DimensionsVS is a Platform Fighter created by Melbourne-based indie developers TeePee Studios and Salty Monster Studio, starring all original characters. Released on Steam in 2018, the game is still in Early Access.

Although still obscure, the game stands out with professional-quality artwork and a heavily-promoted mascot named Mr. Televisor, a character with a multicoloured TV set for a head. According to the backstory, he's the one who has brought all of the mismatched competitors from other universes together. The rest of the roster consists of familiar video game character archetypes such as a Space Marine named Renegade and a flamboyant superhero named... Hiro Man. Gameplay-wise, the game unabashedly riffs on the Super Smash Bros. series, with the objective of matches being to knock opponents off the screen.

Tropes featured in this game

  • The Ace: Hiro Man is frankly described in his bio as "the best dude ever", being good at everything from crime-fighting to F1 racing. However, his music career was apparently less than successful, earning him the nickname "One Hit Hiro" in both the superhero and music industries.
  • Ambiguously Evil: Mr. Televisor has brought the other fighters together by plucking them from other dimensions, seemingly for his own entertainment, but his character bio refers to him as a "funky boogeyman" and hints that he holds other "dark secrets". One of his special moves sees him use what appears to be dark magic effects.
  • Black Knight: Metorias is a Dark Souls-esque knight in full plate armour.
  • Electronic Dance Music: Mr. Televisor's aesthetic is inspired by this music genre, in particular artists like Daft Punk.
  • Great Gazoo: Mr. Televisor is a wacky chappy who loves messing with reality and other people's lives for fun.
  • Kiai: Metorias's neutral special has him charge a large aura blast to clear opponents away.
  • Mascot with Attitude: The quippy, fourth-wall-breaking Mr. Televisor is very heavily focused on in all promotional material related to the game and appears on the title screen to greet players.
  • Refugee from TV Land: All of the playable characters are said to hail from fictional video games or television series and were plucked from their original media by Mr. Televisor to do battle for his (and our) entertainment.
  • Space Marine: Renegade is a standard hulking trooper.
  • Wrench Wench: May Rose fights with a giant one.
