  • Ascended Meme: The picture title Nightmarionne's teaser is 'dontwakethebaby'. "Don't wake the baby" was Markiplier's Survival Mantra against the Puppet in FNAF 2.
"Don't wake the baby, don't wake the baby..."'
  • Blooper: Nightmarionne's name is presumably supposed to be "Nightmarionette", but the "tte" is cut off of its name on the "Extra" menu.
  • Creator Backlash: In the interview with Dawko, Scott expressed regret over making the story of this game so vague and mysterious to the point where no one knew for sure what was going on, acknowledging the discourse that resulted from it and his decision to keep the box closed, as well as how it forced him to make Sister Location to clear some things up and ground the series in terms of storytelling again.

  • Schedule Slip:
    • Scott once again inverts the trope. The game's first six teaser images all had the date of Halloween 2015 listed on them. Scott pushed forward the release date to early August as a way of celebrating the one-year anniversary of the first game's release — and promised a free DLC update for Halloween to keep the date special. Not only that, but in the SAME email in which he revealed this, he also stated that the trailer would be released the next weekend, only for the trailer to come out the following day. Even the game came out early, releasing on July 23rd. A downplayed inversion with the Halloween update, which came out a day earlier.
Scott Cawthon: Ok, so as many of you already know, I'm bad with release dates.
  • Serendipity Writes the Plot: In previews and on the main menu, Nightmare Foxy has a metallic, prehensile Overly-Long Tongue that is conspicuously absent from gameplay. According to Scott, this was because the tongue looked great in still images but was very difficult to animate.
  • Throw It In!: Nightmarionne's name was originally cut short in-game by accident; it later became its official name.
  • Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things: When Scott initially posted the first teaser image for the game, his site's code had a series of 7s and 8s alternating and repeating throughout various spots. The FNAF fandom put the list of numbers into Google Maps — which, by coincidence and blind dumb luck, pointed to the location of an actual real-life pizzeria (that had absolutely nothing to do with the games). Dozens of people in the fandom promptly went berserk and put in numerous calls to the place at an alarming rate; some fans even verbally harassed the staff. Several Redditors who lived close to the pizzeria eventually put rumors about the pizzeria's involvement with the games to an end, and Scott himself posted on Reddit to do the same — while making it clear, for the umpteenth time, that no one should trust information about the game that comes from anywhere but his site or his Steam page. (Scott also removed the "glitches" from his site's code and placed a note on his site that said the games have no phone numbers, official or otherwise, associated with them.) The owners didn't hold a grudge, at least. They even offered a "Fazbear Pizzeria Special" for a brief time. However, just like with the Keystone Motel fiasco, anonymous reviews were also posted complaining about the smell of "blood and mucus" in the restaurant.
