Laconic Description Improvement

Today I found out an interesting fact from troper Ironeye:

Don't ever make the mistake of using the Laconic version as the canonical trope meaning—the laconics are often written by people who don't actually understand the drop. In this case, the laconic only corresponds to one possible cause of Darkness-Induced Audience Apathy.

The Laconic Description for DIAA states as follows:

The thing is, these descriptions are supposed to make it easier to understand what the page is about. If they can't be accurate as well as short and sweet, then there's a problem.

So for starters, what would be a better description for DIAA?

The Laconic for Robbing the Dead is actually the Playing With page.

Laconic.Robbing The Dead

I've copied the content to the playing with namespace, but that still leaves us without a laconic. I'll do my best.

The laconic entry for Obliquely Obfuscated Occupation sounds a bit too much like What, Exactly, Is His Job?.

What is this "sleep" you speak of?

Laconic.Special Snowflake Syndrome looks a bit too broad. The definition limits the trope to character creation in Role-Playing Games.

I think it could be tweaked into "Going out of your way to make your Roleplay character more unusual than the rest" or something of the like.

[up]I thought this trope was under discussion in order to make the description less RPG-specific.

[up]Well the discussion sort of died, so I assumed that the current definition (limited as it is) stays?

Anyway, the laconic for Death by Newbery Medal is also too broad and does not explain the trope in the slightest, and requires one to understand the definition of True Art Is Angsty to understand this one.

Proposed change: "The lovable sidekick of the child protagonist is killed of as a part of his/her Coming of Age Story."

Wide-Open Sandbox is just "Railroading? What railroading?" Should I change it to: "The plot is not [[{{Railroading}} a one-way street]] and nobody's stopping you from going anywhere."?

Yes, except without the pothole. The reader of a Laconic shouldn't need to follow a pothole to another page to understand what's it means.

Better would be something like "You can go anywhere, anytime, in any order."

Flat Joy is just "Yaaaaaay." As funny as that is, should it be "When a character expresses a moment of joy in the most deadpan manner possible."? That's taken directly from the description, by the way.

Gentleman and a Scholar says "The Smart Guy is sanguine (fun to be around)," but that doesn't look like what the page is saying at all. It doesn't say anything about fun.

From the description: "He manages to be both a highly intelligent expert in his chosen field and a pleasant, well-adjusted, and socially engaging human being, sometimes being even more attuned to the nuances of social etiquette than many less-intelligent characters."

Suggestion: "The intelligent expert who's also well-adjusted and socially engaging."

But Not Too Black needs an actual laconic because what it currently has is nonsense.

Laconic/NaïveEverygirl says, "The girl who believes that love and friendship solve everything," but that's not what the page says.

The Laconic for Deadman Wonderland - Laconic.Deadman Wonderland (I know it's a work page.) is reliant on you knowing the content of two anime and either a series about a prison or the adventures of Ozma and Dorothy, since Oz refers to multiple works.

How about "Falsely accused kid sent to a theme park prison for murder"?

[up]Much better description. I have not watched either Elfen Lied or Love Hina, and Oz may be about a prison, but there are also two series of books (at least) that are only tangentially related set in a land with that title.

So I made a Pure Energy page without knowing what I was doing and then I erased everything which is apparently worse than just having a bad page.

Any suggestions on what to do?

^ You mean Pure Energy, not Hard Light.

Well, I wrote this as a possible replacement. I'm not really fond of it though.

"Pure" energy is treated like it was some form of matter and could be manipulated at will.

The laconic for Hollywood Homely says that this is about "beautiful people pretending to be ugly", but that's not really the definition of this trope.

I think "Casting attractive people as characters that are supposed to be ugly" or something along those lines would be better.

A more accurate definition would be "Supposedly ugly characters in media when played by attractive actors".

Made that switch for now. Though, I'm wondering, if this is about actors and actresses, do we need to remove examples of other media where actors could not be involved?
