YMMV / Conquest

The TV series:

• Magazine Decay: A TV example. Some of the later episodes expand the subject far beyond ancient fighting styles into such topics as demolition derby.
• Narm Charm: Peter Woodward and the Conquest team got to go to work and play barbarian or ninja or start throwing knives at targets. Quite understandably, they have a lot of fun throughout despite the lack of polish, and it shows.

The fanfic:

• Cargo Ship: Grand Moff Tharde has an... interesting attitude toward the Death Star.
• Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • A new Empire rises. The last stronghold of the Republic forces is destroyed right at the beginning. A dwindling tiny force of survivors attempts to flee the Empire, and only survives due to a newly appointed commander of one ship ramming their vessel into the enemy. About fifteen years later, and The Last Jedi comes out...
  • Similarly, Romulus is destroyed in both this fanfic and eventual canon.
• Moral Event Horizon: Ruk has every reason to dislike Chang and the Federation — but it's still evil for him to throw them to the Borg.

The film:

• Awesome Music: The entire score, but especially the opening theme and "Night Creatures". Really, what do you expect from Claudio Simonetti?
• Nightmare Fuel: The sacrificial victim who gets split in half vertically and then decapitated by Ocron's cult. While it's not especially gory by Fulci's standards, it's still pretty unsettling.
• Special Effect Failure:
  • The birds that attack Illias and Mace on occasion look almost as fake as the ones in Birdemic.
  • The Wookiee-esque creatures the two encounter are likewise played by actors in very obvious fursuits.
• This Is Your Premise on Drugs: It's like Conan the Barbarian on multiple drugs... after Mr. Fulci had attempted to interpret the results of someone doing just that.
• Viewer Name Confusion:
  • Is it Ocron or Okhren? Illias or Ilius?
  • For that matter, even though all documents (including this page) call the character "Mace", his name in the movie is usually pronounced as "Mayks".
