- The Cast Showoff: Reed Diamond (Don Pedro) is briefly seen playing blues guitar.
- No Budget: First of what Joss Whedon hopes will be many "micro-budget" films from his new production company.
- Production Posse: Almost every cast member that played a role in this movie has been in Joss Whedon's prior TV/Movie work.
- Separated-at-Birth Casting: As noted in the DVD Commentary, Amy Acker (Beatrice) and Jillian Morgese (Hero) do look like they could be cousins.
- Throw It In!: A fluke fog bank appeared when it came time to shoot the funeral, resulting in a sequence that looks straight out of an Ingmar Bergman film.
- Troubled Production: A mild example, but the DVD Commentary gives a few instances of trouble for them. They mention having trouble with barking dogs and motorcycles and, at one point, were actually shut down by the police for filming a movie without a license. Whedon just kept filming the movie in secret, incredibly worried they'd be caught again.
- What Could Have Been: Anthony Head was originally going to be Leonato, but he unfortunately couldn't make the time to film it. At least we got Clark Gregg taking his place.
