YMMV / Stardust Memories

Go To

  • Audience-Alienating Premise: This film satirizes Woody Allen fans, specifically the one who reprimanded him for his shift towards serious dramas. Unsurprisingly, this is considered either one of Allen's best, or one of his worst, among his fanbase.
  • Broken Base: For a lot of fans, this film was either one of Allen's best, or one of his worst.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • In one flashback, Dorrie accuses Sandy of flirting with her thirteen-year-old cousin. This seems eerily prescient given how Allen later left Mia Farrow for her adopted daughter.
    • At the end, Sandy gets shot by a guy who claims to be his biggest fan. The film premiered only a few months before Mark David Chapman introduced himself to John Lennon as his biggest fan...
  • Retroactive Recognition:
    • Sharon Stone appears in the opening dream sequence where a beautiful actress is on a train and she kisses the train window at Allen. It was her first film appearance. Also counts as One-Scene Wonder.
    • Brent Spiner is one of the "grotesques" on the train in the beginning. He's unmistakable, looking exactly like Data since it's in black and white.
