Yeah, but Glossaryk seems to have a weird chicken/egg relationship with magic. Also, I suppose little of value was lost.

Yeah, we didn't see whether Globgor can still change size or Tom use fire powers. We don't even know if the mirror phones still work. Showing Pony Head flying around really brings into question how much of the "magic" was actually needed.

(Side note: I saw the talking dog and her owner as one of the cameos on Earth before the merge with Mewni, so mark that down as an argument against the "being forced into a dimension that's no longer your home" thing)

I also still don't get the genocide thing. The argument seems to be that countless offscreen people who may not even exist may or may not have died. It seems like willfully trying to see the worst possible outcome.

[up] All those unicorns whose only mistake was being sentient in the very source of Star's tantrum, and those deaths weren't offscreen or implied.

@Kayeka: Well that's a bit of Darwinian way to look the spells themselves and the unicorns.

[down] So? Toffee caused the same thing to happen much earlier, but Star found the light in that darkness. They could've had that happen again, which could've saved 'em.

[down][down] Yeah, this is why I'm giving the show enough of pass to rewatch.

You mean the ones that had already been corrupted and turned evil?

It feels like we're only missing a few perspectives, like that of the spells. As pointed out, they'd probably be willing to help Star, but they seem forgotten. But I never liked how the spells were sentient.

Or, like, Doop Doop. He dead. But no one caring about him is basically the entire joke.

I did like how it appears the Magic High Commission died in the middle of their victory party. I feel a little bad, even, but it's mostly funny.

It felt rushed, but this being the final season appears to have taken the writers by surprise. The entire season felt crammed. I mostly liked the ending, but there are serious issues.

If magic had been established as something only used by the elites, if other seemingly magical abilities were better explained, and if the spells weren't sentient it wouldn't have been so bad.

There's also Reynaldo. He really didn't do anything wrong.

So it was mostly an anime thing where magic goes away...

Yeah, we didn't see whether Globgor can still change size or Tom use fire powers. We don't even know if the mirror phones still work. Showing Pony Head flying around really brings into question how much of the "magic" was actually needed.

So then instead of implied genocide, it becomes the series not making any sense by being completely arbitrary about what is magic and what isn't. Much better.

I also still don't get the genocide thing. The argument seems to be that countless offscreen people who may not even exist may or may not have died. It seems like willfully trying to see the worst possible outcome.

I won't deny the fact I hate The Magic Goes Away ending influenced my judgement on that ending, but at the very least Reynaldo, the Laser Puppies and all of Star's spells (who were shown to have an entire society and children) died offscreen if the show makes any sense at all. And it's not the worst possible outcome, just the most realistic outcome; Mewni and probably several dimensions have been using magic for entire years the same way we use technology. Try imagining all technology on Earth abruptly ceasing to work and tell me with a straight face that wouldn't cause tons of death or ruin countless lives.

[up]Well no one bought the toys, the 80’s were ending, so it got cancelled after one season.

If you meant society, badly. Social order broke down, feudal order reigned and a general “might makes right” attitude ran society. The wizard that brings the heroes and villains together repeatedly had to tell them to knock it the hell off because they’re to serve him, not squabble with each other.

In the name of referencing obscure stuff, at least we didn’t get the premise of Aura Battler Dunbine.

It was sad seeing how fewer awesome/funny/heartwarming moments there were in Season 4 listed here in comparison to the previous seasons. I actually do agree it wasn't as good, but still nice.

I mean, they really couldn't surpass Toffee as a villain. Like most grand finales, there's still a Sequel Hook!

That's okay, there's always My Little Pony! Wait, that's in its last season too. Well, there's always The Amazing World Of Gumball! That is also in its last season.

I really am sad that this Golden Age of Animation is ending, because I truly believe these have been the best animated shows of all time.

Moon cleaned off Eclipsas magic there in S3 after getting injured.

My guess its because the spell she gave moon was her tweaked version of Solaria's Final Solution spell. The same spell that killed Doug-Doug, and had an episode dedicated to establishing just how dangerous it was.

That's the thing. It was teased that Eclipsa's magic in SPECIFIC has a dark and possibly forgiving effect as seen when Marco looked into her chapter same for magic used when experiencing nagative emotions as seen in Bon Bon and Just Friends. It felt like they were setting something with that only for it to get dropped.

Star read it and it wasn't a big deal. It seems more the how the behilder seems to cone in to it. Thus Marco was all demonic while Star was fine.

@Ericho TOME

There's OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes, Craig of the Creek (which is essentially Recess in the woods), The Loud House (and its sister series The Casagrandes), Victor and Valentino, Amphibia (which already feels set to replace Sv TFOE and Gravity Falls in the wackiness category), Infinity Train, and even Tangled has been quite something.

To say nothing of the roll Star Wars has been on, with their cartoons easily being better quality than anything else in the franchise atm(although given The Last Jedi that really sin't saying anything).

No, the golden age is still going.
