Simpsons basically has no continuity aside from “Homer and Marge met in high school in the ‘70s, Abe is a WW 2 vet, Bart and Lisa were born in the ‘80s, Mona abandoned the family after destroying Burns’s germ lab and helping him up, Maggie shot Burns, Maude and Krabbappel are dead, Sideshow Bob framed Krusty, Santa’s Little Helper was adopted on Christmas, Milhouse’s parents divorced.”
Think that’s all the continuity this show has.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life! For some bizarre reason Milhouse parents got back together. I didn't see the episode where they undo the divorce and the parents still seem to hate each other but they are together like in the recent vacation episode (Pura vida). Patty being gay was referenced in Pura vida so that's canon now too.
see my completed Tangled (Varian) fanfic collection! https://archiveofourown.org/works/24467056/chapters/59049532Barnie should have stayed sober,I liked it when he stopped being the drunk
New theme music also a boxI wish Simpsons would commit to more small changes to the status quo like that
It would help keep things more fresh maybe
Forever liveblogging the AvengersTheir argument would be "But he's funnier when he's drunk!"
New theme music also a boxWell has run dry.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersKrebapel's escapades are also canon and recognized.
Selma adopting Ling.
Flanders is no longer financially better than Homer since the Leftorium is no longer a thing and he now teaches Bart's class, ironically taking over for his second deceased wife.
Lisa becoming vegetarian and converting to Buddhist.
The Nahasapeemapetilon octuplets.
Okay, so here’s the updated list of continuity:
- Homer and Marge meeting in high school during the 1970s (Way We Was)
- Krabbappel’s escapades and having dated Skinner
- Abe being a WW 2 vet (Raging Abe Simpson)
- Maude’s death (Alone Again, Natura-diddly)
- Bart and Lisa being born in the 1980s (I Married Marge and Lisa’s First Word)
- Selma adopting Ling
- Patty being a lesbian
- Mona abandoning the family (Mother Simpson)
- Maggie Shot Burns (Who Shot Mr. Burns)
- Santa’s Little Helper being adopted on Christmas (Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire)
- Kirk and Luann being divorced then re-marrying (A Millhouse Divided and Little Orphan Millie)
- Krabbappel’s death
- Sideshow Bob framing Krusty (Krusty Gets Busted)
- Heck, every Sideshow Bob episode in general
- I just learned that the Leftorium is not a thing anymore and that Flanders took over Krabbappel’s job, so Ned is no longer better off than Homer.
- The Octuplets (Eight Misbehavin’)
- Lisa being Vegetarian (Lisa the Vegetarian)
- Lisa bring Buddhist, and Homer and Bart being Catholic.
Homer and Bart weren't Catholic. They took a liking to the religion, but reverted by the next episode.
Would Kent Brockman wining the lottery count? He's been living well since then.
I thought Kent was living luxury from day one.
Bart and Lisa can't be born in the 80s anymore lmao
She/they. Hirrus Clutumnus is my comfort characterThe show uses a Floating Timeline, so the general thing is “a few years after high school, Homer knocks up Marge with Bart and they have a Shotgun Wedding”.
Okay, I’ve only heard of that episode so I didn’t know that didn’t stick.

You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!Let's do some math:
Homer and Marge are meant to be 40 and 38, respectively. So that means Homer was born in 1982 and Marge's 1984. Anne Hathaway's as old as Homer now.
Bart, Lisa, and Maggie are 2012, 2014, and 2021. I don't have much to comment on that, other than Lisa's Wedding is officially non-canon.
@Ultimatum I think the main argument against it is that they didn't give Barney any other characteristic to replace it so he kind of became a Flat Character.
That's a recurring issue if Character Development is done to excessively and completely erases a characters defining vices, especially if the character relied too much on said vice to be interesting.
Kirk remarrying can be considered a similar deal, only Kirk found a new shtick, just putting him back with Luanne allowed him to branch it out further (along with drag Luanne down with him and give her some sort of dynamic).
The Real Jims makes some interesting videos about character timelines and how they develop throughout the show as it goes on that might be worth watching. He also tried figuring out Grandpa's timeline and was surprised how relatively consistent it was.

Well, I (kind of) got Disney+ back, so I decided to rewatch "The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson". Still a fantastic episode and definitely the best of season 9. Also, am I the only person who wants "Kickin' It: A Musical Journey through the Betty Ford Center" to be made into a real musical?
She/they. Hirrus Clutumnus is my comfort characterThe Hollywood Reporter has a retrospective on The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show which aired 25 years ago.
God, I'm old.
Nevermind.

In other news, who else is remembering the Super Bowl episode right now? I certainly am. XD ^_^;;
I smell magic in the air. Or maybe barbecue. So, I’m honestly wondering why Homer and Marge are still together? Several episodes have shown that their relationship is pretty rocky.
I know that Homer can’t sustain himself without Marge but that is a very toxic relationship and Homer should be able to sustain himself without Marge.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life! It's a Status Quo Is God show, that's why.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.
I just remembered this funny opposite-ness.
In "Homer's Enemy," when Barney saw that Moe had somehow gotten Richard Nixon's "enemies list," Moe put him on the list without a second thought. Then later in "Days of Wine and D'ohses," when Barney announced that he was going to go sober and clean up his act, Moe freaked out when he realized that he'd be losing his best customer and a large source of his revenue.
-holds two thumbs up- Great continuity! XD
