Trivia / Half-Life: Alyx but the Gnome is Too Aware

• Shrug of God: Wayne and the other members of RTVS have refused to elaborate on the meanings of the more surreal parts of the finale, saying that viewers should draw their own conclusions.
• What Could Have Been: Being mostly improv, definitely. A lot of these were mentioned in the Behind the Scenes stream.
  • Originally, the stream was intended to be a regular playthrough of Half Life: Alyx with Wayne taking the Gnome to the end of the game. The discovery of Uberduck and creation of the Discord bot utilizing it led Wayne to decide on giving the Gnome a voice.
  • Several voices were considered for the Gnome, including Mike Matei as Inspector Gadget, Elmer Fudd, Yoda, Homestar Runner and Bubs. While Homestar was a popular contender, the final voice was chosen due to how obscure and strange it was.
  • Initially, it was thought that the Gnome didn't have a singular voice, so Kami switched him to Homestar's voice during the first part. This was quickly dropped, with "Gnomestar's" voice being redubbed using the actual Gnome's voice in the final video, and chat being censored to hide any mention of Gnomestar.
  • The Blue Gnome's voice nominations included Toucan Sam, X, Licorice Cookie, Omochao, Pip and the Infomaniac. Voices were scrapped primarily due to their sources being too easily recognized, and much like the normal Gnome, they wanted to choose a deliberately obscure source. The final voice was almost The Monopoly Guy, until it was decided to use a NovelAI voice, circumventing the entire need for an origin.
  • The Gabe Newell commentary nodes had several lines which were not played during the final stream.
  • In the final stream, when the Gnome comes into the real world and takes over Wayne's channel, Wayne considered having the Gnome change his Twitch URL to be orangejulius. This was shot down when it was pointed out that Wayne's original URL would have likely end up being stolen from him during this and he would remain as orangejulius forever, which Wayne admits would've been very funny.
  • Downplayed with the final stream. There was a year long hiatus, but most of the ideas for it were solidified quickly. They just wouldn't have been as funny had they not had a year inbetween the streams. In specific, the main difference was that the voices of The Blue Gnome and Gabe Newell were originally both also Uberduck voices, but very shortly before the final stream, the decision was made to change them to both entirely different TTS voice services for their voices.
