Wick Migration

Go To

Some tropers (myself included) have been moving works from the Main/ namespace to the appropriate namespace. Unfortunately, some of these moves were done without the wicks being corrected to reflect the new namespaces.

There are more wicks than any one person could handle, so I'm posting here in hopes of getting help. Here is a list of pages that have been moved and need their wicks corrected. (Let me know if you spot any others, and I'll add them to the list.)

EDIT: The list has been moved to Administrivia.Wick Namespace Migration.

Add completed moves in Completed Namespace Migrations.

Just managed to shift the works page for Bleak Old Shop Of Stuff to an actual works page. According to the related tab, the only wick left to change is the work's listing in the list of Work Pages In Main, if someone could sort that one for me please.

~Kathira Narae, we have a forum discussion where you can ask for edits on locked pages. I think I've already filed a request, though.

My cut requests (Main/ redirects to the correct Useful Notes namespace, fewer than 10 inbounds save one case where I was distracted) have all been declined. Has there been a change in policy that I don't know about?

Should we migrate the Italian namespaced articles to the It/ namespace? I mean the It Film/, It Franchise/, It Letteratura/, It Manga/, It Note Utili/, etc. namespaced articles. The other language articles are all under their own namespaces (e.g. De/ for German articles or Fr/ for French articles).

Edit: Some examples are "Pokémon, Shin Megami Tensei, Annihilation, and Kingdom Come."

Articles in different languages are maintained in the Translations forum.

My concern had to do with the namespaces, so I figured I'd come here. I'll take it to the Italian translation forum, though.

I think I moved Yoji Yamada and Shuhei Fujisawa to their appropriate (Creator/) namespaces and edited the wicks. (Not that the actual articles are written properly, but I'm unfamiliar and can't judge.) Would appreciate letting me know if I messed up anywhere.

~Pyrite: All OK except that you did forget to ask for edits on locked pages (removal, in this case).

Thanks. Hereby requesting removal of Yoji Yamada and Shuhei Fujisawa from Creator Pages In Main. I'll put the appropriate links in Namespaced Works with Less Than 15 Wicks.

For future reference, we have a thread in the FAQ forum to request edits.

I just did a namespace fix, namely Main.HetaHazard to VideoGame.Heta Hazard. Though considering the related page is almost completely empty except for one index that I already took care of, I'm not sure if this is anyone's concern. I just thought I'd mention it.

Well, greetings to this process, ~Ms Ami Classified. I see you did mostly good work, but locked pages need to be edited too - we've a thread here, where you need to ask for the removal (not change; that particular page only lists unnamespaced items) of the link.

Samurai Champloo is in its proper namespace, but there are close to 250 of its wicks that still go to main/ and it isn't listed on Wick Namespace Migration.

You'll have to ask for its addition here.

Bumping, because when I took a look at ~rexpensive's page Useful Notes Pages In Main I notice that it includes such pages as Boys Love Notes, Fan, Fan Speak, Automated Dialogue Recording, Argumentum Ad Nauseam, The CSI Effect, Bishōnen Jump Syndrome and others that are more like tropes or indexes. Methinks we got a problem with mis-pagetyping that caused several questionable entries to end up on that article.

Yeah, I basically just copy and pasted everything pagetyped as a useful note, so I would not be surprised if there were a lot of issues like that.

Hmmm, would you think that is worth its own thread, or just edit requests?

Trying to pick apart what usefulnotes typed pages are actually indexes or tropes might require its own thread. Although we could compile a list of pages we are unsure about to remove right now and make a decision about later.

Looking over the A and B range, I see Alternative Comics (genre), Alternative Rock (genre), Ambient (genre-like in music), American Accent Influences (unsure; it's on Accent Tropes), Argumentum Ad Nauseam (trope as written), Art Nouveau (genre/art trope), Ashcan Copy (Trivia), Association Fallacy (trope as written), Authentic Cadence (looks like a trope), Bandwagon Fallacy (looks like a trope), Bishōnen Jump Syndrome (seems like an Audience Reaction to me) and Brit Pop (genre) as removal-worthy. This may need a dedicated cleanup topic to go over everything that may be misplaced there.

So are pages about genres there to serve as indexes?

Genres are a bit like tropes; unless something has changed while I wasn't looking, they aren't Useful Notes.

Hmm, yes, I suppose they kinda have examples, although by the standard of the rest of the wiki they are zero context. But perhaps describing why a song is part of a particular genre would be very difficult? IDK, some of the finer point of troping music elude me.

I've found Five Foundations Of Morality, that looks like it could be better off as a Useful Notes page, because if we try to move it to literature it would be a stub work page.
