Walking Spoiler / Shimeji Simulation

Go To

The following examples from Shimeji Simulation are spoilers by default. You Have Been Warned!

    Big Sis
Big Sis, the unnamed older sister of Shijima, is impossible to talk about her without spoiling many of the manga's major plot points. From the start, her Gadgeteer Genius trait is a spoiler as many of her technologies (Raw Fish Generator, Raw Fish Converter, Flounder Block, Twin-Flounder Motor, the Fish With Names and the giant drill excavator, the sea-urchin device and the conch-shaped device) are directly connected to uncovering the layers of their world, which is also difficult to not talk without summarising what these technologies are used for and her role in using them; and her reveal about the true nature of their world is bound to have spoilers. Then halfway through, her being behind the unintentional creation of her rogue clone involves a spoiler of how she was created in the first place, which is impossible to avoid spoiling the major plot point of how her rogue became soon involved in altering reality furthermore. And finally, the fish that Shijima saw in a snowy world is yet also hard to talk about without spoiling Big Sis' final fate that she's Dead All Along.
    Big Sis Clone
The Big Sis Clone, Big Sis' Evil Doppelgänger, is impossible to talk about without mentioning the origin of how she was created and her true goals to the simulation. Even her first appearance in Chapter 38 is very spoiler-y already as in the case when she mentions to the Mosasa Dogs how they can become music, which is a very subtle foreshadowing about her true nature as Sis' rogue clone and her goals.
    The Gardener
The Gardener who initially appears as some Plucky Comic Relief is also a spoiler in the sense that she's the one overseeing the state of the simulation around her. Talking about the state of the simulation is impossible without discussing the Gardener's involvement in it, in how Nobody Can Die under her watch. Her first appearance in Chapter 7, where she is seen whacking her bident to "fix all the wrong things", is a load of foreshadowing to her true nature as West Yomogi's overseer that would become true in Chapter 29, which in itself is spoiler-y in the very slightest.
    Yomikawa
Yomikawa is a minor but a very significant case. Similarly to the Gardener, she's also a Plucky Comic Relief character, but talking about her is such a huge spoiler for two main reasons: 1) She is a very Ambiguously Human person as she has a very concise, omniscient knowledge of the simulation that is not often a common trait that third-years have; as well as being the human embodiment of a library in line with her concise knowledge of philosophical works, and 2) Supporting her status as The Omniscient, mentioning about her reveal regarding the true nature of the simulation is going to spoil the manga's title and the actual truth as to why this world became as is: it is heavily connected to the past of Girls' Last Tour as humanity continued human existence digitally after the Robot War by uploading their consciousness into a supercomputer that resembles a simulated reality and it has been flying inside a space shuttle for a very long time. Yomikawa's reveal through the story she read to Shijima and how they are completely connected to some of the predecessor's key plot points — the Robot War and Chito and Yuuri's visit to the space station after seeing a flight path of the third shuttle — is hard to talk about as it spoils the biggest twist of the manga: it is later revealed to be canon all along and a Stealth Sequel to its predecessor.
    The Neighbours
From the start both Shijima's neigbours appeared to be just unrelated to the reality of the simulation at first. That is... Until it is revealed that they are hard to talk about them without revealing the fact that they are not the same, both in character and in appearance, to Chito and Yuuri that Shijima met inside the train, as their consciousnesses from their previous lives after Girls' Last Tour's final chapter have been uploaded into the simulation. The much more spoilery part comes with the subtle differences between the neighbours and Chito and Yuuri that Shijima met inside the train. For one, Shijima's neighbours all know about the danchis and with memories of them being their next-door neigbours. Contrastingly, Chito and Yuuri from the train do not have any memories of Shijima and with them being one to her in the danchis due to them being completely different to the neighbours, which is already a spoilery detail as both Chito and Yuuri were presumed dead in the past before having their consciousness uploaded into the simulation. The train Yuuri's signature hairstyle from GLT is also a dead giveaway as it contrasts to the blonde-haired neighbour who sports a vastly different hairstyle often tied up in ponytail.
    The Visitors
On the much spoilery end of the scale, there's the two familiar faces Shijima meet inside the Afterlife Express who look exactly like Chito and Yuuri from Girls' Last Tour. Despite being Late Arrival Spoilers who only appeared in the penultimate chapter, talking about them is bound to be extremely difficult and also spoilery for many reasons. The first part starts with Shijima's neighbours, who are not only different in their characterisation but their appearance and their everyday behaviour and personality subtly foreshadows that they are not the same as the original Chito and Yuuri. Secondly, not only they are mere Last Episode New Characters, but they are revealed to be Chito and Yuuri (despite not mentioning their names) after all this time, who are canon characters from their source material where their consciousness has been transported to the simulation after their tour to the megacity, making them a difficult topic to talk about without spoiling the manga's biggest plot twist: the entire manga is canon to Girls' Last Tour all along.
    Shijima Tsukishima
It is hard not to talk about Shijima without revealing the fact that she and her sister are not orphaned at all as initially purported by both herself and her sister. They are in fact Artificial Humans created by the simulation next to the danchis along with others who were also created by it as well. Everything about her orphaned life were all nothing but Blatant Lies as it was indirectly done by the simulation and not by her supposedly absent parents.
