YMMV / Khonjin House

Go To

  • Bizarro Episode: The show is an embodiment of bizarre, but even there is a place for few episode to stand out as nonsensical:
  • Broken Base:
    • Fans were somewhat divided over the serialized nature of Khonjin Takes a Break, with many wanting the self-contained stories to come back. Connor agreed with them and went back to making regular episodes.
    • "The Purge" that occurred on September 19, 2018. Connor re-edited many of his videos and removed some episodes, either because he didn't find the jokes funny or they were too dark and could result in his channel getting banned. Fans either found those edits understandablenote  and better in their edited form note  or bafflingnote  and unnecessarynote . The fact that several episodes had their order changed and few cut ones were replaced by Khonjin Takes a Break episodes, which will inevitably confuse newer audience, and everything related to Pent and Supermental was completely wiped out didn't help.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: The Crab Crab from Khonjin Takes a Break became unexpectedly popular among fans. It's a shame that it disappears after the 3rd episode.
  • Epileptic Trees: Despite being a joke series through and through, there is a dedicated set of the fandom trying to piece together a linear story. Theories about Pent being in a coma is prevalent, and such is where each cast member falls under what they symbolize.
  • Fan Nickname: Khonjin's father, Gilmore, is often referred to as "Dadjin" by fans.
  • Seasonal Rot: Season Seven (and Six to a lesser extent) for many. With many episodes being one-note and extremely short without much laughs. A lot of this is likely due to how at this point Connor's vocal distaste to many parts of the show was at its peak, giving off the vibe that he was just phoning those episodes in due to fan demand.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character
    • The Crab Crab and the Penguin orphans from Khonjin Takes a Break were mostly unutilized throughout the whole season.
    • Gino's brother, who's only seen for a few seconds in "Gay" despite having a completely unique design and voice.
  • Win Back the Crowd: After the noticeable dip in quality with seasons 6 and 7, many fans saw season 8 as a true return to form with many of the episodes being in-line with show's earlier (relatively) coherent plots compared to the later outings that felt more like a YouTube Poop than a regular episode.
