- Blooper: During the final overhead shot of the party that The Spirit of Hearth's Warming Presents takes Snowfall to, one can see a text label "Ponies talking to each other", indicating an animator's note that wasn't finished up on for the episode.
- Magnum Opus Dissonance: Shortly before the episode aired, Big Jim Miller took to Twitter to opine that this was among the best episodes the team had ever produced. Daniel Ingram expressed a similar opinion, calling it his favorite. At least some fans seem to disagree, though the episode's top-notch IMDB rating might make this a case of Vocal Minority.
- Recycled Script: The evil version of Starlight Glimmer using magic to ruin the fabric of time/reality in order to get her own way, explores her past Start of Darkness, and finds out that getting rid of a past special event has dire consequences for the entire world, leading to a shocking realization and Heel–Face Turn? It couldn't be this episode or "The Cutie Re-Mark" could it?
- The Other Darrin: Aloma Steele takes over as Princess Luna's Non-Singing Voice after Kazumi Evans from "Twilight's Kingdom". Unlike Kazumi Evans' performance which was a carbon-copy of Rarity's singing voice, Aloma Steele is a much better match to Luna's speaking voice.
- What Could Have Been:
- Discord was planned to play the role of Jacob Marley, but was cut for time.◊
- Besides the time constraint, there's another good reason for not including Jacob Marley: "Marley was dead: to begin with. There is no doubt whatever about that." In a show where nobody dies and Never Say "Die" are in force, adapting such a character would be a tall order.
- Scootaloo would've been in the role of Tiny Tim.
