Recap / The Real Ghostbusters S 2 E 45 The Ghostbusters In Paris

Go To

Some workmen on the Eiffel Tower are tired, so one of them goes to nap in the Pavilion, despite it being forbidden due to being the workshop of the tower's creator, Monsieur Eiffel. He accidentally knocks a clock onto a control box, breaking some lamps and making the tower shake, but he decides he'll replace the lamps the next day. On a lower deck, some tourists get frightened by ghosts, and another workman gets kidnapped by one.

A Frenchman named Lucien arrives at the firehouse and begs the Ghostbusters to catch the ghosts by the Eiffel Tower. Ray isn't so sure since he has a satellite dish to install, but the rest of them convince him to take the job. When they get to Paris, they dilly-dally a bit by sightseeing but insist it's research. When they eventually get to the tower, they have to take the stairs as the electricity is cut.

Egon scans the area, but doesn't get any PKE readings, yet a lot of ghosts still show up. He radios Lucien and asks him to turn the power back on so they can use the elevator, where they try to blast at the ghosts, but the girders absorb the proton streams. Several ghosts attack the switchboard, so Winston climbs up and stops them. Egon "reverses the polarity" of the proton packs, allowing them to suck the ghosts into the girders.

When the Ghostbusters reach the Pavilion, Egon reads Eiffel's diary and finds out that he was essentially a Ghostbuster back in the day, and the tower is where the ghosts were locked up, but they're escaping because the control box is broken and they have twelve hours to fix it before the damage becomes irreparable and all of the ghosts (of which there are millions) escape.

Ray suggests that Egon link his proton pack to the control box to re-trap the ghosts who have already escaped, which he does and it works. The Ghostbusters then tell the government officials about the situation, and they reveal that some of Eiffel's papers are around. Egon studies the control box, while the rest look for the papers, with ghosts chasing them. Ray arrives at the Louvre, where he's attacked by several possessed exhibits, and Winston arrives at the Notre Dame, where possessed gargoyles steal the journal, but after a fight, he gets it.

The next morning, the workmen connect some powerlines from the tower's generator to a console. Then, Egon is about to connect it to the control box, but a ghost destroys it. However, Ray hooks the proton packs to the control box and zaps the broadcasting antennas, zapping the ghosts into the firehouse's containment unit. It works, but the ghosts end up on the French televisions for five hours, meaning the Ghostbusters have to pay when the cable company sues.
