Trivia / Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope

Go To

  • Acclaimed Flop: Despite being just as well received as the original game, the game reportedly underperformed in sales, much to Ubisoft's surprise. This is likely due to the game being released in a very competitive holiday season, with Ubisoft themselves placing the blame on a consumer shift "towards mega-brands and long-lasting titles", as well as them not heeding Nintendo's warning to save a second Mario + Rabbids title for the next console. Things turned around for the better when in January 2024, the game was reported to have been selling up to 3 million copies.
  • Acting for Two: With Rayman's arrival in the Rayman in The Phantom Show DLC, David Gasman voices both him and Rabbid Mario, the latter being one of the few heroes present in the DLC.
  • Content Leak:
    • Sparks of Hope's title was leaked by a Reddit user a day before the game's announcement. Nintendo, not to be outdone, accidentally made the game's product page on their website accessible a few hours before Sparks of Hope was formally revealed at Ubisoft's E3 2021 presentation.
    • To round things out, a day before the game was expected to appear in the June 2022 Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase (and two days before a rumored gameplay presentation), Ubisoft's Latin American storefront leaked the release date, as well as the existence of post-launch DLC. Further information on the DLC was revealed at Ubisoft Forward in September, with Rayman being announced as a DLC character.
  • Development Gag: The updated look of Rayman's Vortex power-up - and in particular, its twister-shaped hairdo - is inspired by an early concept design for its debut in Rayman 3.
  • The Original Darrin: David Gasman reprises his role as Rayman for the first time in fifteen years since Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party, following Doug Rand's portrayal of Rayman in Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • Several of the Rabbids now have individual voice actors as opposed to making the same yells and general noises made by Yoann Perrier. Rabbid Mario, Rabbid Luigi, and Rabbid Peach, for example, are voiced by David Gasman, Bruce Sherfield, and Kaycie Chase.
    • With Rayman in this game having proper voiced dialogue in human languages instead of just Non-Dubbed Grunts provided by Gasman or Rand, Sébastien Mineo takes over as Rayman's French voice actor for such an occasion from Emmanuel Garijo, who last portrayed him in Rayman 2: The Great Escape's PlayStation and PlayStation 2 versions (which included French non-Speaking Simlish vocal tracks), Rayman: The Animated Series and Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc.
    • In the Italian dub Rayman is voiced by Stefano Pozzi, replacing Dario Oppido who voiced him back in Hoodlum Havoc.
    • In the Spanish dub Rayman is voiced by Antonio Domínguez, replacing Álex Saudinós who voiced him back in Hoodlum Havoc.
    • In the German dub Rayman is voiced by Jan Makino, replacing Vittorio Alfieri who voiced him back in Hoodlum Havoc.
  • Shrug of God: When asked how Beep-O's Trans-Rabb-O-Lator works (whether Beep-O is needed for it to work or if it affects all Rabbids regardless of location), Yves refused to elaborate.
