Alright, so in TRS Badass Gay came up for discussion and it was agreed that there appears to big problem with the Badass X tropes in general, which needs to be sorted out until something can be ruled on for Badass Gay.

Noted Problems include:
- Tropes are just listings of characters people thing are badass who happen to have a certain trait. (The Badass + Trait Problem)
- Badass X as a naming scheme is actually very vague and doesn't give a lot of insight into what the character trope actually is, assuming it is a trope.
- Badass X as a naming scheme proliferates the use of Badass + Trait 'tropes'.
Suggested things to do include:
- Make it a requirement that a badass character trope means a character is "badass because of a trait", or "badass in spite of a trait".
- Renaming away from the Badass X naming scheme as much as possible.
- Cut, redefine or re-purpose things that are just Badass + trait.
There are also a lot of tropes that seem to be valid character-types, but have the naming scheme 'Badass X', when there's more to the trope than that. There are also a lot of prop or event or whatever tropes that need to be gone through as well.

nope, that’s the one part we should keep. As ambiguous as it is, it’s the sole connecting factor.
It’s the thing that’s going away though on all these tropes, that’s the big thing that the thread collectively voted on a while back.

That's the exact reason why it should not be removed from the title before all of the tropes are fixed.

The connecting factor is that they come under some potential definition of Badass. Look through the list, not all have "Badass" in the title, otherwise it would be a SGI, which we don't have anyway. They're all about things that could be in some way describes as badass, not all are going to have "badass" in their name by the time we're done (there will likely be some exceptions where it clearly isn't a problem, like Badass in a Nice Suit), but that doesn't negate that it's what connects them and we have no better way of describing it or else we'd have just put that better way up on the Badass page and been done a while ago. It's like you think they're losing their badass-quality, rather than just the contentious word. Seriously.
Tl;dr: the index is about Badass tropes by whatever definition, it keeps the name Badass if nothing else.

If we just removed "List of", I think the resulting name "Badass Tropes" would be fine as it is for now. Hell, there's already a page of that title under another namespace: Sandbox.Badass Tropes.
...if they're different it would be more ideal to keep them separate, else someone deletes the sandbox or something.

Do we even need to keep that sandbox? When was the last time it was edited?
Sandbox.Badass Tropes as is is a worksheet so it does not need a rename or move.
Also, I've fixed the thread header. ~Willbyr, to change a header you need to move the thread to TRS, change the header there and then move it back.

So Badass Grandpa is Not A Trope and we are to delete the links, right?
Preferably replace good examples with the appropriate trope (see list above) — if there's a ZCE or the example is just old guy + vague "badass"-ness or, worse, actual grandpa + I think he's awesome, delete it.

I'm mainly a fan of underrated media.
Having not seen the whole discussion, perhaps cutting the trope down to person is immensely physically fit despite being way past their prime. By past their prime, I mean age sixty and above. If the body is not old/is immortal, the character doesn't fit the trope.
I feel focusing on this could differ it from Cool Old Guy.

A question has come up as I've done wick-purging: what if the example is not a superhero, not a soldier, not a "master" (i.e. does not fit the Old Master trope), is not presented as "cool", not a retiree from "badass" trade? Should the default, assuming the context is valid, be When Elders Attack?
I've got a quick question. Has Badass Baritone been dealt with? Is that a keeper or is it one that will be dealt with in the future?
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.

I could see that getting cut. All people do is say the character has a deep voice. Even Evil Sounds Deep fulfills a narrative purpose.
A cruel, sick joke is still a joke, and sometimes all you can do is laugh.
& theoretically we could rework it into Baritone Equals Authority, since that’s pretty much what it is, but we haven’t got to it yet

The list is named that way because it’s constantly changing, just for reference, and will eventually be transplanted to the main Badass page. It was just in sandbox until... somewhere during the Badass Princess discussion it was opted to move.
