HellBound was a Black Comedy by Maniac_wolfman, currently stalled in its last chapter, and is on what looks to be a permanent Series Hiatus. The plot centers around Guy, an incredibly unlucky college kid who loses his soul within minutes of starting a new job, as he tries to retrieve an ancient sacred relic in the hopes of getting his soul back. Along the way, he is accompanied by the violent demon Mel, her airheaded sister Kyota, and an idiotic thief named Baxter. Honestly, he probably gets more help from the sheer incompetence of the forces of good that are arrayed against them.A retrieved archive has been put online here: http://hellboundarchive.thecomicseries.com/comics/1/

Tropes

  • April Fools' Day: A strip that suggested it was rebooting as a heroic fantasy, notable for introducing an anthropomorphic Ky who became a regular on Cross Time Café.
  • Bestiality Is Depraved: Kyota "Coveted her neighbor's ox, if ya know what I mean."
  • Black Comedy: If decapitation doesn't seem funny to you, then you're doing it wrong
  • The Chew Toy: Guy and the Demon Hunter
  • Demonic Possession: While Mel is physically present on Earth thanks to the summoning, Kyota had to possess Guy’s dog. While it’s easier for her to blend in her lack of thumbs occasionally presents a problem.
  • Demon of Human Origin: One page showed that Mel and Kyota used to be mortals who got damned. Mel was a witch in life, who gave her somewhat dimwitted sister a broom and pointy hat and shoved her in front of the angry mob.
  • MacGuffin: Ancient sacred relic #7
  • No Name Given: We never get to know the name of the Demon Hunter's female assistant.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: More like "punch clock antagonist"
  • Summoning Ritual: How the whole thing got started. Guy interrupted his boss as he was binding Mel, allowing her to break free and eat him.
  • Talking Animal: Kyota possesses Guy’s dog.
  • Orphaned Series: As of Feb 1 2008, the main domain is offline, so it's pretty safe to say this comic is gone. It came back up for a while, but that site now has no images available on the pages.
