Welcome to the Discussion Thread for Hope, Determination, and Friendship, a Magical Girl RP based around a "Groundhog Day" Loop!

Here you can discuss things going on in the RP or just chat with your fellow participants. Off-topic chatter is allowed, within reason. This is also a place to ask for a recap, whether you're a newcomer seeking to join the RP or someone who's already joined who just needs clarification.

Introducing Your Character

• Your character will gain her powers after waking up from a dream featuring a mysterious girl in white, with dark blue hair and red eyes. You don't necessarily need to write this dream if you don't want to, and if you do you don't need to worry about keeping the aforementioned girl in character (I'll just chalk it up to your character's subconscious influencing their perception of her).
• If your character gains any special artifacts/familiars, she'll find them either lying on her or next to her bed when she wakes up.
• There is no specific starting location, though it can be assumed your character starts at her home.
• If you're joining later in a loop, you can simply drop your character in and Hand Wave what she was doing before the current events in the loop.

Unless otherwise stated, these features of the setting will appear in all loops (if not necessarily sharing the aesthetic). Sub-locations will be crafted as needed.

Newbury

• The city is mid-sized and sits in a valley. It is divided in half by a river. The overall population is around half million.
• It's largely clean and free of air pollution, at least in most of the districts.
• There are a small number of skyscrapers in the city's interior.
• For the most part it's reasonably modern, although there are some older buildings that look as if they date back to the 19th century or so. Some may possibly be older than that.
• Basically, think Pittsburgh and you won't be too far off.

• Notable Sub-locations:
  • Central Park: A large park close to the center of the city, split in half by the river. It's known for its wide collection of native flora, which the city takes pains to upkeep.

Hills

• The city is surrounded by hills. Some of the outskirts of the city are built on these hills, but for the most part they're covered in woods and wilderness. There's probably some secrets to be had in there, if one's willing to look.

• Notable Sub-locations:
  • Mt. Era: Among the hills is a peak that can clearly be defined as a mountain. While no Mount Everest, it's tall enough to be visible from the city's interior.

• ???: A mysterious girl, dressed entirely in white with red eyes, that appeared in the player character's dreams shortly before they woke up with their powers. She's clearly connected to them somehow, though just how isn't clear.

• Theme Music: Spring Lane ~ Colorful Path (Touhou 9)

• Setting Details:
  • Very similar to reality for the most part. There's some underlying magic to the setting, but apart from the player characters' abilities and eventually their enemies it's not obvious (mostly manifesting in the odd thing science can't explain).
  • All details about the recurring locations can be assumed unchanged.

• Enemies: ???

• Notable Non-player Characters: ???

• Events:
  • After receiving the dream and waking up with their powers, the characters go about their daily business and possibly find each other along the way.
  • Most of the characters find themselves in Central Park, where they're attacked by bizarre, angelic wheel-like creatures. The stragglers learn about their powers in the process.

Before anyone else posts, and since I *arg*ed up when I said this before (I again apologize for the misunderstanding, Doctor Thunder):

If you want to be a douchebag towards your fellow players, you do so at your own risk. I'm not going to tolerate it; if you ignore this and act like that anyway, I'm going to throw you out of the RP and possibly sic a moderator on you for good measure. I'd like to have a successful RP here, and we can't have that when the players don't have any respect for each other, now can we?

And another, more important thing I'd also like to say. If you've been in an RP of mine in the past...well, you should know that I don't have the best track record with these things. My last couple didn't really make it past the first chapter. This time around, I've hoped I've learned from my past mistakes.

I'm sticking with this RP until the end if it kills me.

So on a different note, if you want to have your character be familiar with someone else's before the RP starts, now would be a good time to discuss that. Or you could all have your characters be total strangers to each other at the RP's start. Either works for me.

I don't know, Maike is only on vacation, so while she maybe had seen others before I doubt she would know anyone better... maybe if you include things like skype-friendship, I personally have no preference.

Oh, nice, glad to see this is up. Also, you really don't need to apologize, That was as much a misunderstanding on my part as it was an accident on yours.

Caitlyn might know her from school or something? Other than that I don't know.

I would assume most of our characters go to school together at least.

Anyone want to be friends with Mori? And by 'friends' I mean Mori just follows you around and won't leave. But, like, in an endearing sort of way.

Also Mori has a kitty. Nice friendship perk right there.

Verity will be chums with anybody, as long Mori can withstand her boundless enthusiasm I think it can work.

And Caitlyn likes kitties.

@Author Existence Failure: If that happens, then I'll be dead and won't care.

@School Districts: Actually, cities can have a bunch of different school districts, so unless all the characters start out in the same location there's no guarantee everyone will go to school together.

On a different note, I'm planning on starting the RP after the weekend (since the site in general tends to be pretty slow on the weekends). Does anyone have any objections to this plan?

I'm going on vacation for all of next week so my availability might be iffy... As long as the rp doesn't go to fast I'll be able to participate though. (Place I'm going has wifi)

Well, it's Fourth of July week.

I'm testing for my driver's permit next thursday but otherwise no.

I may have issues on July 4th itself (probably not though) but otherwise I'm fine. I'm ready!

Although she's not exactly outgoing, I'd imagine Carol is the kind of person to have that one good friend that she's known since like kindergarten, and even if they've grown to be completely different they'd still be close. Would anyone like to commit to that relationship? (i know you're all clamoring for it)
