Clone and Rebel Troopers working together? Heck yeah!
Ambush is a LEGO Star Wars brickfilm made by JoeJoeChris014.

Set after the end of the Clone Wars, it follows a group of Rebels allied with a group of Clone Troopers who rebelled after The Empire was formed. As a group of Rebels led by General Darklighter are transporting new vehicle plans, they are ambushed by a Droid Army remnant seeking to claim the plans for themselves, and are forced to call in reinforcements from their Clone allies. Although some of the Rebels don't trust the Clones due to Order 66, they must work with them against their common foe.

It was uploaded onto YouTube in three parts that can be viewed here, here and here.

In early 2011, a trailer was released for a followup called "Besieged". As of 2021 however the project has been shelved.

Tropes:

  • And the Adventure Continues: The film ends with the Rebels and Clone having defeated the Droids and delivered the plans to their main base on Dantooine, but also preparing for battle now that the Empire has detected their presence on the planet.
  • Big Badass Battle Sequence: Two. First when the Rebels and Clones assault the Droid base, and another when the Droid reinforcements launch a counterattack, forcing the Clones and Rebels to have to defend it.
  • Big Damn Heroes:
    • The Clones pull this in Part 1, showing up to save the Rebels as they've been ambushed and are on the cusp of being crushed by the Droids.
    • Jedi Master Sapaelo makes his debut by swooping in and helping to finish off the last of the Battle Droids outside the base.
  • Big Good: General Darklighter is the leader of the Rebel forces transporting the plans. There's also Commander Pit, the head of the defected Clone Troopers as well as the Rebel Alliance presence on Dantooine, and the recipient of the plans Darklighter's forces are delivering.
  • Dual Wielding: Sergeant Doran Dexton dual wields gray pistols in battle.
  • Fantastic Racism: While the Clones are working with the Rebels, some Rebels such as Sam Keylor don't trust them on account of Order 66.
  • Frontline General: Darklighter is a literal general, but that doesn't stop him from fighting alongside his men.
  • Giant Space Flea Out Of Nowhere: Turns out the droids are really led by a random Sith Lord. Who's implied to have a history with Jedi Master Sapaello.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: The Galactic Empire aren't directly involved in the plot, but they're mentioned in the opening crawl and their presence looms over the setting. The end features an appearance from Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader, who are notified by a Stormtrooper squadron of the Rebel base on Dantooine.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Apparently happened prior to the start of the film, with a number of Clone Troopers choosing to defect and fight against the Empire rather than become Stormtroopers for it.
  • Last Villain Stand: Even though his army is defeated, Darth Myth still makes one last attempt to kill Sapaelo. He would have succeeded, in fact, were it not for Aaron Gunner and the rest of the Rebels intervening.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: There are several points where the camera appears to pan out to show the set the Legos are all on.
  • Mecha-Mooks: The Battle Droids of course.
  • Mook Lieutenant: Two Battle Droid Commanders lead the Droid forces guarding the outside of the Droid base. Another pair later command the droids that come in to retake the base.
  • Negated Moment of Awesome: Midway through the final battle against the droids, two Rebel Troopers and two Clone Troopers suit up with heavy weaponry to take on a Droid platoon all on their own. They manage to destroy it, only to all get immediately after by a Tank Droid when it shows up.
  • No-Sell: The Tank Droid's armor is dense enough that a missile fired at it completely bounces off.
  • One-Steve Limit: Appears to have a subversion. General Darklighter shares his last name with the canon character Biggs Darklighter, though any relation between the two is unknown.
  • Tempting Fate: When Sergeant Mildew learns the Droids got reinforcements.
Mildew: Ah come on TK-48, how bad could it be?
Cue Clone Walker getting hit by tank fire
  • Red Is Heroic: The two most prominent heroic Clone Troopers, Sergeant Mildew and TK-48, both have red markings on their armornote .
  • The Remnant: The villains are a cell of Battle Droids who survived the droid shutdown at the end of the Clone Wars. The Clone Troopers also have shades of this, having kept their old armor and fight against the Empire rather than become Stormtroopers.
  • Still Wearing the Old Colors: Most of the Clone Troopers wear their version one armor from the early stages of the Clone Wars, although a few like TK-48 wear the version two armor.
  • Too Dumb to Live: The cocky Rebel soldier who chooses to stand up and wave his arms while being shot at. He predictably gets killed.
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Left: His droid army defeated, Darth Myth simply opts to exit the scene in his starship.
