any of these, she'll wear herself out really quickly.
      • Telekinesis: Rosalie can use a limited form of telekinesis. She's capable of dragging people closer to her, pushing them away, or simply holding them in place. She can also grab items from across the room with it.
      • Psychic Weaponry: Rosalie can also use psychic energy to extend the reach of her attacks. This can manifest in a number of ways, from simply enhancing her punches and kicks to long psychic blades.
      • Psychic Shielding: Rosalie can raise a psychic shield to block incoming attacks, either to herself or to anyone with her.
  • Backstory: Rosalie was the second child of Hector and Augustine Chevalier, preceded by her sister Jeanne. Jeanne was the closest thing she had to a best friend for most of her life, to the point where the two never were very far from each other's side. Her father was generally very supportive of his daughters' respective interests, but her mother was very strict and controlling. She saw Jeanne as a "failure," and intended to shape Rosalie into a child actress. It got to the point where Rosalie was the recipient of emotional abuse. Thankfully, her father caught onto this before too long, and he divorced their mother and took his daughters with them.
    They traveled around a lot as their father hopped from job to job, so neither of them really got the chance to make friends outside their family. As such, it hit Rosalie particularly hard when one day, Jeanne left home and never returned. Despite their best efforts, they couldn't find her, or even any trace of her.
    While her life since then has been relatively pleasant given the circumstances, losing her main form of emotional support has taken a bit of a toll on her. She's yet to really make anything of herself. She's only recently moved to Newbury, and has yet to really get to know anyone there.

... Proooooobably gonna regret stretching my schedule as tightly enough as it is, but will give this a twirl and see if I last. Hope you don't mind >_<

Right, then! Time to RP as someone outside of my comfort zone.


Name: Nur Aakiyah ibnt Mahmud (or Aakiyah or Aki or Kiyah or anything, for short. She isn't really picky with what people call her)

Age: 13

Appearance: She stands at around 143 cm(4'8") in height, with tanned skin and average build adorning her frame. She has short, messy black hair, all because she can't be bothered to take the time to fix it despite her outgoing nature, and black eyes. As for her clothing, she is usually sporting an open black hoodie that she favors, with a white shirt underneath it, a pair of shorts and sneakers. From time to time however, she also wears and prefers the more modest clothing from her former home, complete with headscarves and hand socks. (like the clothing of the girl in the middle of this picture here, only with a more brown-ish color scheme)

Will probably try to draw a picture of her, if I can and when I have time. Maybe. Probably. Eh, don't count on it.

Personality: Generally cheerful, a bit of an airhead and extremely friendly to the point of naivety, she's the sort that one could call a hyperactive bundle of energy given a girl form, never content at standing in one place for too long, running around to god knows where doing whatever she wants and getting to know people left and right, trying to make friends with anyone as she goes along her merry way. As the saying goes, 'Strangers are just friends that you haven't met yet,' she's taken this lesson to heart just a bit too much.

She happens to be an utter optimist too, believing that there's good in everyone and that there's no such thing as someone being inherently evil. Not to say that she believes all is rainbow and sunshine everywhere, but that every single bad things happening must have a reason and maybe, just maybe, all the 'bad people' need is someone to talk to and a helping hand to help them up.

She's also a bit of a country girl, often still distracted and overwhelmed by all the new interests her current life offered (despite having lived there herself for quite some time). Of particular note is that she is furiously into anime, having watched an episode of a magical girl show once to see what all the fuss that her classmates were making about it and had since then become an avid closet otaku.

Powers:

  • Barrier Maiden: Activates whenever she experiences life-threatening danger or wills it to come forth(once she's aware of her own powers). Transforms her current clothes into that of her magical girl uniform, a white, sleeveless robe with a bare midriff, salwars and a headdress. In addition to her abilities below, she gained limited flight and slightly improved physical capabilities during this form.
    • Barrier Shield: Creates a magical, kinetic barrier around her or anyone near her, able to absorb damage equivalent to that of several concrete walls. While powerful, sustained damage will chink away at the defenses before eventually breaking it down. She could maintain the barrier at five minutes, tops before requiring a breather time to erect it again. She could make individual barriers for more than one person or make a single one that covers a huge area, though that comes at the price of reduced defense and duration.
    • Heal: A typical healing spell that she can use by laying her onto the ones she wants healed. Can heal scratches and minor wounds to most injuries short of outright limb regeneration and very fatal wounds. Typically, the more dire said injuries are, the longer it takes for her to heal them.
    • Focused Barrier: Instead of conjuring huge barriers for long periods of time for defensive purpose, she can instead conjure focused mini-'barriers' at any part of her body in an instant. While effective at being able to 'parry' attacks far more powerful than what her barrier could normally withstand on certain parts of the body, that's not all that it can do. By combining her physical attacks with this technique, she could deliver blows far more devastating that she could normally deliver through clever maneuvering and timing. IE Aki tries punching a guy. Before the attack, she conjures a very minuscule 'mini'-barrier at the far end of her hand, delivering a more powerful impact from the sudden appearance of the focused force or, if she's feeling really devious, damaging an opponent internally by conjuring the force of her barrier within said opponent just before her punch impacts them. Especially useful against tough and/or armored enemies and, combined with her Heal, can be adjusted to be non-lethal instead of potentially redecorating someone's organs into a crude mess. The downsides however is that she has to get up close and personal, in addition to having to gauge and calculate her attacks with the enemy in the midst of battle. Lacking any sort of real combat experience whatsoever, it'll be a long while for her to utilize this to great extent. And while her smaller, focused Barrier could sustain more damage in exchange for defending a small part of her body, an Ao E attack such as an explosion and such can render that moot and give her a bad day.

Backstory: Born an orphaned girl in an unnamed region somewhere in Middle East Asia, she was lucky enough to be happily adopted into a family of two at a young age of three. As such, she doesn't have much emotional baggage she may have at being adopted and any traces of that has been thinned out over the years. She was raised with great care from her foster parents, making many friends around her neighborhood and in general having a good time there. Life was pretty great.

Then, something happened around their area which caused her family to move around a lot. She didn't get it at the time, and probably still doesn't now. All she knows is that they moved from town to town, then to other states before eventually having had enough and moved far away from the comforts of her former home, finally reaching Newbury by flight. She was eleven at the time, and nervous at suddenly moving in to, in her own mind, an utterly alien land.

Timeskip a couple of years later and all of her nervousness are instead transformed into newfound fascination of her new environment. That, combined with her eccentric appearance and outgoing personality, caused her to make many new friends in her school. As of now, with summer just around the corner, she's been left off wondering on how to spend it this year...

Others:.While she isn't technically a dedicated devout by any stretch of the imagination, she still adheres to her local ideals and beliefs due to her past living environment. While she generally tries to keep an open mind on most matters, there have been times where she can be a bit... conservative and old-fashioned. Whether this will come into play in the RP or not is up in the airs.

Appearance:Short dark red hair and flat teal eyes. usually seen wearing a white T-Shirt with a CAUTION sign on it and blue jeans with sneakers. Almost never seen without her sight cane. You know, the blind person ones. No idea what those are called ^_^;

Personality:Very bubbly and optimistic, while being aloof and slightly ditzy.

Powers: *Third Eye:A Psychic eye allows Velita to perceive the world around her, although quite blurry. She still uses her cane most of the time, as she's prone to walking into something if she hasn't noticed it.

  • Psychokinesis:She can move small to medium sized objects with the power of her miiiiiiind. This may also be extend to herself to include self flight, but she isn't the most comfortable doing so. She's required to touch the object (or person) before doing so. Or hit it with...

  • Psychic Blasts!:Velita can send either a ball of energy through her hands or feet at her opponent or expel the energy in a small burst around her. If it's within her size limit, she can use Psychokinesis on it after impact of the ranged orbs Not the Area of Effect tho, that'd be a tad OP hitting multiple things, yeh? . Otherwise, it just causes minor damage and knockback.

Whack!:It's literally Velita hitting them with her cane...backed up by mental power, so it feels more like a baseball bat.

Backstory:Velita Stiles was born blind to Arthur and Mary Stiles. Her condition, however didn't detract from her perseverance, however, learning Braille in near no time and practically begging her family to let her attend school, attaining decent grades in the process.

Other!:Uuuuuhm...she's a dog person...a cat person...a bunny person...if it's fluffy, she likes it. :P
