Discuss TV Tropes itself, such as observations you've made about the site/forum/wiki.
NOTE: Keep it civil; try not to get into any Flame Bait-y territory, per the forum rules (in particular, drama importation and popcorn posting are not allowed, and this thread is for discussion about the site and not the users). In addition, while discussing the Edit Banned thread is not prohibited on its own, discussing and/or alluding to specific cases is not permitted.
One thing I've noticed is that for all how the page for They Might Be Giants claims them to be the unofficial official band of this wiki, there's relatively few people on this site who seem to ever reference them.

Thanks, but maybe sometime in the future. If it is a problem, I don't have enough proof yet.
I have another one... When I first joined the forums, I thought that the fact that I actually like clowns would make me weird. But it seems like everyone I've met here is either just fine with clowns or loves them just like I do. I can't think of anyone I know here who is actually scared of clowns (but if you are, I apologize.) No "Bowser's Fury" questions please. I haven't played it yet.
For me, it depends on the clown. If it's Stephen King's It, then I get scared. If it's Krusty, then I laugh. XD If it's Harley Quinn, then I crush on her.
I like to keep my audience riveted....has it happened to you that someone tried to correct and lecture you about the meaning of a trope that you yourself launched? It just happened to me today.
Something similar happened to me a few days ago — someone added an example of a trope I launched, I removed it 'cos it was misuse, and then they added it right back. I had to PM them and explain and they removed it. Edit war averted?
In their defense, it’s not like who made what trope is common knowledge or anything like that.
It's been 3000 years…Yeah, that's true. But still, someone telling me "read the trope description before you comment" feels pretty ridiculous when I was the one who wrote said trope description... :D
People here are very calm and level headed when it comes to discussing controversy.
I used to think this wiki was weirdly horny. I wasn't wrong, but that's more The Artifact, and nowadays people only seem to be into sex a normal amount.
I also used to hate the forums because I only used a forum for a show that was heavily controversial and everybody was spouting bad takes. Turns out that was more restricted to that specific forum. Other forums seem chill.
I still don't get how people make serious friends here though, cuz I treat this site as a more detached way to discuss media than social media.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. You stick around a while and wind up talking with people, you eventually get on voice chat and even game together. We wind up sharing bits of our lives with each other over enough time.

Who watches the watchmen?Yeah, people have made friends on forums for years, social media isn't the only way to make friends online (and I personally tend to prefer talking on forums anyway)

"Leftover items still have value!"I don't make friends these days.
Considering the pandemic, I'm not surprised.
I wasn't making friends long before any pandemic.
It’s weird to think how there’s probably not a single person who’s seen every single trope on this website.
back lolLet's see: 56 pages of Trope pages in main, each (except the last maybe) having 500 tropes... that makes over 27500 tropes. Yeah, that would take way too long to learn them all.
SoundCloudIs Abandoned Area really the very first trope alphabetically?
...Someone should make a trope about aardvarks.
No "Bowser's Fury" questions please. I haven't played it yet.I'm pretty sure numbers are put in first.
It's been 3000 years…"alphabetically"
Pretty sure the wiki code requires page names to start with a letter, so they all have to be spelled out like “one hundred.” Custom titles aren’t taken into account for that index as it’s automated.
SoundCloudI didn't think Duolingo had a page here (let alone a character sheet). Didn't think it had that many tropes.

Macron's notesIt says it does not have a notability rule, but it appears the create itself out of other policies.
"Listen up, Marina, because this is SUPER important. Whatever you do, don't eat th“ “DON'T EAT WHAT?! Your text box ran out of space!”The Repair Shop morgue goes back to late 2010, yet the midway point of its archive is around May 2012. Shows that activity has slowed down in the wiki, but also that the worst offenders have been covered (anyone remember what Fat Monica, Isn't It Sad and My Name Is Prince Darien were?) and that Trope Launch Pad now does its job.
It's a trend in wikis generally: activity plateaus after some time (yes, even Wikipedia).

Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years. The only one I could remember off the top of my head was Isn't It Sad to Demoted to Extra. Had to click on Fat Monica to remember what it was, and I actually don't even recall My Name Is Prince Darien. Boy time flies.
With what happened to Anti-Necro and Trash Heap, do I get the feeling that some tropers only joined this site for the forums and forum games?

You could probably bring it up in Ask The Tropers and see if the hive mind agrees that it needs a clean up.
