Trivia / Candy Land

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Jon St. John and Lani Minella voice most of the male and female characters respectively in the Candy Land Adventure CD Rom game (the only exception is Lani Minella voicing one of the male miners)
  • Cross-Dressing Voices: One of the male miners in the Candy Land Adventure CD Rom game is voiced by Lani Minella
  • Development Hell: The movie adaptation has been in development since 2009, but has never officially started production. It first hopped from Universal to Columbia Pictures (Sony) with Adam Sandler attached as star. Then a lawsuit over the rights to the Candy Land property stymied production even longer. But things soon went downhill when Sony executives refused Sandler's demands to fund the movie with a $200 million budget. With the film having fallen behind schedule, Sony's rights expired and reverted back to Hasbro, who then licensed the rights to Warner Bros., though with Sandler still attached. Nothing more has come out since then.
  • Fake Brit: In the CD-ROM game, Jon St. John voices Lord Licorice with a British accent.
  • Licensed Game: Two of them, both for Windows and Macintosh computers. First there was Candy Land Adventure which came out in 1996, and was more or less an edutainment minigame collection and never featured the actual board game, though it did have a running plot regarding Lord Licorice having kidnapped King Candy. Then there was the 1998 adaptation, which was more faithful since it actually had the board game it was based off of, plus a few minigames of its own. Although technically just called Candy Land, it had the Tag Line "A Child's First Game Comes to Life".
  • What Could Have Been: If Unit:E had gotten off the ground, Princess Lolly would've been allied with several other Hasbro heroes. It was suggested in said comic that crossing the fairies is what led to the creatures of Primordia (a renamed Inhumanoids)!
