YMMV / The Flash 2014 S 5 E 13 Goldfaced

  • Awesome Music: Barry and Ralph going full SWAT team on professional criminals is just half the awesomeness. Doing it to Rob Zombie's "Dragula" raises it to a whole new level.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: The Reveal that Sherloque's exes are all doppelgängers of the same woman is vaguely creepy and yet somehow hilarious at the same time.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Sherloque. His One True Love is Renee Adler, but his arrogance inevitably destroyed his marriage. And then he proceeded to repeat the doomed romance six more times with doppelgängers of the same woman, that all ended in bitter divorce.
  • Magnificent Bastard: Goldface, real name Keith, is an affable and friendly meta-human crime lord, who runs a Black Market fitted with copious amounts of security, where all clients are fitted with a meta dampener cuff doubling as an Explosive Leash. Notified of Barry Allen's strange behavior, Goldface decides to test Barry's allegiance by requesting him and Ralph to join their heist, who are both unable to go through with it and betray the crew. So Goldface arms their wrist bombs, but keeps his word in not setting them off when they listen, opting to kill them via combat. Later, Goldface is involved in a gang war with his ex-girlfriend Amunet, where he lets her and the heroes do the work for him and then take the prize all at once. Afterwards the telepathic pollen makes the two villains realize their true feelings and they reconcile. Uniting their gangs into a supergang, Goldface sets his eyes on the CCPD's "metacure bullets", where he brings the entire police force to its knees using knockout gas, including Barry and Captain Kramer, and then fitting them all with his meta-dampener/explosive cuffs. Remembering Barry from last time, Goldface watches him "like a hawk", before later taking Barry and another cop hostage to ensure compliance.
  • Narm: Chris Klein's cartoonishly gruff and threatening demeanor was already teetering on the edge the whole season, and finally tips over when it turns out Dwyer even acts this way when he's pretending to be a normal guy. It just serves as one more reminder of how good an actor Dominic Purcell (Mick Rory) is to make this kind of performance seem natural.
    • Likewise with the characters treating Cicada like an invincible and unstoppable villain whom the whole team would struggle to keep subdued for even 10 seconds. While bordering on Narm previously due to his only protection from mundane solutions being New Powers as the Plot Demands popping up, it becomes very hard to take seriously after seeing Iris (a completely normal human) in high heels take him on in a straight fight and utterly wipe the floor with him.
    • Goldface accidentally hooks his chain into an electrical box and gets blasted with so much electricity that the gold beneath his skin outright melts and pours out from his orifices (notably his eye sockets burst). Barry then runs up to check his pulse and after a few seconds of pause goes, "He's alive!"
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Sherloque's ex-wives being the same person from the different sides of The Multiverse. Many thought that this was perfect opportunity to use an Alternate Self for either or both Tess Morgan and Traci Brand, instead of them being versions of new character Renee Adler.
