Subverted Rhymes in animated movies.

  • Aladdin: Genie sarcastically "cheers" Jafar: "Jafar, Jafar, he's our man, if he can't do it, GREAT!"
  • Cars: Lightning McQueen is trying to sneak out of his personal appearance:
Dusty Rust-eze: Winter is a grand old time!
Rusty Rust-eze: Of this, there are no ifs and buts!
Dusty Rust-eze: But remember, all that salt and grime...
Rusty Rust-eze: Can rust your bolts and freeze your...Hey, look! There he is!
  • In Cinderella, this occurs twice with the Fairy Godmother; most of her rhymes are genuine, but...
    • After making the coach:
Fairy Godmother: Now, with an elegant coach like that, of course, we'll simply have to have...
(Major, Cinderella's horse standing nearby, clears his throat)
      Fairy Godmother: Mice!
      (Major does a Double Take)
    • After making the horses:
Fairy Godmother: Now, um, where were we? Oh, goodness, yes. You can't go to the ball without, um...
(Cinderella looks hopeful about her dress, for the third time)
      Fairy Godmother: A horse!
      Cinderella: A-a-another one?
  • Epic (2013): Nim Galuu sings that the protagonists can "put [their worries] to bed", then adds, "It says right here... that the Queen is what?!" (She was dead).
  • From Frozen (2013)'s Sidekick Song "In Summer", sung by the snowman Olaf:
Winter's a good time to stay in and cuddle
But put me in summer and I'll be a... happy snowman!
    • For bonus points, he's shown jumping over a puddle while singing this. At least the Russian dub retains this joke, using a word that rhymes with the Russian word for "puddle".
    • The film also uses a darker and more subtle version in the song "Do You Want To Build a Snowman?", which sets it up to sound like Elsa is going to respond to her sister's question, only to be met with silence.
  • The Lion King (1994):
    Pumbaa: And OOOOOOOH, the shame!
    Timon: He was ashamed!
Pumbaa: Thought of changin' my name!
Timon: Oh, what's in a name?
    Pumbaa: And I got downhearted...
    Timon: How did you feel!?
    Pumbaa: Every time that I—
Timon: Pumbaa! Not in front of the kids.
    Pumbaa: Oh. Sorry.
    Simba looks into camera, perplexed
    • This is subverted in the CGI remake. Pumbaa thinks Timon is going to cut him off before he can say "farted", just like in the original, but to his surprise he actually gets to complete the rhyme.
Pumbaa: And I got downhearted, every time that I... farted, are you gonna stop me?!
Timon: No I'm not! You disgust me!
  • The "Daughters of Triton" song from The Little Mermaid (1989). It's a concert Sebastian has created with all of Triton's daughters and is supposed to be the grand debut of Triton's youngest daughter, the lead character of the film, the Little Mermaid we know as Ariel.
Six Daughters: And then there is the youngest in her musical debut / Our seventh little sister, we're presenting her to you / To sing a song Sebastian wrote, her voice is like a bell / She's our sister, Ari... (gasps of shock and surprise at Ariel's absence)
    King Triton: ARIEL!!!
  • In The Polar Express, the Polar Express is stopped by a caribou crossing. They start coming up with various metaphors for their situation, with the engineer commenting that they're "In the grass."
Fireman: I'll tell you what's grass, our a— ow!
  • Queer Duck: The Movie used this during the musical number "Baseball is Gay".
Singers: One hits, one bunts, we're just a bunch of silly—
    Bi-Polar Bear: Whoa, whoa, whoa...
  • In The Rugrats Movie the moms are discussing the gender of Didi's then unborn baby and Charlotte says:
You know the saying, born under Venus, look for a...(cell phone rings cutting her off) hello?
  • In Shrek, from the scene where little puppets in a machine sing a song:
Please keep off of the grass,
Shine your shoes, wipe your... face.
    • Though they do complete a rhyme with the next line:
Duloc is, Duloc is, Duloc is a perfect place!
    • Scared Shrekless brings back the joke when the puppets sing again in a now-abandoned Duloc:
Come on in, what the heck,
Fall right down, break your... face.
    • Shrek: The Musical makes a similar joke:
      A princess full of sass
      And a dragon and a...donkey!
  • Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree:
Narrator: Now, honey rhymes with bunny, and bunny rhymes with...
    Pooh: Rabbit?
    • And again in Winnie the Pooh (2011):
Its toes are black, its fur is blue/ I swear all I tell you is not made up!
