Voltz is a Minecraft Let's Play series created by the Yogscast, using the titular Voltz modpack.

Voltz contains examples of:

  • Apocalypse How: The red matter bomb that Sips and Sjin set off ended up affecting just Sips and Sjin's base and the mountain behind it (as well as killing themselves and ridgedog several times), but could have wiped out the entire map on the server.
  • Boring, but Practical: Ridgedog builds an elaborate defense system of missiles, poison spikes, automatic turrets, and a railgun. Simon kills him with a bucket of lava.
  • Cheaters Never Prosper:
    • While Sips and Sjin get by OK at first by spawning stuff in, they cheat with a red-matter bomb which almost wipes out the server, and in the process of repairing it they lose nearly all their items and die. Simon even namedrops the trope when he, Lewis and Duncan work out what happened.
    • Ridge's base was filled with a lot more stuff than he had any reasonable excuse to have without having spawned stuff in, after busting open his bunker the main cast begin to loot what they can, and then he winds up losing it all when his failsafe blows his base to hell.
  • Cliffhanger : the ending of Voltz 23 has Ridgedog sending a missile towards the trio's bunker. The automatic defense seemingly isn't working, and the screen cuts to black as Duncan looks up at the missile falling down on him. They didn't even roll with the usual closing theme, instead just having extra ominous music play through the whole moment and then fade to silence.
  • Collapsing Lair: Ridge's base at the end of the series.
  • Deus ex Machina: Ridgedog and Duncan go into creative mode to spawn rejuvenation missiles in to revert the landscape; rather justified as nobody wanted a second version of Tekkit War and they'd only been using it for a few weeks at that point.
  • Didn't Think This Through: The Red Matter incident was primarily triggered by the shortage of copper combined with Sips and Sjin wanting to mine in bulk rather by hand. If they'd just looked in their inventories, they would have found the copper they needed. Unfortunately, they Failed a Spot Check and detonated the Red Matter bomb...
  • Elaborate Underground Base: Ridge's base turns out to me much more than a grove of trees. Pretty much par for the course in Minecraft.
  • Epic Fail: Near the end of episode 24, Lewis, Simon, and Duncan try to fire a nuclear missile at Ridge's base. They completely miss the base, and wind up blowing up the nearby ocean, because they entered the wrong co-ordinate value.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: The red matter bomb used by Sips and Sjin to find copper in the Voltz special continually kills Sips and Sjin, making access to their tools before they despawn impossible.
  • Ignored Aesop: Sips and Sjin steadfastly fail to learn anything from the Red Matter incident.
  • Laser-Guided Karma:
    • After almost dooming the server through the use of their Red Matter bomb, Sips and Sjin end up suffocating to death after a restoring missile fills their base with stone while they are still inside.
    • Also, the fact that the only part of their base that got caught in the original Red Matter and Antimatter explosions was "Deliveries". Which was actually their supply of spawned in cheat items.
  • Never My Fault: Sips humorously claims that Sjin was the one who set the bomb off and that he had nothing to do with it. Sjin, meanwhile, blames boddypen.
  • No OSHA Compliance: Ridgedog manages to build a working fusion reactor with about a third of the materials usually needed. Just don't stand underneath or next to it while it's running.
Ridgedog: It works okay, except for the fire. And the radiation.
  • Oh, Crap!: Everyone when it's revealed that Sips and Sjin set off a red matter explosive.
    • Lewis when Duncan stumbles over some mycelium, as it might have been evidence of a radiation leak.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Lewis races off to deal with the red matter explosion by setting off an antimatter bomb. Duncan does the same thing, but he doesn't say anything until he's set his own bomb to explode, right after Lewis has already dealt with the problem. The end result is a massive crater, the destruction of nearly all the spawned items Sips and Sjin were using and Sips falling to his death yet again.
  • Self-Destruct Mechanism: Ridge installed one in his base.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Frequently. They all seem to be of the opinion that this is the main point of the mod.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial
Sips_: hey come check out our cool bunker guys
Sips_: i promise that there's no crazy wormhole thing under our base continually killing us
