• Completely Different Title: The French title is "La Première Femme sur la Lune" (First Woman on the Moon).
• Deleted Scene: There was supposed to be introductions for all the crew members, but this was cut for time. Also cut was more discourse about how humanity had stopped wanting to explore space.
• Fandom Nod:
  • Tumblr is mentioned a couple of times, likely a nod to Doctor Who's massive fanbase on that site.
  • The Doctor lists one of his rules for the TARDIS as "no hanky-panky", reflecting a quote from '80s Who producer John Nathan-Turner often cited by fans of the classic series.
• Prop Recycling: In Doctor Who Extra, Peter Capaldi confirms he's wearing David Tennant's spacesuit from "The Impossible Planet" and "The Satan Pit" two-parter.
• What Could Have Been:
  • This was originally written for Series 7B and thus the Eleventh Doctor and Clara Oswald. Needless to say, a lot had to be changed in the interim.
  • Courtney was supposed to be the one to save the moon rather than Clara. She was also going to have a subplot where it turned out her future self was Lundvik. Lundvik herself originally had the name Captain Blinovitch, named after the in-universe “Blinovitch Limitation Effect”. All of this was cut for distracting from Clara and the Doctor’s souring relationship.
• Working Title: "Return to Sarn". This was a jokey reference to the fact that that Lanzarote was used as a filming location for the first time since "Planet of Fire".
• You Look Familiar: Tony Osoba (Duke) appeared in different roles in "Destiny of the Daleks" and "Dragonfire".
