Super Robot Wars

FINALLY, some news about SD Gundam Gaiden Knights Of The Round Table's inclusion into Super Robot Wars X-Ω! It seems we're getting King Gundam II, Burning Knight Gundam F91, Dark Knight Gundam Mark II, and Arashi Knight Gundam Mark II!

Also, there will be some news on February 18. Could go for a new console game announcement. Been a while since the last one.

Personally I'm just expecting X-Omega and DD stuff at this stream. I kinda want them to take their time before they announce a new mainline game.

V, X, and T were fun but I'd rather the SRW team not burn themselves out by pushing the games out in a yearly fashion.

Edit: Now that I think about it 2021 will be the franchise's 30th anniversary. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get any news about a new mainline SRW game this year because they plan on giving us a big one for next year.

SD GUNDAM GAIDEN WHAT?!

THAT SOUNDS AWESOME!

Knights of the Round Table, the second story in the SD Gundam Gaiden series after Sieg Zeon Hen, which true to its name is based off of the Arthurian Legend and includes characters based off of mechs and characters from Mobile Suit Gundam F91, the Perfect Gundam and Perfect Gundam III "Red Warrior" from Plamo-Kyoshiro, and even the titular mech from the obscure-but-then-relevant Video Game Mobile Suit SD Gundam: Psyco Salamander no Kyoi. Also because of reasons, Command Gundam from the SD Command Chronicles series ends up in the world of Lacroa (The first world of the Gaiden series) with amnesia, and becomes Barbarian Knight Conan, based off of Conan the Barbarian. SD Gundam can be a bit like Kirby in terms of lore sometimes.

Fun fact; Knights of the Round Table was originally going to have animated shorts like Sieg Zeon Hen did, but the project was cancelled because King Gundam II's design was too complex to consistently reproduce in 2D Animation (CGI was not a popular choice for Animation at the time).

Reminder that there'll be a stream with news in less than three-and-a-half hours;

So after deciding I wouldn't following the mediocrity that was Super Robot Wars X, I went and bought Super Robot Wars T for the Switch.

Even paying import prices, the sheer amount of hours I can sink into these games makes it a worthy investment. Also Cowboy Bebop. Mostly Cowboy Bebop.

A few early thoughts:

• Do they have to make everyone legendary? Spike can't be just a random bounty hunter who happens to be badass, somehow he's known throughout the solar system? The Swordfish can't just be a racing ship, it has to be a legendary racing ship known at first sight? This is after being introduced to the legendary Tetsuya whose so legendary that the government lets him make his own assignments. I'm on the second stage! We haven't even gotten to any UC characters yet.
• So... they've managed to double down on the Escapist Character. While the last game centered on an Ordinary High-School Student, this one stars a Salary Man or an Office Lady. I find that hilarious. I assume the next one will star a video gamer who learned to pilot through playing games.
• It's astounding what a difference a change to the UI makes. Part of why X was so blatantly an Mission-Pack Sequel is that the UI was exactly the same. Just a couple of tweaks here make it so refreshing and makes it feel so much less like a cashgrab.
• The Tyranado is pretty baller. With a baller name.
• They lie more about hit rates than usual. At least it's a two-way street, the computer seems to be missing more too. Normally these games tend to be a huge dick about it and only screw over the player so that's... nice?

... not really, but goddamn I love the fact that there's a freaking Mazinger GM.

It just makes me happy.

Normally when I start a game I ask for any advice but... it's a modern Super Robot Wars game. It's not like difficulty is an issue.

I didn't play a SRW since Moon Dwellers on PS 4, but damn SRW X is really good. And that after playing OG, OG 2, O Gs, 2nd OG, Moon Dwellers, Alpha Gaiden, MX. Didn't play Z at all though.

I know most of the Super Robot and Gundam cast but it makes me want to watch Cross Ange. Also surprised so see Nadia in it, I'm a big fan.

I'd just like to point out "Gamer who learned to pilot via videogames" was done over a decade ago.

Because thats literally how Original Generations canon Ryusei Date learned to pilot.

Gotta love Ryusei.

X suffers from a lot of It's the Same, So It Sucks and It's Easy, So It Sucks!, so if you haven't played V, I could see it knocking your socks off. But a lot of what little is different from V tends to be inferior or a case of Franchise Original Sin where it was okay in V, but X just took it too far (freaking portals, man).

Gotta love the addition of the Extra Arms item, though. "Hey, is there a unit you like but it has garbage attacks and will never be useful? Slap these on it and it'll automatically have a single decent attack!"

I was lucky enough to actually watch Wataru when I was a kid ( It was dubbed in France. ) I'm a Nadia fan, it was enough for me.

I'm asking this on here and some other threads related to Gundam (Since Gundam is a common topic on here) because I want multiple opinions on this; Why do you guys hate SD Gundam and its fans so much? And don't say "I don't hate SD Gundam fans even though they're wrong/have bad taste", that counts as hating and don't bullshit me that it doesn't.

We don't though? I haven't seen anybody in the this thread hate on SD Gundam.

Just because we don't talk about it a lot that doesn't mean we hate it. It just means we don't have any strong feelings toward it.

The good news is that Bandai will be making a HG Model kit of one of Super Robot Wars first original units, the Cybaster. This model kit is to help celebrate Super Robot Wars 30th anniversary.
