YMMV / Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint

  • Awesome Art: The Webtoon's art made by Redice Studio has some truly breathtaking panels, with action panels that showcase certain scenes in the Webnovel and manage to make them all the more memorable. Adding to that are the times the panels become more experimental, bordering on Painting the Medium with certain scenes involving the Constellations and the Star Stream.
  • Broken Base: The change in translators and the subsequent changes in the translation, in particular the romanization of character names. Some welcomed the changes as it fixed some translation errors and made the story flow better in English while others thought the changes made the characters feel unfamiliar and changed the entire mood of the novel, some even threatening to drop it. It's to the point that the series' fanwiki has pages documenting the controversy with data showing that it made the story take a huge drop in rankings on Webnovel which only recovered when the Webtoon released.
  • Catharsis Factor: In response to Dokja "technically" clearing Scenarios not in the way he hoped for, Dokkaebi Paul has been altering them just to spite him because he's "technically" allowed to. After directly causing future Shin Yoosung's Heel–Face Door-Slam, even the admins got tired of his abuse, and before he's taken away, Dokja wastes his money for a private chat privilege he uses full 30 minutes of just to beat the crap out of him. Dokja's companions, a few Constellations and certainly many readers were very satisfied by this act.
  • Fanon Discontinuity: The official Webtoon translation uses the Western order of first name + last name for the characters rather than the other way around (which is how most Asian countries write their names), resulting in things like "Dokja Kim" or "Dokja Kim Company" instead of the more iconic "Kim Dokja Company". It also adopts a more Western culture in the translation, which results in Lee Gilyoung calling Dokja plain "Dokja" instead of "hyung", the honorific "-ssi" being abandoned completely, Yoo Mia calling her brother plain "Junghyeok" instead of "oppa", etc. The majority of fans, especially those who first knew this franchise from the webnovel, ignore these changes.
  • Fan-Preferred Couple: While Dokja is the Launcher of a Thousand Ships, a lot of the fandom seems to lean towards being more on board for the Kim Dokja and Yoo Joonghyuk ship than most others.
  • Friendly Fandoms:
    • On the Korean side of ORV fandom, there's a lot of overlap with the Lout of Count's Family and The S-Classes That I Raised fandoms.
    • Many fans of the ORV Webtoon also become fans of the World After The Fall webtoon as well, with it being an adaptation of one of Singshong's previous novels, and all the references and outright cameos of the ORV characters in the form of them being skins of the gods as well as Jaehwan appearing in ORV's epilogue as a cameo allowing for readers to enjoy the works as a whole together.
  • Genius Bonus: While it's not a requirement to be very knowledgeable in various parts of history or mythology to read Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, it becomes a much better experience if you know some of the things or people being referenced.
  • Growing the Beard: Many examples of this, though some of the biggest moments would be Dokja and Yoo Joonghyuk fighting at the Cinema Dungeon, or Dokja becoming the King of a Kingless World, to name a few from the first 100 chapters.
  • Hollywood Homely: Kim Dokja is noted to be an unremarkable, plain-looking dude. Official art and the Webtoon adaptation both portray him as being quite handsome, which fans would vouch for.
  • Iron Woobie: Yoo Joonghyuk. He suffered through every regression he goes through in some way, and even Dokja knows that beneath his cold expression, the man is barely functioning. Of course it turns out Kim Dokja is one himself, having spent most of his life alone and with only The Ways of Survival to keep him alive.
  • Launcher of a Thousand Ships: Kim Dokja. Han Sooyoung gave him an indirect kiss with a lollipop, Yoo Sangah almost dies trying to find him, Jung Heewon and Lee Hyunsung are his main supporters, Yoo Joonghyuk is his Life and Death Companion, Uriel gives him the Loved by an Archangel title, Great Sage gives him part of his hair, the list goes on and on.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • During polls, fans have taken to always making sure the numbers come out as 51 and 49.
    • Due to the Constellations being the Audience Surrogate and sharing their opinions on everything the characters do, many Webtoon readers have similarly commented in third-person.
  • One True Threesome: Some people like pairing up Kim Dokja, Yoo Joonghyuk and Han Sooyoung together. Given how all three of them go through hell for one another, and how Yoo Joonghyuk and Han Sooyoung keep searching for Dokja across scenarios and even timelines.
  • Tear Jerker: Many. Special mentions go to the last 50 chapters which are just continuous emotional rollercoasters.
    • Starting off with the group finally discovering who the Oldest Dream is: a fifteen year old Kim Dokja innocently enjoying his favourite story and unknowingly dooming worlds with it. Watching him cower in fear when the adult Kim Dokja tries to kill him and chant "I'm Yoo Joonghyuk" like that's the only thing that can protect him really drives home how mentally fragile he was and how much he needed the story to survive.
    • Epilogue 3: Author's Words is another huge Tear Jerker and finally reveals who tls123 is. A Future Han Sooyoung from the altered 1863rd Turn returns to her 13-year-old body of the past, right when Ways of Survival was supposed to begin serialization and concludes that Kim Dokja is the author and waits for him to start publishing. While waiting and wondering why he was taking so long, she discovers Kim Dokja was hospitalized because he jumped out of a window at school. Realizing just how integral Ways of Survival was for Kim Dokja's survival, she spends the next 13 years writing it, always intending for him to read it. She disappears after finishing the final chapter and all the revisions, running out to meet him one final time.
