YMMV / Tales from the Hood 3

  • Aluminum Christmas Trees: In The Bunker, Denton lives in a bunker and spends his days advocating white supremacy over the radio and scaring off anyone who approaches his bunker. The twist is that Denton lives in a zoo where he's a living exhibit as the "American Racist". Although the metaphor sounds a bit absurd, Human Zoos were very much real and active during the 19th and 20th centuries and involved imprisoning marginalised people and treating them as wild exotic animals. It's worth noting that Human Zoos were seen as controversial during their own time period.
  • Anvilicious: Per the norm for the series, though much less anvillicious as a whole than the previous film.
  • Complete Monster: The seemingly friendly William is a ruthless Serial Killer of children who takes his victims after winning their trust. Placing them in masks, William proceeds to film himself murdering them by hacking them to death with an axe, having multiple victims by the time the film takes place which earns him even the hatred, scorn and disgust of the Devil himself.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Denton alludes to the presidency of Donald Trump, and mistakenly states that people celebrated his "incarceration".note . Come 2023, Trump might actually be facing incarceration.
  • Magnificent Bastard: "Operatic": Marie Benoit and her lover Park are a duo who steal the bodies of other people they lure in order to keep their love eternal. A former opera singer, Benoit had her career ruined from a racist outcry for her role in Carmen, and has been waiting to steal the right body in order begin a new career. Having Park pick singer Chela Simpson, Park convinces Chela to kill Benoit under pretenses of stealing her riches. Park later steals her blood and feeds it to Benoit, allowing her to swap places with Chela while Park kills the latter, allowing Benoit to start her opera career anew.
  • Surprisingly Improved Sequel: While not up to the standard of the original, this is widely seen as a massive step up from the second film, as much less time is spent preaching to the audience and instead spent on crafting some decent stories.
