Trivia / ¡Mucha Lucha!

Go To

  • The Character Ice Cream Bar: Popsicle released a cherry and pineapple-flavoured ice in the shape of Rikochet's head.
  • Cowboy BeBop at His Computer: An official website depicted the protagonists using moves aside from their signatures, moves they only used in one episode. Might be justified because Flea's had to be replaced, at least, since it's never depicted on screen because of how gross it is, and the rest were used for consistency's sake.
  • Cross-Dressing Voices: The Flea who is voiced by Candi Milo. Also played straight in the Japanese dub as well.
  • Cross-Regional Voice Acting: The cast is a mixture of Los Angeles and Canadian voice actors.
  • Defictionalization: A few gimmicks from this show would eventually be picked up by wrestlers in Caribbean. Mostly joke matches but Ricochet and The Flea did have moderate success.
  • Follow the Leader: While not the first cartoon made in Adobe Flash, it was the first made specifically for television. While limited in movement and using relatively simple rounded designs, it paved the way for other cartoons to be more dynamic with the software.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes:
    • The show only had a few DVD releases with a certain amount of episodes. This was averted as of 2019 now that Amazon has all the episodes to buy in high quality.
    • The "Build Your Own Wrestler" game that was used for fans to submit their own characters disappeared after the show was cancelled.
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content: Some of the background students in the intro are submissions from fans using the "Build Your Own Wrestler" game that was out during the time.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • Rikochet had two voice actors- Carlos Alazraqui for the first two seasons, and Jason Marsden for season 3 (Carlos' other roles were taken over by other actors). Carlos, however, comes back for The Movie. note
    • Cindy Slam had two voice actresses.
    • Tibor the Terrible went from sounding like a typical pirate to sounding like a regular kid.
  • Real-Life Relative: In the Mexican Spanish dub, Eduardo Fonseca (El Rey's VA) is the uncle of Víctor Ugarte (The Flea's VA).
  • Romance on the Set: In the Mexican Spanish dub, Héctor Emmanuel Gómez (Rikochet's VA) and Karla Falcón (Buena Girl's VA) started dating after finishing the dubbing of season 3. Currently, they are husband and wife in real life.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The pilot was pretty different from the show.
      • Rikochet's costume was originally going to be purple.
      • Buena Girl's original name was going to be "Super Nina".
      • Ever wonder why The Flea's costume and his lack of hygiene resembles that of a Cockroach? It's because his original name was "La Cucaracha"!
      • There was originally a 4th member of the main characters named PSICLONE but he was dropped from the show but can be seen in the pilot.
      • Originally, Masked Dog was the Flea's pet.
      • Primadonna Hodges was Caucasian in the Pilot.
    • Originally the episodes "Pig Out" and "Party Animal" were made to guest star Real Life Luchadores Super Porky and Rey Misterio Jr But due to scheduling conflicts or other circumstances they couldn’t appear so their Captain Ersatz counterparts El Porcino and Rey Dinamico were made to compensate for this. They DID however get Blue Demon Jr. for the series finale.
    • A PlayStation 2 game was planned for release, but never came to be due to the show declining in ratings.
    • Plans for a revival called "¡Mucha Lucha! Para Siempre" (Translation: ¡Mucha Lucha! Forever) were announced in 2014, but nothing seems to come of it other than some online comics, artwork, and an animatic.
